Bachelor of Computer Information Systems

Program DescriptionStudents will take some required courses, courses from one ormore options (specific areas of computing), and electivecourses. This allows students to concentrate on areas ofcomputing (software design and development, computersystems, or database systems) which interest them, whileensuring all graduates have a broad knowledge of computing.

Admission Requirements to first year Regular applicants • BC high school graduation or equivalent. • A minimum grade of 60% in English 12 or an equivalent

Provincial Level ABE English. Communications 12 is not acceptable.

• A minimum grade of 67% in Principles of Mathematics 11 or an equivalent Advanced Level ABE Mathematics, or a minimum grade of 60% in Applications of Mathematics 12 or an equivalentProvincial Level ABE Mathematics. Principles of Mathematics 12or Applications of Mathematics 12 is recommended.

• A minimum grade of 70% in ICTS 11 or ICTP 11 or a minimum grade of 60% in ICTS 12 or ICTP 12, or a minimum grade of 73% in Information Technology 12.

Mature applicants Applicants who do not have high schoolgraduation may apply as a mature student provided that they areat least 19 years of age and have not attended secondary schoolon a full-time basis for a minimum period of one year. Matureapplicants will be subject to the same academic requirementsthat apply to regular applicants.

Other Requirements: Attendance at a mandatory orientation.

Applicants to third year: Students who have completedOkanagan College’s Computer Information Systems diploma,Network and Telecommunications Engineering Technologydiploma, or a similar program of studies from another institutionmay enter at year three.
