The kids triathlon is open to kids up to 14 , with a new route starting at the pool & ending at Voght Park. Vol- unteers are needed for both of these events. FMI Community Policing Office 378-3955. Nicola lk & Riv. rising The Min. of Forests, Lands & Natural Resource Operations is asking the public to prepare for localized flooding as water levels in Nicola Lake & River rise due to increased snowmelt and higher than nor- mal rain levels in April. Lake levels have been rising for the past 15 days. And with last night’s rain and what’s expected over the weekend — as well as the warm weather — the River Forecast Centre has issued a high streamflow advi- sory (levels rise rapidly, but no major flooding expected/minor flooding in low-lying areas possible) for small streams around Merritt and other parts of the Central Interior. Advance voting As of Wednesday, 2,754 Fraser Nicola voters had cast advance ballots. That’s 11% of the 23,578 registered voters in our riding. Advance voting continues today & tomorrow 8am-8pm, at the Civic Cen- tre. After that, the last chance to vote is E- Day itself, Tuesday May 9. All voters must prove their identity and residential address to receive a bal- lot. Usually it is faster and easier to vote at your assigned voting place — cards were in the mail last week — on General Voting Day, but voters can vote at any voting place that is convenient for them. Polls & ‘Poll Tracker’ As of yesterday, CBC’s Poll Tracker in- dicated ‘probability of winning’ was NDP 72.1%, Liberals 27.9%. Although in the In- terior & North, the numbers are quite dif- ferent for the proportion of votes: NDP 34.1%, Liberals 48.4%, Greens 14.6% and others 2.8%. Metro Vancouver shows the highest percentage of votes & number of seats for the NDP, which would carry the party into power.
