IMPORTANT

My name is Francis Jonah. I believe all things are

possible. It is because of this belief that I have

achieved so much in life. This belief extends to all. I

believe every human being is equipped to succeed

in every circumstance, regardless of the

circumstance.

I know the only gap that exists between you and

what you need to achieve or overcome is

knowledge.

People are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

It is for this reason that I write short practical books

that are so simple, people begin to experience

immediate results as evidenced by the many

b.13

testimonies I receive on daily basis for my various

books.

b.14

CHAPTER ONE

THE POWER OF ‘I AM’

There is no doubt that these two words “I AM” are

two of the most frequently used words in the

vocabulary of any man or believer. But beyond

that, they are also two of the most powerful words

when it comes to programming yourself.

What follows those two words is crucial to your life

and the life of every individual in this world. They

will determine the direction of your life.

The words “I AM” helps identify yourself and tells

people who you are and what you are. It is thus a

way of self-identification; and self-identification is

normally comprised of some self-address.

b.15

This address also helps you live up to certain

standards.

A lot of the results people produce in life is as a

result of who they are or at least who they think

they are. Hear this, whatever you are seeing in your

life is as a result of who you are. This essentially is

because who you are determines what you do.

A mediocre person will always produce mediocre

results, an excellent person will always produce

excellent results. I am mediocre, no wonder, your

results show. I am excellent, no wonder, you

results show too.

Dr Francis: How are you?

Michael: sir...I am not fine!

b.16

Dr. Francis: why?

Michael: I am depressed.

Observing that conversation, you will see what

follows Michael’s “I AM”. It won’t be wrong if what

followed his I AM was; “I AM blessed, I AM strong, I

AM more than a conqueror, I AM healthy, I AM an

overcomer, etc.

What follows your “I AM” is very crucial to your

success and development in life. You have to be

careful about what you employ to follow your “I

AM’s” because they will come after you.

They program you, your actions and your results

for life.

b.17

GOD’S CONVERSATION WITH MOSES

One day, God in a conversation with Moses used

the power of I am to break every limit to His

operations. He said my name is I am that I am.

Wow. He practically had no limits. His

programming was superb.

EXODUS 3:7-15:And the LORD said, I have surely

seen the affliction of my people which are in

Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their

taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

And I am come down to deliver them out of the

hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of

that land unto a good land and a large, unto a

land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place

of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the

Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and

b.18

the Jebusites.

Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of

Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the

oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress

them.

Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto

Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people

the children of Israel out of Egypt.

And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should

go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the

children of Israel out of Egypt?

And he said, certainly I will be with thee; and this

shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee:

When thou hast brought forth the people out of

Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.

And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come

b.19

unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto

them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto

you; and they shall say to me, what is his name?

What shall I say unto them?

And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he

said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of

Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

And God said moreover unto Moses, thou shalt

say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of

your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of

Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto

you: this is my name for ever, and this is my

memorial unto all generations.

From the above scripture, you can point out the ‘I

AM’ of God and how positive it was. God certainly

b.20

knew the power of “I am” and used it masterfully.

It must be noted that on that same occasion,

Moses belittled himself and defeated himself. He

asked who he was? He felt he was a nobody. Many

of us are in that state of nothingness because of

our circumstances. I came to tell you that do not let

your circumstances define you. You will miss the

correct process. Start by saying and knowing who

you are and then you can change your

circumstances.

When God who is all knowing saw potential, he

saw nothing of himself. Let God be the judge of

your potential. And this is what he says concerning

you. You are great and will accomplish greatness.

The “I am” of Moses was that he was not worthy,

he was not qualified for the task God wanted him

b.21

to carry out. Just like most of us, He was saying;

GOD;

I AM not qualified for this job.

I AM not the right person.

I AM not well educated to be in that office.

I AM not smart enough.

I AM not strong enough.

I AM sick

I AM mediocre

I AM average

I AM nobody

I AM a loser

I AM not classy.

I AM not from a rich home. Etc.

b.22

Listen to what God said when Moses enquired

about what name he should give to the Israelites

when they ask him of His Identity. God said; tell

them that I AM sent you. He knew that they would

also ask, who is I AM? He said; tell them; The LORD

God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God

of Isaac, and the God of Jacob sent you.

In other words he is saying; I AM “The LORD God of

your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac,

and the God of Jacob”

Observe the names of the people He mentioned.

These are names of successful people in the Bible.

These are names of our fathers; names of winners.

EXODUS 6:2: “And God spoke unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD”

ISAIAH 43:11:”I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour”.

b.23

RELEASING THE POWER OF I AM

Most times, we use the ‘I am’ word wrongly

probably because of our ignorance. I have been

there before. Sometime past, when I made a

mistake or failed at something, I ignorantly said

things like;

“I AM useless”

“I AM a failure”

“I AM not sure I can do it”

“I AM good for nothing“

I say to the glory of God that those days are gone

and I want you to know that you are good for

something. You are not useless, and you can do all

things through Christ which strengthens you.

b.24

I don’t know you well, but I know a few things

about you if you are reading this book. “You have

greatness within you, you are loaded with

potential, you are a champion, you are great, you

are beautiful, you are handsome, you are a winner,

you are productive, and you are designed to

succeed”

And guess what; God loves you too, so much and

has deposited himself within you if you are born

again.

All He needs from you now is to change how you

see yourself and begin to see yourself in His image.

Change what follows your ‘I AM’ from today. Right

now, I am going to help you UNLEASH THE POWER

OF I AM.

The only way to unleash the great power attached

b.25

to this two great words is to change what follows

them. I want you to do this, every day.

Look at the mirror and tell yourself;

I AM the best...

I AM attractive

I AM a winner

I AM great

I AM productive

I AM an asset to the world

I AM winning that contract

I AM getting married this year, month, week, or

day.

I AM winning that contest.

I AM buying that house.

b.26

I AM starting that business

I AM going to praise God

I AM never missing church again.

I AM committing myself to the work of God.

I AM setting up that business this year, month or

day.

As you say these words, be confident about them

and take action immediately. Don’t just say them

and relax. Let these words dictate your actions. Try

to repeat them as often as you can.

The scripture says faith comes by hearing,

therefore if you want to build faith needful for

getting what you want, to maintain your

confidence and your work rate, you have to keep

reminding yourself of those words. The more you

b.27

repeat them, the faster they get to your

subconscious mind and once they get there, they

become part of you and once they become part of

you, the programming will affect your actions and

hence the results will follow.

Please don’t forget to send me an email; I will be

happy to receive your testimonies. You are blessed.

ROMANS 12:2A: “And be not conformed to this world: but transformed by the renewing of your mind....”

b.28

CHAPTER TWO

CHANGE YOUR I AM’S, ELSE YOUR I AM’S WILL

CHANGE YOU

If you will change what follows your ‘I AM’

everything will change for you. If you must

maximize your potential here on earth and be who

God designed you to be, you must as a matter of

urgency shake off those negative thoughts that are

suggesting those destiny-killing words such as;

“I AM not good enough”

“I AM a failure”

“I AM not qualified”

b.29

You have to shake off those thoughts, if you allow

them to roam in your mind unchecked and

influence your belief system, they can and surely

will handicap your potential and your future. Your

thoughts may be causing you to feel you are not

qualified but I want you to know this; before you

were born, you had already been equipped by your

creator {God} to do great and wonderful things

here on earth. The Apostle Paul said of the born

again man in Ephesians 2:10 (NIV);

“For we are handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to

do good works, which God prepared in advance

for us to do”

I want you to know this; when God created every

other creature, He looked at them and saw that

they were good. In the eyes of God, you are a star.

b.30

You are the apple of His eyes. He says of you:

“YOU ARE GREAT”

“YOU ARE MY MASTERPIRCE”

“YOU ARE PERFECT”

“YOU QUALIFIED”

“YOU ARE EXCELLENT”

Do you know why am confident about this fact? It

is because God made you in his own Image and

after his likeness. Awesome. He looked at Himself

to create you.

GENESIS 1:27; “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them”

You are a wonderful personality. Start inviting

strength into your life and not weakness. Start

b.31

inviting success and not failure. Stop giving in to

intimidation and invitation to negatives in your life.

IT’S TIME TO REPROGRAM YOUR-SELF.

If you don’t program yourself, life will program you.

If you don’t change what you are saying about your

life, what you are saying will change you. There is

no handicap than the handicap of our mind; there

is no limitation except that which we put on

ourselves as believers.

The time is right for you to change what is

following your ‘I AM’s’. If you will change them,

everything will change for you. For most of us, our

b.32

breakthrough is trapped in our ‘I AM’S’. We set our

destinies on the course of greatness and ourselves

free when we begin to influence our “I AMs” for

the better.

Declare who you are without looking at anyone. If

you fail, they will only laugh at you. That is why you

must not care what anyone thinks.

Start from today:

I AM A CHILD OF GOD

………………..

b.33

CHAPTER THREE

THE 10 SPIES

What you think or profess about yourself has the

potential to upgrade your life or draw you back

from your breakthrough regardless of the great and

mighty prophecies God has said about you. In

effect, our “I AMs” have the potency to affect the

promises of God in our lives – to negate, or even

delay them.

Many scenarios and stories abound in the Bible to

that effect. One of such stories is the story of the

10 spies.

Numbers 13:1-3; 17-30

The Lord said to Moses,

b.34

2 "Send some men to explore the land of Canaan,

which I am giving to the Israelites. From each

ancestral tribe send one of its leaders."

3 So at the Lord's command Moses sent them out

from the Desert of Paran. All of them were leaders

of the Israelites.

17 When Moses sent them to explore Canaan, he

said, "Go up through the Negev and on into the

hill country.

18 See what the land is like and whether the

people who live there are strong or weak, few or

many.

19 What kind of land do they live in? Is it good or

bad? What kind of towns do they live in? Are they

unwalled or fortified?

20 How is the soil? Is it fertile or poor? Are there

b.35

trees on it or not? Do your best to bring back some

of the fruit of the land." (It was the season for the

first ripe grapes.)

21 So they went up and explored the land from the

Desert of Zin as far as Rehob, toward Lebo

Hamath.

22 They went up through the Negev and came to

Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the

descendants of Anak, lived. (Hebron had been

built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

23 When they reached the Valley of Eshcol, they

cut off a branch bearing a single cluster of grapes.

Two of them carried it on a pole between them,

along with some pomegranates and figs.

24 That place was called the Valley of Eshcol

because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut

b.36

off there.

25 At the end of forty days they returned from

exploring the land.

26 They came back to Moses and Aaron and the

whole Israelite community at Kadesh in the Desert

of Paran. There they reported to them and to the

whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the

land.

27 They gave Moses this account: "We went into

the land to which you sent us, and it does flow

with milk and honey! Here is its fruit.

28 But the people who live there are powerful and

the cities are fortified and very large. We even

saw descendants of Anak there.

b.37

29 The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites,

Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and

the Canaanites live near the sea and along the

Jordan."

30 Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses

and said, "We should go up and take possession of

the land, for we can certainly do it."

31 But the men who had gone up with him said,

"We can't attack those people; they are stronger

than we are."

32 And they spread among the Israelites a bad

report about the land they had explored. They

said, "The land we explored devours those living in

it. All the people we saw there are of great size.

b.38

33 We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of

Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like

grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the

same to them (NIV)

In the verse 3, the bible states it unequivocally that,

the 10 spies chosen were leaders and thus one

would have expected leaders as they were to have

known better and inspired some courage.

However, what proceeded from their mouths or

their “I AMs” were just as similar to that of Moses

or even worse off. Now here is God, the Mighty

One who had saved them from their bonds of

slavery and the iron rule of Pharaoh, asking for

them specifically, as leaders of their various tribes

and telling them that He was going to give them

the land of Canaan.

b.39

You will think that these people will just believe the

promise of God, go and get the land because God

had assured them but No, they did not. They could

not see past their circumstances.

Their “I AMs” rendered the promise of God

ineffective in their lives. Eight of these leaders

considered their present circumstance, forgot

about the promises of God and spread a bad report

among the Israelites saying they could not take the

land because they were no match for the

inhabitants of the land. In their own words, they

were “grasshoppers in their own eyes” when they

compared themselves to them.

Most of us suffer from the same problem of

unbelief which produces negative “I AMs that

counteract the promises of God in our lives. It is

b.40

called the grasshopper mentality. This mentality

handicaps the greatest of men with the greatest of

potentials.

The reason is simple, it looks at circumstances

instead of looking to God and what He has

deposited in them or promised them.

Anytime God promises us or tells us something

which seems a little impossible in our eyes, we

forget He is the God of the impossible and begin to

ask;

“How am I going to complete my education when I

have no benefactor?”

“How am I going to bear twins when I have been

declared barren by the doctors?”

b.41

“How am I going to achieve my dreams when my

future looks this bleak”

We begin to ask “How…?”, “How…?”, “How…?”

until we answer those questions by conceding that

it is indeed impossible instead of saying “I AM

capable” because God has promised and He is

faithful.

THE “I AMs” of JOSHUA AND CALEB

Joshua and Caleb were among the leaders chosen

to spy on the land. However, their reports and their

“I AMs” were very different from those of the other

spies. Let us see what they said.

Numbers 13: 30

b.42

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and

said, "We should go up and take possession of the

land, for we can certainly do it."

Numbers 14: 6-9 - Joshua son of Nun and Caleb

son of Jephunneh, who were among those who

had explored the land, tore their clothes

7 and said to the entire Israelite assembly, "The

land we passed through and explored is

exceedingly good.

8 If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into

that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and

will give it to us.

9 Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not

be afraid of the people of the land, because we

b.43

will swallow them up. Their protection is gone,

but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them."

After a careful study of the above scriptures, one

will see that Caleb and Joshua urged the other

spies to change their report by changing their “I

AMs”. Caleb’s I AM was that they were capable. He

said “… for we can certainly do it”.

Joshua similarly said, “… we will swallow them up”.

These are positives “I AMs” in the face of seemingly

impossible and insurmountable adversities. They

believed and confessed that they could take the

land because the Lord was with them. That is what

our “I AM’s” are supposed to be – Positive, because

God is with us.

Stop looking at yourself, look at the God factor.

b.44

YOUR I AMs WILL BECOME YOUR REALITY

I can state without any modicum of doubt that your

“I AMs” will become your reality if you confess

them. Let’s consider these scriptures.

After they have spread the bad report, “That night

all the people of the community raised their voices

and wept aloud. 2 All the Israelites grumbled

against Moses and Aaron, and the whole

assembly said to them, "If only we had died in

Egypt! Or in this desert!” (Numbers 14:1-2)

Then in Numbers 14: 27 - The Lord said to Moses

and Aaron:

27 "How long will this wicked community grumble

against me? I have heard the complaints of these

grumbling Israelites.

b.45

28 So tell them, 'As surely as I live, declares the

Lord, I will do to you the very things I heard you

say:

29 In this desert your bodies will fall — every one

of you twenty years old or more who was counted

in the census and who has grumbled against me.

30 Not one of you will enter the land I swore with

uplifted hand to make your home, except Caleb

son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun. 31 As for

your children that you said would be taken as

plunder, I will bring them in to enjoy the land you

have rejected.

32 But you — your bodies will fall in this desert.

b.46

33 Your children will be shepherds here for forty

years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the

last of your bodies lies in the desert.

34 For forty years — one year for each of the forty

days you explored the land — you will suffer for

your sins and know what it is like to have me

against you.'

35 I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will surely do

these things to this whole wicked community,

which has banded together against me. They will

meet their end in this desert; here they will die."

36 So the men Moses had sent to explore the land,

who returned and made the whole community

grumble against him by spreading a bad report

about it — 37 these men responsible for spreading

b.47

the bad report about the land were struck down

and died of a plague before the Lord. 38 Of the

men who went to explore the land, only Joshua

son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh survived

It can be seen from the above verses that God was

basically saying this to them “because you wished

you had died in the desert, that is going to be your

reality. I am going to do all that you have said”.

You said you are not capable of taking the land so

you are never going to set foot on it”.

Moreover, true to their own words, all the

Israelites who grumbled and confessed negative “I

AMs”, made that their reality; they died in the

desert and thus were not able to truly take the land

just as they had confessed.

b.48

Joshua and Caleb however did possess the land.

Beloved, let us do the basics first. Start with who

you are.

Dearly beloved, your “I AMs” have power. If you

don’t positively confess them, they are going to

affect you negatively.

b.49

CHAPTER FOUR

WATCH YOUR I AM’S

In the beginning, after God had created man, he

put him in charge of all that He had created and

asked him to have dominion over them. The Bible

says that whatever Adam called the creations of

God, those became the names of those things.

God had given man dominion and control over all

things in his life and asked him to speak to create

or effect changes in his world.

The Bible says God spoke and things came into

being during creation. Perhaps one of the most

popular statements God made to that effect was

b.50

“Let there be Light…” After God had said that, light

appeared.

Being created in the image and likeness of God, we

carry the same power in our mouths and

perceptions of ourselves.

Your “I AMs” are the total make up of your

thoughts of who you are; your real self. One may

ask the question, “WHO AM I? “

Let us revisit Genesis 1:26-27 for the answer.

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in

our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the

sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock,

over all the earth, and over all the creatures that

move along the ground."

b.51

27 So God created man in his own image, in the

image of God he created him; male and female he

created them.

Now, the above scriptures make us understand

that we were created in God’s own image meaning

that as God is, so are we. In fact what this means is

that if God is Omnipotent, then our abilities as sons

and daughters of God are limitless. We are capable

of doing anything through Christ who strengthens

us.

If God has the potential of creating the whole

world just by calling things forth, then we can also

create our dream or ideal world by confessing

positivity into our lives. It is that simple.

b.52

WRONG PERCEPTION OF SELF

The bible says that for lack of knowledge, my

people perish. This singular verse continues to be

one of my favorite verses in the bible since I have

seen it manifest so many times in my life and that

of others.

Truly, because we do not know we are in Christ or

who God created us to be, we often end up living

very mediocre lives which do not bring glory to our

Father in heaven, God.

God sees us for who we really are; who He created

us to be. A classic example can be found in the

book of Judges 6:11-15 –

The angel of the Lord came and sat down under

the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the

b.53

Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing

wheat in a winepress to keep it from the

Midianites.

12 When the angel of the Lord appeared to

Gideon, he said, "The Lord is with you, mighty

warrior."

13 "But sir," Gideon replied, "if the Lord is with us,

why has all this happened to us? Where are all his

wonders that our fathers told us about when they

said, 'Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?'

But now the Lord has abandoned us and put us

into the hand of Midian."

14 The Lord turned to him and said, "Go in the

strength you have and save Israel out of Midian's

hand. Am I not sending you?" 15 "But Lord,"

b.54

Gideon asked, "how can I save Israel? My clan is

the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my

family.

God looked at Gideon and saw a mighty warrior.

God saw Gideon for who he really created him to

be in spite of his current circumstances or the

might of his clan. Gideon himself confessed his

negative circumstances instead of accepting who

God was saying he really was. He really didn’t have

a clue that the salvation of the nation of Israel from

the Midianites was in his hands regardless of the

fact that he was the least of his clan.

Your knowledge and perception of yourself is

everything when it comes to unlocking your

potential. See yourself for who God has really made

you.

b.55

People looked at David the shepherd boy and saw

him for who they thought he was, just a shepherd

boy. But God saw a lion and bear slayer in him and

above all, one of the most illustrious kings Israel

was ever going to have.

Gideon saw himself as the least of his clan. In fact,

whilst others were going to war, he was threshing

wheat. However, God looked at him and saw in him

a mighty warrior.

People look at a seed and discard it as irrelevant

sometimes when they are enjoying a fruit but God

sees that seed and knows that from that seed, a

whole forest will be birthed.

Watch your I AMs dearly beloved. Before you say

anything negative about yourself, see yourself for

b.56

who God created you to be and who he has made

you to be. You are perfect and have limitless

potential because you were created in the image of

God Himself.

Change your glasses, stop seeing from your

perspective. Start seeing from God’s perspective.

b.57

CHAPTER FIVE

SPEAK POSITIVELY OR ZIP IT UP

I was intrigued when I was told that my mouth is

what has ended me where I was today. I was simply

told that my life is directed by my mouth. It

sounded so strange until I read and understood the

scripture I am about to share with you:

Indeed, we put bits in horses' mouths that they

may obey us, and we turn their whole body. Look

also at ships: although they are so large and are

driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very

small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so

the tongue is a little member and boasts great

things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The

b.58

tongue is so set among our members that it defiles

the whole body, and sets on fire the course of

nature; and it is set on fire by hell. James 3: 3-6

(NIV).

The horse is directed by changing the direction of

its mouth. When the mouth moves left the horse

moves left. When the mouth moves right, the

horse moves right.

Same thing with our mouth. We use it like the

rudder of a ship to direct our lives. Watch what you

say.

Also, the above scripture is so telling on why we are

living the lives we are living now. The words we

speak have power – the power to push our lives

towards the glorious promises God has purposed

b.59

for us or push us far away from them. The scripture

likens the tongue to fire. An old adage says “Fire is

a good servant but a bad master” comes into mind

anytime I think of this scripture. The difference

between a master and a servant is control. The

servant is under the control of the master and does

the will of the master. If you do not control the

fires you set with your tongue, you are likely to

burn your whole destiny to ashes by the negative

words we speak. Just as fire helps us cook delicious

meals, fight the cold and keep ourselves warm and

gives us light, our words can also serve us well if we

subject them to our control.

However just as fire destroys if not controlled, we

will end up destroying our lives by our tongue and

the words we confess with it.

b.60

THE IDLE WORD TRAP

Jesus puts all of this in a very “scary” way in Matt

12:36-37. It reads;

”But I say to you that for every idle word men may

speak, they will give account of it in the day of

judgment.

37 For by your words you will be justified, and by

your words you will be condemned (NKJV)

The word “Idle” in this verse means any careless,

unproductive word or negative statement. This just

means that God is going to judge us on every

careless word we utter. Cast your mind back to all

the negatives words we have used on ourselves

and on others. Look at your life now and you will

b.61

see a correlation between the words you have used

and your status now.

Unconsciously or consciously, we build the lives we

live now by the words we speak; by our “I AMs”.

Most people have been trapped by the careless

and idle words they have spoken in the past and

they are having adverse effects on them today.

However, I am glad that the grace of God has

appeared and there is a chance to correct that

now. What you have destroyed by your mouth, you

can build them back with your mouth.

It is often said that if you want to change your

fruits, change your seeds. Dearly beloved, if you

want to see a positive change in your life, you

better confess positively into your life.

b.62

Ever heard of the statement “Silence is golden?” If

you do not have anything better to say, please do

not speak. Just zip it.

Your words will justify you. You said you are great. Your words will justify you, they will make you great. You words will condemn you. You said you are poor, your words will condemn you to poverty.

b.63

CHAPTER SIX

PUT A GUARD OVER YOUR MOUTH

As revealed earlier, your tongue and by extension

our mouth has the power to make or unmake you.

In fact Proverbs 18: 21 says clearly that “The

tongue has the power of life and death, and those

who love it will eat its fruit.” (NIV)

This means that whether you live or die is

dependent on the words you utter concerning your

life. Before you go blaming someone for your

failure, a chronic disease or any ills that have

plagued your life, reflect on the words you have

said concerning your life for in there will you find

the cause of your problems.

b.64

THE WHOLESOME AND LOOSE TONGUE

Proverbs 15:4 - A wholesome tongue is a tree of

life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit (NKJV)

The above scripture makes us understand that we

are to cultivate the habit of keeping a wholesome

or gentle tongue.

Our tongues can be gentle if we practice the habit

of making it so by constantly infusing the word of

God into our daily vocabulary. It is surely the only

way we can prevent our tongues from uttering very

destructive words.

A wholesome tongue is a tongue that has been

beaten into submission and kept under subjection

b.65

by the word of God and the power of the Holy

Spirit. God delights in people who possess such

tongues.

Wholesome tongues are beneficial to ourselves and

to others. In fact, one cannot have successful

human relationships if they do not have a gentle or

wholesome tongue. This is because we can choose

to edify, bless or gladden people with the words we

say to them or choose to curse or make them sad.

Everyone likes people with wholesome tongues.

An old navy saying goes like “loose tongues sinks

ships”. This saying was to serve as a warning to all

crew men on board to be very circumspect in the

things they say.

b.66

This is very needful since someone with a loose

tongue will surely give out very sensitive details to

the enemy which will result in their attack. For this

reason, the statement was coined to instruct the

crewmen to guard their tongues; in other words,

be very careful about the words that proceed out

of your mouths.

Likewise you have no business of talking loosely if

you desire to have a better life than you have now.

Tame your tongue. Put a guard over your mouth

and choose your words carefully.

b.67

CHAPTER SEVEN

LET THE REDEEMED SAY SO

The word Redeem means to save from sins or

restore one back to his or her former worth. Thus

to be redeemed means to be saved from our sins

and its effects and to be restored. As Christians, we

have been redeemed by the great sacrifice of Jesus

on the cross.

Now lets take a look closely at how we were

redeemed in the book of Romans 10: 9 -10. It

reads;

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is

Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised

him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is

b.68

with your heart that you believe and are justified,

and it is with your mouth that you confess and are

saved.(NIV)

It can be comprehended from the above verses

that even our redemption and salvation was as a

result of confessing what we believed in our hearts.

It can be argued that if we did not confess or say

with our mouths that “Jesus is Lord, and that God

raised him from the dead”, our salvation would

have been non-existent.

Beloved, I cannot stress enough how much our

confessions control our lives. What we believe and

say about ourselves go a long way to shape our

lives.

b.69

If your confessions can buy you salvation, you must

know that they can also buy you condemnation and

destruction.

CONFESS YOUR REDEMPTION NOT YOUR

JUDGEMENT

On the cross, there was a divine exchange between

man and Jesus as he gave his life for your sake. Due

to that exchange, a lot of things have changed in

your life and in your spirit. The more you confess

and create that consciousness around you, the

better for you.

1. We are HEALED. Sickness has no power over

you.

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He

was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement

b.70

for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we

are healed. Isa 53:5-6 (NKJV)

2. Jesus was made poor so that you may be

rich. We are a prosperous people. You are

rich.

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus

Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your

sakes he became poor, so that you through his

poverty might become rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9

(NIV)

3. We are the righteousness of God. God sees

us as righteous

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us,

so that in him we might become the

righteousness of God. 2 Cor 8:9 (NIV)

b.71

Beloved, Jesus did not only pay your debts, save

you from sin and death alone. He made you rich.

He made you righteous and He healed you. You are

rich. You are righteous and you are healed.

Poverty has no power over you. If you are poor, get

to work and break the arm of poverty over you.

You are rich. Let it manifest. Sin has no power over

you. Sickness has no power over you.

Confess them and let them become a reality in your

life. That is the essence of the price Jesus paid for

your redemption.

DO NOT WRECK YOUR LIFE OUT OF IGNORANCE

AND INACTION.

We cannot confess what God through Jesus has

made us if we are actually ignorant about it. If we

b.72

truly don’t know about who we have been made in

Christ Jesus, we can truly not confess them.

The best way to find out about what God has made

us in Christ Jesus is to seek for the answers through

scriptures under the leading of the Holy Spirit.

The Bible puts this concisely in the Acts 20: 32;

"Now I commit you to God and to the word of his

grace, which can build you up and give you an

inheritance among all those who are sanctified”.

Watch the word that was used – “INHERITANCE”.

Your inheritance is what you have been given by

your benefactor’s will. If your benefactor leaves

you a million dollars in their will, you automatically

become a millionaire.

b.73

As Christians, we also have our inheritance in

Christ. When God himself came in a form of man to

die to save us, he left us an inheritance. That

inheritance is what God has made you in Christ

Jesus.

Confess and own them.

CHANGING YOUR I AMs (PRACTICAL)

1. Take two clean sheets of papers. On one sheet,

write all that is going wrong in your life; all the

negatives. For instance, I AM broke, I AM not

intelligent, I AM not capable of starting my own

business etc.

2. Now, take the other sheet of paper and reverse

all those negatives in light of who you know God

has made you. The best part about this is that you

b.74

are not writing a bunch of random words just to

hype yourself but your potential and capabilities

because God’s word said YOU CAN and You ARE.

3. Tear the paper that contains all your negatives

and dump it in a trash.

4. Confess the positive I AMs and I CANs to yourself

for as many times as you can.

5. Place or paste that sheet of paper anywhere you

can see it often and repeat step 4.

Do this till you know and understand who you are.

Now believe them, work at them and see them

become real in your life and dictate your actions.

b.75

CHAPTER EIGHT

THE I AM’S OF JESUS

Jesus knew who he was right from the beginning.

He confessed it repeatedly and there are a litany of

scriptures that prove this.

In the Bible Jesus never for once said anything

negative about himself. All that followed his I AMs

were positive. Thus it’s no error that he led such a

fulfilled and glorious life.

Let’s look at some of the I AMs of Jesus Christ.

1. I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE

John 6:35 - Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of

life. He who comes to me will never go hungry,

b.76

and he who believes in me will never be thirsty

(NIV)

John 6:48 - I am the bread of life (NIV)

John 6:51- I am the living bread that came down

from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will

live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will

give for the life of the world."

Jesus was so sure of this one in particular he

repeated it in 3 different portions in the book of

John.

2. I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

John 8:12 - When Jesus spoke again to the people,

he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever

b.77

follows me will never walk in darkness, but will

have the light of life." (NIV)

John 9:5 - While I am in the world, I am the light of

the world (NIV)

3. I AM THE GATE

John 10:7 - Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you

the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. (NIV)

John 10:9 - I am the gate; whoever enters through

me will be saved. (NIV)

4. I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD

John 10:11 - I am the good shepherd. The good

shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. (NIV)

b.78

John 10:14 -I am the good shepherd; I know my

sheep and my sheep know me (NIV)

5. I AM THE RESSURECTION AND LIFE

John 11:25 – 26; Jesus said to her, "I am the

resurrection and the life. He who believes in me

will live, even though he dies; 26 and whoever

lives and believes in me will never die. Do you

believe this? (NIV)

6. I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE

John 14:6; Jesus answered, "I am the way and the

truth and the life. No one comes to the Father

except through me. (NIV)

7. I AM THE TRUE VINE

b.79

John 15:1 - I am the true vine, and my Father is the

gardener.(NIV)

b.80

CONCLUSION

Dearly beloved, now you know who you are. You

now know why and how your “I AMs” affect your

life.

You now know how your words, perception and

beliefs about yourself go a long way to affect your

life. Now you are better off than you were when

you picked up this book.

However, knowledge is not enough. Knowledge

without action doesn’t lead to any significant

progress.

Confess who you have been made in Christ, let it

affect your mindset and your actions it to make it a

reality. You are blessed.
