AWS PRODUCT FEATURES

AND BENEFITS

2015

Why Air? • Improved Feeding

• Reduced Shatter loss

• Yield gains of 1-4 bushel/acre on average

• Faster Ground Speeds

Imagine evenly feeding your crop into the head, reducing your shatter

loss without mechanically touching it to do so. AWS Systems have the

ability to blow air in excess of 200mph. Moving the crop quickly off the

knife into the header.

The CompanyAWS is individually owned company focused on Customer Service

AWS was originated through an independent John

Deere Dealer in Ontario, Canada. Its goal was to

simplify the concept of adding air to combine

headers and realize the benefits of air across a wide

range of crops. AWS – Advanced Wind-Reel Systems

is owned by Jeff Dolmage and Mike DeCorte. Both

raised on farms, we have been involved in the

agriculture sector for our entire lives. We have both

worked at CaseIH and John Deere dealerships in

the past. As owners, we are both actively involved

in our roles within the company and are in touch

with today’s farming equipment, practice’s and

challenges.

The Fan Belt Drive vs Gearbox

AWS Belt drive fans are designed to be the most efficient fan on the market. Belts are a very simple way

of transferring energy and horsepower without creating excessive heat to do so. Gearbox drives run

considerably hotter utilize greater horsepower and place undue stress on the combine feeder-house

drive because of the excess torque. AWS Belt drive fans are much lighter when mounted on the back of

the header compared to a gearbox drive and offer easy serviceability. A simple more efficient fan

means a more efficient system producing more air for todays larger headers.

AWS Competitor “C”

Why We Think Vertically

Competitor “C” Elbow Extension Kitadditional cost to try and achieve the same result

Farmer fix shield on Competitor “C”to try and keep the rotary screenclean

By mounting the fan vertically behind the header the rotary

screen stays cleaner. The cleaner the screen stays the more

air the fan can put out. Furthermore you reduce the amount

of trash that the fan takes in which increases fan impellor life

and reduces plugged nozzles.

The Importance Of FlowThe smoother the airflow from the fan, less restriction equals more air.

Competitor “C” this will get caught and tear as well as shell out crop

Competitor “C” uses allot of hose and bends leading to reduced air flow

Air supply tight to the head, not in the crop. Does not effect the header’s overall width

Hose runs straight, with little restriction

AWS 1 Piece Air Manifolds• The ability to span up to 40’ for some models of headers.

• Stronger compared to Competitor “C” 3 piece bolt together system.

• Air restrictors balance out air flow in the main pipe.

• Uniform air flow the entire length of the head.

• Our unique cable truss system further minimizes deflection in the pipe.

AWS Split-Reel Air Manifolds

Notice the build up still in the

corners of head with Competitor

“C” system. The AWS System has

a nozzle in this position at each

end of the head and utilizes

more nozzles per/ft. of head to

prevent dead spots.

Not All Air Systems Perform The Same...

Competitor “C” has no nozzles in the corners of the head like the AWS System

AWS Nozzle Design

Due to the incline of the draper canvass and the more forward position of the reel when combining with a

draper head, we use 48” long double bend nozzles to better wrap the reel and move the crop more

effectively from the knife.

AWS 48” Double Bend Nozzle

Competitor “C” 36’ Nozzle

Competitor “C” 42’ Nozzle

Competitor “C” uses the same alternating 36/42” nozzle combination on all headers. (AWS actually first

used this pattern 12 years ago but quickly found using an all long pattern was more effective). AWS uses 3

different nozzle styles applied to specific headers and crops to ensure the greatest effectiveness.

A self contained fused switch box located

conveniently on your console allows the operator

to control the volume of air from within the cab.

Air direction relative to the knife is also controlled

though the same box. Actuators feature limit switch's

to prevent damage.

More Than Air ReelsSince our inception it has never been our premise to not take away from the

manufactures header design only to further compliment and enhance their

efficiency. We continue to do that and were the first to offer brush kits for drapers

and floor replacement kits for certain manufacturers of heads.
