Smart New Signs!
We are so pleased with our smart new signs and noticeboard which were installed last week. Many thanks to Skinny Design and Ark Sign & Digital.
Sunflowers Class News
Our theme this term is ‘Why can’t we have chocolate for breakfast?’ We would like to say a big thank
you to all parents who attended and enjoyed a ‘continental’ style breakfast with us. The children used
their excellent phonics knowledge to take orders. They learned a new skill, buttering toast and adding
toppings—there were not many takers for Marmite! The children have learned to make bread rolls and
our friends from Kell Bank joined us to help make a healthy flapjack.
We are learning all about number ten in Numberblocks. Emily noticed that ten has five lots of twos, and
Clarence responded with ‘ten has two lots of five’. Excellent work, Sunflowers!
Dates for your diary…

Owls Class News
We are really enjoying the ‘Land Ahoy’ topic. We have created a timeline of famous explorers and
discovered that Marco Polo was one of the first explorers to discover Asia—he walked over land from
Italy. We also found out that Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas by mistake!
In science, we have been testing materials in readiness for making our boats. We had a lot of fun creating
a fair test to see what materials float and sink.
We have also enjoyed a British Values song workshop, where we learnt a new song about different British
Values. After that, we created posters for each of the five values, which will be displayed in school.
Red Kites Class News
It’s hard to believe we haven't been back at school for two full weeks yet! We have had lots of things
going on: two trips to Bewerley Park for the Y5 and Y6 children; a very cold, wet and windy Tag Rugby
competition at Bedale High; a British Values session; and a great morning of drama to introduce our new
topic, 'I am Warrior', which will focus on the Romans. Check out the Latest News section of our school
website to see photos of us doing our best rowdy Romans impersonations!
