Good Design Store The Japan Institute for Design Promotion (JDP) has teamed up with Shane Suvikapakornkul of Serindia Gallery and Hardcover Book Store to launch a new boutique dedicated to award-winning design from Japan’s Good Design (or G Mark) Award. The selec-tion comes mostly from Japanese designers (of course), rang-ing from iconic pieces like Sori Yanagi’s Butterfly Stool (B24,000) from 1966, to newer designs such as the Kisaragi dining chair (B52,300) by Hida Sangyo company and the super-cool Urushi card case (B8,200) by Kirimoto Wooden Craft Factory, which they make from one piece of bent pinewood polished to give it a leather-like texture. After successful collaborations with prominent designers such as Paul Smith, KENZO and Elie Saab, Evian announces its latest partnership with Alexander Wang, who represents the van-guard of New York’s fashion industry through his minimal, cutting-edge designs known to re-contextualize the typical urban uniform.

Born in San Francisco, Alexander Wang traveled to New York to Attend Parsons’ School of Design, and quickly rose to prominence in 2008, receiving top honors as a recipient of the highly competitive Vogue/Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Fund. Wang was crowned Swarovski’s Womenswear Designer of the Year in 2009, which pushed him to new heights in the fashion industry and coin-cided with the launch of his equally-edgy second line, t by Alexander Wang. Two years later, Wang was named GQ’s Best Menswear Designer of the year, and won the prestigious CFDA award for Best Accessory Designer. Worldwide recognition quickly followed, and his avant-garde, ready-to-wear collections can now be found in 25 stores worldwide.

Evian water was born in the heart of the French Alps, and goes through a 15-year jour-ney, over impermeable rocks and through glacial sands. As the water travels, it chemically breaks down and rebuilds to acquire its unique mineral composition. When Evian water finally emerges, it is as pure as nature crafted it, at its freshest and purest state.

Breaking down something orderly to recon-struct it into an enhanced state of purity is com-mon to Evian and Alexander Wang. Wang chose to express that through two contrasting bot-tles this year—one black and one white—to symbolize purity as a duality of two extremes.
