To comply with the industry working standards, OSHA and safety compliance requirements are to be met for any industry staffing in US, especially for the automotive industry, which hires a major chunk of light and heavy industrial resources. The major challenge for the client and MSP was to identify a staffing supplier who had a strong local presence and could source a pre-qualified pool of labor that met the compliance and safety requirements.

Light industrial labor is one of the top 10 most difficult to fill positions in 2016. There are multiple reasons for this, including labor availability, cost, compliance and safety. Finding temp labor is a challenge for staffing suppliers that do not have a widespread geographical presence in the US. The strict demands of compliance and safety requirements created addtional hurdles in the path to hire.

The major challenge for staffing industry MSPs is to find a supplier with a strong local presence and a pre-qualified pool of labor on hand that meets the compliance and safety requirements.

Compunnel acted quickly by deploying three different teams on and off-site to on-board the required labor on time. The teams were flexible and proactive in meeting client demands.

One of the world’s leading automobile manufacturers wanted to hire nearly 200 lightindustrial workers at their production and assembly sites in Michigan. The requirement arose suddenly as the company decided to boost the production of its electric vehicles after recovering from a slump.

Although there was a well-established MSP program in place, many of the suppliers did not have the local footprint to source such a large number of resources at all the sites in Michigan. They also lacked the sufficient resources on standby in the form of a pre-qualified pool of workers. The additional safety training and compliance requirements also added to the difficulty of the situation.

Compunnel deployed a large Quick Response Team (QRT) consisting of 15 members in Michigan at the client's head office to ensure that the required labor was on-boarded on time. The teams were flexible and proactive in meeting the client demands.

Temp labor is considered as crucial in our project. Due to our safety requirements, we wanted to engage a supplier that has a defined mechanism to ensure compliance while delivering resources who could go to speed as soon as possible.

The client's compliance and safety requirements were a major roadblock to installing the workforce quickly. Compunnel's main QRT ensured that the labor pool on standby in Michigan went through the entirety of the JJ Keller workplace safety training. They also conducted quick, automated interviews to re-screen workers and initiate them within 24 hours.

Compunnel's strong geographic coverage in the US was especially important to solving the client's problem in this case. Having offices located in Bingham Farms, Dearborn and Detroit was the key factor to a quick turnaround in this project.

Smaller QRTs of 3 were deployed to the actual sites. These consisted of Hiring Managers as well as Account Managers who understood the client's requirements in-depth. They worked with the MSP as well as the client's recruitment team to further expedite the screening and hiring process by conducting automated over the phone interviews.

Furthermore, Compunnel's thorough vetting of profiles ensured that anyone hired had already undergone the workplace training required by the client. An induction program was also held to ensure that the on-site safety standards were clear to any new hires. The workforce was implemented in batches of 20 per day to the three sites within a 2 week period.

By covering all possible bases for the client, Compunnel was able to solve the client's immediate need well within their required timeframe.
