The purpose of this project is to develop aspecialized software that analyzes the currentstate and performance factors of a given CNCmachine in a cyclical manner and

automatically adjusts the working parametersto compensate the harmful effects of mechanical wear due to prolonged use.

Thus its main goal is to maintain product

quality and machine precision at a high levelwithout the need for complex and time-consuming manual adjustments.

Given the small scale of this venture the overallresource pool is very limited and it is essential

for the project to remain within the projectedprice range. Going over budget would havedifficult consequences and should be avoided if the company is to thrive in the future.

A good survey of the present market should becarried out and potential clients as well ascompetitors should be scouted out and takeninto consideration. The target-customer

market is a number of well-established Germanand Japanese CNC machine manufacturers. Ourintent is to market our product to them in orderto have it sold as a bundle with their standardequipment and firmware.

After gaining a good understanding of themarket and the forces that drive it in thisparticular sector, development guidelines, essential product features and work packages

have to be defined.

Also the development tasks have to be handedout in order for them to be executed by thedesignated team member.

The design has to be generated based on thefeatures established prior to starting theproject.

The team has acquired the necessaryexperience in the functioning and operation of the CNC machines and is now qualified tobegin the software development phase. Thecoding process will closely follow the aspectsset in the design phase.

As is customary in the software industry all therecommended practices will be followed inregard to the testing and the validation phasesin order to have a refined, mature and well

working software product at the end of ourdevelopment process.

Also we intend to thoroughly check for bugsand design flaws after each importantmilestone achieved in programming.

After the product has been through the test

and validation phases it is time to deploy it onthe market.

This highly anticipated step will hopefullymark the success of our project.

As we are dedicated to the success of ourclients we will continuously provide support forour product for its entire life-cycle.

These post-development activities will alsogenerate a most welcome source of steadyrevenue with which we intend to fund our

future projects.

By using Microsoft’s Project 2010’s features wemanaged to plan our activties regarding thedevelopment of our software product in a quickand efficient manner.

We defined our tasks, resources, timeframes anddeadlines fast and stress-free by using its manyinterfaces and examples provided freely on theinternet by Microsoft.

Thus a project manager’s work of planning

ahead, estimating project costs, assessing riskand managing different situations is substantiallyenhanced.
