Australia and New Zealand are among the most popular stops on our Around the World

itineraries. Now, we’re offering a unique journey combining the continent of Australia

and the islands of Tasmania and New Zealand into one rich travel experience. Designed

to showcase the best of this part of the Southern Hemisphere, our itinerary pairs

natural wonders such as Ayers Rock, Milford Sound and the Great Barrier Reef with

world-class wineries.

AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

Discover the arts in Australia’s cultural capital.

March 22 –23

Once the seat of Australia’s government,

Melbourne is now the nation’s cultural

capital. This garden city is home to a

vibrant art scene and more than 460

music venues. It was the second city in

the world to be named a UNESCO City of

Literature. Melbourne is also the leading

financial center in the Asia-Pacific region

and is consistently ranked among the

world’s most livable cities.

Arrive in Melbourne independently and

meet fellow guests and expedition staff

for a welcome dinner. On your first full day

in Australia, embark on a guided morning

walking tour designed to encompass

the best of the city. Visit Old Melbourne

Gaol, the iconic landmark that houses the

city’s oldest prison and where infamous

bushranger Ned Kelly met his demise.

Enjoy a trip to the Ian Potter Centre—the

first major gallery devoted exclusively to

Australian art. In the evenings, take in the

culture and flavors of the city.

Accommodations Overlooking St. Patrick’s Cathedral

and Fitzroy Gardens, the Park Hyatt

Melbourne offers luxury accommodation

in the heart of the city. The hotel features

the award-winning ‘radi’ restaurant and

bar, a relaxing day spa, an indoor pool and

a private sun deck.

Established as a penal colony for British

convicts, Hobart is now the capital

and largest city in Tasmania. The city’s

deepwater port led to rapid growth during

the 1800s, as Hobart became a center for

the Southern Ocean whaling and sealing

trade. Today, the port continues to play a

major role in Hobart’s economy, serving as

a gateway for Antarctic exploration. From

its history of imprisonment and industry,

Hobart developed a distinctive artistic

community.

Hobart is home to remarkably well-

preserved buildings including Salamanca

Place, rows of sandstone former

warehouses that now house popular

restaurants and shops. Choose to explore

Hobart with Louisa’s Walk, a live theater

event that provides a real-life account

of an Irish convict imprisoned in Tasmania

during the 1840s. Or opt for a tour of

Tasmania’s whisky distilleries. In the

evening, travel to the MONA gallery for

a private showing and a dinner held in the

Nolan gallery.

AccommodationsA distinctive five-star hotel on Hobart’s

waterfront, The Henry Jones Art Hotel

is home to a continuously changing

collection of more than 500 pieces of

artwork. Each room in the hotel is curated

to create an individual impression that

lives up to Henry Jones’ motto—IXL

(I excel in everything I do).

A sea lion on Kangaroo Island // Australia

On March 25 we land at Adelaide and split into two groups. Half will depart for

Kangaroo Island in a smaller chartered jet. The other half will continue to Ayers Rock.

On the 27th our groups switch and those who visited Kangaroo Island will travel to

Ayers Rock. Everyone will spend two nights at each location.

Kangaroo Island Home to the richest and most diverse

variety of plant life in Australia, Kangaroo

Island is a natural wonder. You’ll embark

on a guided island excursion and discover

the teeming wildlife and dramatic

landscapes that give this island the

nickname “Australia’s Galápagos.” You’ll

meet many native inhabitants, including

Tammar wallabies—which are almost

extinct on the mainland, and the island’s

endemic kangaroos. We top off our visit

at the Seal Bay Conservation Park

to watch pups nurse and play on the

sandy beaches.

AccommodationsThe Southern Ocean Lodge is among the

world’s premier island destinations. This

luxury lodge is stretched along the length

of a cliff above a rugged beach, affording

breathtaking views. The lodge offers

attentive service and unmatched access

to the island’s wilderness and wildlife.

Ayers Rock One of the continent’s most impressive

natural wonders, Ayers Rock is a UNESCO

World Heritage site. Its natural springs

and caves were used by generations

of Aboriginal people who painted the

symbols of their culture on the rock.

We’ll return to our accommodations at

Longitude 131˚ just before the sun goes

down for picturesque 360-degree views,

pre-dinner champagne and canapés. After

the sun sets, enjoy a gourmet dinner of

Australian barbecue complemented by

local wines and the expansive night sky.

AccommodationsLocated at the edge of the Uluru-Kata

Tjuta National Park, Longitude 131˚ is a

luxury tented camp with a breathtaking

view of Ayers Rock. A flowing fabric “tent”

covers each of the sophisticated pavilions

at Longitude 131˚, adding authentic flavor.

A stay here is a truly luxurious experience,

with unobstructed views of Ayers Rock.

On March 29, the last day of our visit to

the region, the Kangaroo Island party will

meet the jet in Adelaide. Once boarded,

the plane will continue to Ayers Rock to

collect the remainder of the guests before

continuing to our next stop in Cairns.

Great Barrier Reef // Australia

Two of the world’s most incredible

ecosystems converge on the shores of

the Cape York Peninsula. Here, the

tropical rainforests of Queensland meet

the incredible sea life of the Great Barrier

Reef. Both environments contain a

diversity of life rivaling any other on Earth.

Our exploration of these two natural

wonders begins with a private cruise

of the Great Barrier Reef. This UNESCO

World Heritage site is a habitat for more

than 1,500 species of fish and 400 types

of coral. A guided snorkel tour of the reef

allows you to explore the coral features

and meet the colorful inhabitants face to

face. Turtle sightings are always likely—the

reef is home to six species of sea turtles,

including the endangered Loggerhead

sea turtle.

The following day, explore the serene

beauty of the Daintree Rainforest’s

Copper Creek Wilderness, the

centerpiece of which is the oldest

surviving rainforest in the world, more

than 135 million years old. The rainforests

of Daintree National Park are home to

hundreds of species of rare plants, birds

and mammals.

AccommodationsCradled in nature, Niramaya Villas and

Spa offers comfort, luxury and relaxation

in the heart of the popular beach resort

town of Port Douglas. The intimate rooms

balance modern design with traditional

tropical elements that afford a private

natural experience.

Created over 26,000 years ago by a

supervolcanic eruption, Lake Taupo is

a caldera filled with blue and turquoise

waters. White clouds and snow-capped

mountains rise above its steaming craters

and geysers such as Pohutu, producing an

otherworldly appearance. The lake’s shore

is lined with hot springs, a reminder that

the volcano is dormant, not extinct.

The shore town of Taupo is located on the

banks of this expansive lake. Explore the

resort town or stroll along the Huka Falls

Spa Park Walk, a path that follows the

Waikato River above the falls. Learn about

the culture of the native Ma–ori people,

who created elaborate rock carvings to

prevent volcanic eruptions.

Take in this dramatic body of water by

exploring the shore and paths on foot or

by mountain bike. Aspiring fly fishers can

spend a half-day on the nearby Waikato

River, which offers world-class brown and

rainbow trout. Enjoy a round of golf at

Cape Kidnappers // New Zealand

Named by Captain Cook, the Hawke’s

Bay region is characterized by broad

agricultural plains and beautiful rugged

beaches. Much of the landscape is

devoted to orchards and vineyards, which

do well in the dry, temperate climate. The

region is a world-renowned wine producer

and is home to approximately 75 wineries.

The bay itself is punctuated by the

dramatic headland known as Cape

Kidnappers. Its steep white cliffs stretch

into the bay, terminating in two large

sea stacks. The cape is named for an

attempted kidnapping of a member of

Cook’s expedition that was carried out

by Ma–ori warriors.

Our base at Cape Kidnappers is ideal for

an exploration of Hawke’s Bay. Explore the

town of Napier and nearby Elephant Hill

estate, an innovative winery set on the

stunning coastline. Golfers can play a

round at the world-famous Cape

Kidnappers, a scenic course designed by

golf architect Tom Doak.

Leaving an expedition in progress, for any reason whatsoever, will not result in a refund, and no refunds will be made for any unused portions of an expedition. TCS reserves the right to cancel any expedition because of inadequate enrollment that makes the Tour economically

infeasible to operate. If TCS cancels the Tour prior to departure, you will receive a full refund of monies paid. Please note that costs for visas, commercial air tickets, insurance, suite upgrades, and pre- or post-tour independent arrangements may not be refundable.

Security Agreement: Your payments are held in an escrow account at The Commerce Bank of Washington (“TCBW”), 601 Union Street, Suite 3600, Seattle, WA 98101-1342. Participants are protected by a Letter of Credit #592 issued by TCBW (the “Security Agreement”). Any claims against this Security Agreement must be filed with TCS or TCBW within 60 days of the termination of the Tour. After that time, TCS and TCBW will be released from liability under the Security Agreement.

Insurance: TCS strongly recommends this important protection, which can save you money if you are forced to cancel or alter your trip. Insurance premium payments are nonrefundable.

Baggage: On the private jet, each Participant is limited to 70 pounds of checked baggage in 2 bags (one standard bag and one wheeled duffle bag) that TCS will provide for use on the Tour, plus a few smaller carry-on items such as a backpack, purse, camera, and/or laptop. In certain countries you will fly on private light aircraft. Due to weight restrictions on these flights you will only be allowed to use your TCS wheeled duffle bag. For these flights, your TCS wheeled duffle bag plus your hand-carry luggage (including camera equipment) may not exceed 28 pounds. For international flights, the air carrier’s liability is limited to the actual value of the baggage but not more than 1,000 Special Drawing Rights, approximately $1,250 per passenger, unless a higher value is declared at the time of check-in and an appropriate excess valuation charge is paid. Baggage, when not handled by TCS, and personal effects are at all times the sole responsibility of the Participant.

Aircraft: The private jet flights will be performed using a Fokker 70 jet with 48 VIP-style seats. The air carrier for the Tour will be Alliance Airlines Pty Ltd, 81 Pandanus Avenue, PO Box 1126, Brisbane Airport QLD 4009, Australia. Operator and the air carrier reserve the right to substitute equivalent aircraft if necessary. Your itinerary may include flights on smaller aircraft operated by local approved airline carriers. Seating on these aircraft will be economy or economy with limited business seats, based upon the configuration of the aircraft.

International Flights: The operation of these flights is subject to the foreign governments involved granting landing rights for the flight. If the air carrier cannot obtain these rights for any particular flight leg of the Tour, that flight leg will be canceled and alternative arrangements may be made, at the discretion of TCS.

Itinerary Changes: The itinerary and staff are subject to modification and change by TCS. Every reasonable effort will be made to operate the Tour as planned; however, should unforeseen world events and conditions require our itinerary to be altered, TCS reserves the right to do so for the safety and best interest of the group.

Single/Shared Accommodations and Suite Upgrades: A limited number of single rooms are available at extra cost on a first-come, first-served basis. TCS will make reasonable efforts to assist persons requesting a roommate. If a roommate is not confirmed, the single rate will be charged. Suite rooms are available in some destinations; more information about them, including their additional costs, will be sent to you in the months before departure.

Airfare: We are happy to assist you in reserving commercial flights between your home city and Melbourne, Australia and Sydney, Australia to your home city, in the class of service that you prefer. Please ask for details.

Visa Documents/Entry Permits: To participate in the Tour, visas and/or entry permits may be required for some countries. Acquiring visas and/or entry permits is the responsibility of the Participant. Failure to obtain visas and/or entry permits does not negate the terms and conditions. Any extra costs for rerouting Participants without visas and/or entry permits will be the responsibility of the Participant. We will provide information on the necessary visas and/or entry permits in the Tour documents.

Health Requirements: This is an active program, which requires you to make a realistic assessment of your health. The Uncharted Series was created as a direct

response to guests who requested small

group journeys that delve deeper into less

trodden destinations. Thoughtfully designed

by Stevie Wooten, vice president of Private

Travel for TCS, these trips are via small,

private modes of travel, and are traditionally

limited to approximately 14 guests.

Designed by TCS World Travel founder

T.C. Swartz, the Founder’s Series are single-

country programs to remote and legendary

destinations around the world. With over four

decades of travel experience, T.C. brings his

own unique perspective to every itinerary he

develops and leads.

Sometimes the best journeys are the ones you create. Our Private Travel department

builds all-inclusive, custom itineraries to anywhere in the world. Depart whenever your

schedule allows. Go where you want with whomever you want. Travel by any means of

transportation.

Anything is truly possible when you work with our Private Travel consultants. We created

an entire trip based around a gallery show of contemporary Southeast Asian artwork.

The guest mailed our consultants the exhibit catalog and asked us to build a 26-day

guided gallery and museum tour. The trip spanned Korea, China, Singapore, Vietnam and

Thailand, and included personal meetings with the artists. On the journey, he met many

artists and explored more than 31 private galleries, contemporary art museums and home

studios. Most importantly, his travel dream was completely fulfilled.

Fulfill your travel dreams. Call us today or email [email protected] to

see what we can do for you.
