KANGAROO

Number of Kangaroo in 2011: 34,303,677 (by Australian Department of Environment http://www.environment.gov.au/node/16759 )

Description:

- Red Kangaroos: hop as fast as 70 km/h &comfortably travel at 20km/h. �- Kangaroos are marsupials (it means they keep babies in the pouch.) Babies in the

pouch for about 9 months, before getting out for the first time.

- Female kangaroos deliver babies after 1 month pregnancy.

- Amazingly, kangaroo can even produce 2 different varieties of milk: one for the newborn baby, and another for the older sibling who still lives in the pouch.

KOALA- very lazy animal

(sleep about 20 hours/day)

- Nowadays koalas are under special care. Koalas are rare and not very often seen in the wild

- Australian Government’s assessment: the numbers of koalas in Australia ~ 407,500 but argued by Australia Koala Foundation (AKF) which believe that the real number is less than 100,000 (between 45,000 and 85,000 Koalas)

CROCODILES: TROPICAL QUEENSLAND.

The freshwater crocodileRarely growing longer than 2 meters.

The diet: insects, fish, frogs, turtles, waterbirds and snakes are the most common diet items. Small mammals that come to drink at rivers.

One item not on freshwater crocodile diet list is people.
