EIGHTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Ecclesiastes 1:2; 2:21-23, Colossians 3:1-5, 9-11

Luke 12:13-21 Brief Reflection: Following foolishly after the things of this world leads us in the wrong direc-tion. Temptation is all around us. It is tempting to get ahead at the expense of others, and we are tempted to put material wealth ahead of spiritual wealth. Following Christian virtues requires grace, and takes practice and hard work. Let us pray for that grace, For what profit comes to man from all the toil and anxiety of heart if we are not rich in what matters to God?

A Word from Fr. James… Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Summer is passing by quickly. We are now in August and in the not too distant future, school will resume once again, in about four weeks.

Last year, our school year started off with a new part-time principal. Mrs. Gigi Wolf was our part time principal that we shared with St. Vincent de Paul School in Salem. She was only with us for the year. This year she will be the part time principal solely of St. Vincent de Paul School and will also be teaching.

Our Sacred Heart school will start the school year with a new but familiar part-time principal, Mrs. Mariana Hill. Mrs. Hill has been with our school for about twelve years teaching most recently, the fourth, fifth and sixth grade. This past July 1st, she became the new part-time principal of Sacred Heart School and will be teaching grades six, seven, and eight.

We also have a part-time co-teacher that will work with Mrs. Hill with the middle school students and we also have a new pre-school instructor. Mrs. Hill will be introducing them in the bulletin soon, so stay tuned.

As I mentioned last week, I will be on vacation this upcoming week. I may not be going anywhere, it might be a staycation, but I will have some time off while my priest friend from Sai-pan, Fr. Balajadia, is here visiting as he gets ready to head off to start Canon Law Studies at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC.

Summer blessings, Fr. James

Prayer Intentions Let us pray for those who are sick in our commu-nity. Remember these parishioners and friends of the Parish in your prayers: Clifford VanLoo (car accident and health)

Teddy Davidson (hospice) Claudette Elmore (moving to Keizer ) May you find consolation in knowing that you are thought of and prayed for in this time of need.

Joey and Anthony Eisenbacher and Emma Nelson would like to thank the parishioners of Sacred Heart and St. Louis for their overwhelming generosity in supporting their bake sale last weekend. They raised $1600 toward their trip to the National Catholic Youth Conference! They are deeply grateful and humbled by this incredible support. Thank you!

Many thanks to Mrs. Gigi Wolf for her assistance and getting Sacred Heart School through the 1st year transition to a part time principle.

DECIMOCTAVO DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO Eclesiastés 1:2; 2:21-23, Colosenses 3:1-5, 9-11

No habra clases julio y agosto!
