Specific dates for this project aren’t set yet but we anticipate work to begin in late August or early September. Work will take 1 to 2 weeks. During that time the pool, tennis courts and basketball courts WILL remain open. Once we have a detailed schedule we will send out a community notice. Recently we had an issue with our community pool which required closing the pool for several days. We apologize for this inconvenience and can assure you the problem has been resolved. We have secured a new pool company to maintain our pool. We will also be conducting another electronic survey in the next few months to help us establish a budget for next year and to help guide us in several other areas of concern. We will appreciate your feedback once this survey is sent out. The new pool/park hours (6am- 10pm) seem to be a success. I have personally noticed people on the courts or in the pool on a nightly basis. The new LED pool lights are really nice and make for a wonderful night swim. We haven’t had any complaints on noise so thank you for being considerate to the residents who live along the park perimeter! Normal hours will return on August 26th. Enjoy the rest of your summer. EASEMENTS This is a repeat of an article in the May newsletter. The landscape people have reported that grass and brush clippings as well as furniture is being dumped into the easements making maintenance difficult. Please refrain from dumping grass cuttings, dead plants, tree limbs, old furniture, etc. in any easement with Stonegate Hill. Easements are shown on your recorded plat. Within these easements, if you have one, no structure, planting or other material shall be placed or permitted that interferes with installation and maintenance of utilities, or in the case of drainage easements, which may change the direction of flow of water. Specifically, article 6.5 of the Stonegate Hill Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions states that no owner or resident may place, store or permit to accumulate trash, garbage, leaves, limbs or other debris within or upon the drainage easements, either on a temporary or permanent basis. Please follow the covenants to keep our easements from getting cluttered with debris and a hot spot for critters and mosquitoes. Thank you!

A DECLARATION OF

FUN Susan Handlin

On July 4th residents of Stonegate Hill gathered to celebrate our Nation’s birthday in Stonegate Hill Style! Leading the parade was this year’s new addition to the activities, an eight passenger train carrying three Uncle Sams! The firefighters and truck from Firehouse 45 kept things moving as our own Storm Swim Team and a procession of bikes, strollers and decked-out patriots and cars followed. At the end of the parade Pastor Mark Molina led the Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem. Our honorable Judges, Doug Handlin, and Bill and Joanne Snook named Fiona and Moira Whelan winners in the Cutest Category, Madeline Murphy most Creative. Evan SantAngelo, dressed as Uncle Sam on stilts, stood head and shoulders above the crowd winning most Patriotic. Residents were warmly greeted by Lidia SantAngelo and Blanca Mendoza as they dished out fried chicken, salads, sides and desserts. Cheers were heard as winners collected prizes from Courtney Hargett, Andrea SantAngelo, Rose, Theresa and John Enyeart, who ran the games. Everyone was all smiles at the face painting booth, balloon artist booth and train depot. Those with a sweet tooth visited the colorful cotton candy stand. Among a fantastic array of decorations, lively music and happy voices, Stonegate Hill

displayed its love for our nation and for our unique community.

GREAT JOB TEAM! MANY THANKS

Susan Handlin I would like to give a huge thank you to the great team of volunteers who worked so hard at our Independence Day Celebration; Doug Handlin, Courtney Hargett, Barry Hargett, John Enyeart and his daughters Rose and Theresa, Mable Hall, Lidia and Andrea SantAngelo, Pastor Mark Molina, Charlie Whelan, Blanca Mendoza, Bill and Joanne Snook, and Rance Olison. Thank you also to Tammy Bernal for the donation of crafts, Virginia Guevara and the Storm Swim team for their donation of drinks and to all those who pitched in to help clean up. THANK YOU!

SCHOOL STARTS AUGUST 26

The first day of school for Northside Independent School District is August 26th. The Board has received complaints that residents are not stopping at stop signs throughout the neighborhood. Many intersections are school bus stops and children will be gathering at various hours of the morning to ride the busses and returning in the afternoon. Please obey all stop signs in the neighborhood and caution your visitors to do the same. It would truly be a tragedy if one of our own children or any resident was injured because someone failed to stop properly. Your cooperation will be appreciated by all residents.

NEIGHBORHOOD YARD SALE

This year’s fall yard sale will be held on Saturday, October 5th. This is assuming someone volunteers to head up this initiative. If you are interested in helping set this up, please contact one of the Board members.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT October 8th

This year’s National Night Out is October 8th. Join with your neighbors to help prevent crime in our community. FREE root beer floats and scoops of ice cream will be served at the pool from 6:30 until 8:30. If you would like to assist with the event, please contact the Neighborhood Watch Coordinator Stephanie Porter at 362-1400.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

MEETINGS

Stonegate Hill Board of Directors meetings are held each month at Westover Hills Assembly of God Church Annex, 9340 Westover Hills Blvd, 6-8pm. The dates are posted on the Stonegate Hill website. Guidelines for these meetings can be found on the Stonegate Hill website under HOA Documents. No food or drink is allowed in the meeting room.

PAYMENT OF

HOMEOWNER DUES Third Quarter Assessments (July -September 2013) of $165 were due July 1st and were past due on July 31st. Interest is now being charged in the amount of 18% on any unpaid assessments. Fourth Quarter assessment notices will be sent out in December and due on January 1st, 2014. Payment can be made either by check or online at www.mutualofomahabank.com. If additional communication is required to the homeowner, it will be sent by certified mail and a $15 fee will be charged to the homeowner account. Additionally, homeowner pool card keys will be deactivated until delinquent accounts are paid in full. If homeowners are two quarters past due in paying their assessments, a lien can be put on the property. As a result of the 82d Texas Legislature of 2011 mandate, the lien must be filed by an attorney. The cost of the attorney and filing will be added to the homeowners account and can range from $100 to $200. The collection of homeowner dues is the responsibility of the management company. A monthly payment plan can be requested by contacting MPoT at 523-1320. This will prevent the delinquent account from being turned over to an attorney for collection or additional charges being added to the homeowner's account.

NEWSLETTER

INFORMATION Residents are encouraged to provide input for the Stonegate Sentinel. Please provide articles for the November 2013 newsletter to Deb Hullet at 682-6585 or [email protected] by October 25, 2013. Newsletter articles should be of interest to a majority of residents. Ads for services by residents under the age of 18 (lawn mowing, babysitting, etc.) may be submitted at no cost. Service ads by residents over 18 will be charged a fee of $5, $15, or $30 per issue, depending on the size and whether it is personal or commercial business. Money must be received before the ad will be included in the newsletter.

Since this is a small newsletter, the content will be limited to what fits, and may be edited if necessary. The Board of Directors must approve all articles. Articles not used may be reserved for a later newsletter. Stonegate Sentinel is compiled by neighbors and published quarterly. Your contributions are welcome. The newsletter is paid for by ads and with funds from homeowners’ fees.
