Janna Plemons (working at Orphanage
Emmanuel in Guaimaca, Honduras, August 8-
January 3): I have found my assignments: my job
is with the small boys’ house (ages 6-10). I mostly
do their laundry and get them ready for school and
meal times. While the small boys are in school, I
spend my time with the special needs. I work with
them on their coordination, learning skills, and therapy. Pray for me
when I am doing one on one time with them, that I will gain their trust
and form a relationship with them. I am also trying to seek the Lord
more here so pray that I will draw closer to God. My jobs aren’t easy,
but I have learned that when I seek God in the day my job becomes
something I love, so I am thankful for that.
Bob Spear (Ft. Mountain & Southern Haven
Assisted Living Ministries): We had 19 to attend
the Ft. Mountain Ministry on Sunday.
M&H (serving in East Asia): August has come
so quickly. This summer has
been a blur for us with many
transitions. Last week we said goodbye to two girls
who spent the summer partnering with us in
university work. We also received our two
semester workers as well. These two girls M and S
will be with us until January. They will be doing
university work along with some English
teaching. We are excited for how the Father will use them and are
thankful for the community that they bring. Many of our close friends
have come back stateside: our supervisor, another family working with
a UPG, and two j-girls. Transition and goodbyes are always tough.
Praises: We are thankful for being able to b@ptize 2 believers a
couple of weeks ago. One of those who was b@ptized two weeks ago
went back to his home town in the southern part of our country and
plans to go door to door sharing with his village. Also, our two new
girls have been able to meet and share with a lot of students in a short
amount of time. Ask for the Father to open hearts. Requests: With our
supervisor gone, our workload has increased considerably, which
means we have more administrative tasks to take care of. Ask that the
main work of ev@ngelism and d!sc!pleship would remain the focus of
our work here. This month is a little slow for us as students are in their
home towns for summer break. Ask for opportunities for us to meet
with students who stay in our city for summer break. We plan to begin
another seeker study in September, so please begin to ask the Father to
draw students and prepare hearts. Lift up our two new semester
workers to transition well into life here.
BJabc (serving in Northern Africa): Mkt.4 Group - J and two of
our female national partners will be beginning a
group tomorrow (Thurs. 13th) with some ladies that we met while the
volunteer team was here. Ask that the
Father would use that time to bring His
kingdom to the "7th Neighborhood”. Ask
that it would be a time of encouragement
and that through this lesson those who attend
will be faithful to tell the lost, teach the
saved, and group them together as church.
Mkt. Office - We are in the thick of hunting
an office in the Mkt. that can be used for both our work responsibilities
and for “main thing” work. Ask that the Father directs us to the place
that will be most strategic. Ask that as we meet in the Mkt.
tomorrow (Thurs. 13th) that He gives us wisdom and vision for where
and how it will be used for the building of His kingdom. Family - We
are retreating for a few days this weekend (14th-16th) as a family
before the kids begin their school year (Tues. 18th). Ask that it would
be a refreshing time as a family and that our kids will get lots of
attention and love from us. Also, as the kids begin the new school year,
ask that they would grow physically, intellectually, and relationally
with the Father. Storying Teams - We will begin trainings in the
countryside with the storying teams next week (Tues. 18th & Wed.
19th). During this time, B and Jo (one of our national friends) will be
leading the trainings. Ask for safe traveling, that those who attend will
be open to telling the lost and teaching the saved, and that we would
see the truth of the Son spread throughout these unreached PG’s.
National Partners - We have been asking, according to L*ke 10:2,
that the Father surround us with nationals that have a heart for the
harvest and want to work to see the kingdom established here on earth
as it is in heaven. Ask for wisdom as we have made relationships with
a number of believers in the city lately. Ask that He guides us in those
relationships and that we shepherd those relationships well. Ask that
He will reveal how we can all work together as laborers of the harvest.
Mark & Gynnette Yoho (Fourth Watch Ministry): In the
context of 1 Timothy 2:1-4, the Apostle Paul
makes the point that we should pray for all
mankind because God "will have all men to
be saved and come unto the knowledge of the
truth." It is exciting to see the energy build for
the upcoming Ignite event. When I see people
become intentional about stepping out of their
comfort zone to win souls I get excited
enough to swing over the flames of Hell on a
rotten corn stalk. Man I'm excited!! But let us not forget the importance
of prayer in soul winning. Without prayer lost sinners won't come to
the Ignite conference. Without prayer the music will have no affect on
the hearts of lost people. Without prayer Brother Jon will not have the
power to preach the Gospel. Without prayer lost sinners will not be
able to hear the Gospel. Without prayer no one will respond to the
invitation. Without prayer Ignite will just be another meeting. Please
make a commitment to step up your prayer life in these days. Our
prayer needs are as follows. This Sunday Morning I will be preaching
at Holly Creek Baptist in Chatsworth for Brother Danny Cochran.
On August 25th we are scheduled to be preaching in the Floyd County
Prison. On August 30th I will be preaching revival at Riverview
Baptist in Calhoun for Brother Jamey Hunt. On September 10-11 I will
be preaching revival at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in
Fairmount GA. On September 19 I will be leading a Missions Day for
our Baptist Association. That night I will be flying out to London
England for a 2 week outreach at the Rugby World Cup Championship.
On a personal note please pray for my baby sister Jennifer Yoho who is
dealing with her 4th round of breast cancer, her diagnosis does not look
good. She has made a profession of faith but shows no evidence of
Salvation. She will not be at Ignite but I pray she is saved during
Ignite. Thanks for all you do and the prayers you pray for us, we
cannot express enough gratitude.
Michelle Parham (answered the call to
vocational ministry): Thank you for praying
for me as I started school this week! Pray that I
will not become overwhelmed and that I will
manage my time wisely! Also BCM starts
back next Tuesday. Please pray that God will

college. Continue to pray with us for the Lord to connect us with the
right students. Pray that the sophomore guys that I'm spending the
majority of my time investing in to really be burdened for the lost
students around them. Thank you so much for continuing to pray!
Troy Poe: (answered the call to
vocational ministry): Please continue to pray
for me as I go to school and work. Please pray I
will continue to seek after the Lord and find
more pleasure in Him. Thank you for all the
prayers and encouragements!
Emily Payne: I am excited about this
semester at DSC, so please pray that the
excitement will
continue throughout the term! I love you
all! Thank you so much for your prayers!
Julie Parham: Please continue to pray
for me to have patience as I make some
decisions for next semester. I am going
back to school but not sure what school I
should attend. Also continue to pray for our
youth and my co-workers. Continue to pray
for my family as my grandmother is
coming to our house to stay with us. Thank you church!
Brian Jones (student at Southeastern Baptist Theological
Seminary): Continue to pray that we keep our
focus on the Lord in our jobs, and that we
understand that it is a ministry just like anything
else. I may be the only influence for God in some of
these kids lives, and Ashley may be the only stable
influence in her students lives. We are grateful for
how faithful you all are to pray for us week after
week. We miss you and love you all!
Josh Bowen (seminary student at Boyce
School/Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary): Please
continue to pray that I look to the Lord
to sustain me through balancing school
and work. It is such a privilege to be
able to attend school and the Lord has
open so many doors and taken care of
us. Hannah did indeed get the job
watching the younger boy (his age is between Rhett and Bennett). We
are thankful as this will help our finances greatly! We are excited to see
what the Lord has in store and we are taking it one day at a time. Thank
you for your faithfulness to pray and partner with us in that way!
work and that people will show up! I have faith that He is going to do
great things! I am praying for GLBC as Ignite is Sunday! I have a
feeling that God has something big planned! I love you all!
David, Kellie Crowe & Family (church planters w/ Greene
Community Church in Waynesburg): Andrew is in the hospital for some tests
so pray for him. His white cell count was
super, super low. He also has a fever,
headache, abdomen pain and such. We
have been here over night and they are
going to keep him tonight as well. There
is much blood work being done to try to
determine things. Hopefully by the
morning they will have an answer. GCC -- a lot of needed ministry for
some divorced women in our church family. We have begun some
building renovations and it looks good. We moved an outdoor sign to
the side of the building and we are planning on painting the outside of
the building next month along with some needed repairs in some
children's classrooms. Thanks for praying!
Bryan & Brittany Kelly (Boyce School/
Southern Baptist Theological Seminary): I am LOVING student teaching. Thank you all
for the prayers. God has blessed me with an
amazing teacher to learn from. Please remember
Bryan in your prayers. He works so hard and
then goes to class on no sleep. Pray that he will
get adjusted to his new schedule. Kristen Bowen (currently attending Midwestern with plans to
do the Journeyman program with the IMB): I started classes today and I have a busy schedule and
a lot of responsibilities. Please pray for me to live
on Mission with God in the midst of it all. It is
really easy for me to get tunnel vision and just focus
on completing the tasks of the day and not taking
the opportunities God provides to worship Him and
obey Him. I have a praise that is sort of strange, I
am an RA and I am learning that those late night "my toilet is
overflowing" calls are great opportunities to connect with residents and
live out the gospel before them, when I lovingly do all I can for them.
Pray for me to make the most of the many opportunities God wants to
use me to bring glory to Himself! Thomas, Paige, Elizabeth & Jacob Queen (our
missionaries in South Africa): From Paige: I am studying hard in
my Zulu class. My teacher has
helped me translate much of the
vocabulary I like to do on house
visits. I sent her my testimony and
she has agreed to translate it for me.
By the end of the class I should be
able to read anything written in Zulu
so I plan to read it on house visits
until I get it memorized. Requests:
Pray for me to learn the language well. This brain doesn't memorize as
well as it used to but I am working hard. Pray for Thomas' traveling
mercies. Jacob has his last final tomorrow in Physics so pray that goes
well. We really appreciate all the church does to help us proclaim the
gospel here. Elizabeth loves Lee! That is such
an answer to prayer for me.
Chad Keeter (Navigators Ministry,
Staff): We had our first worship night of the
semester last night. There was a great turn out,
and it was encouraging to reconnect with
students and to see new students interested in
deepening their walk with Jesus while in
For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring
salvation to the ends of the earth.”
