Fax (315) 255-4709 July 13, 2011 Media Release Re: Michigan Truck Driver Arrested for Attempted Kidnapping 2 nd  On July 13 th , 2011 at approximately 4:18am, Auburn Police took a walk-in attempted kidnapping complaint at Auburn Police Headquarters. Upon interview of the 25 year old female victim (Auburn resident) she advised officers that she was walking westbound on Arterial West near N. Fulton Street when a tractor trailer heading in the same direction pulled over to the side of the road. The victim indicated that the driver exited the cab of the tractor and approached her telling her get into his truck with him. The female stated the man spoke with a thick accent. When the female refused to enter his truck with him she states the man then grabbed her left hand and in his left hand she could see the man was holding a knife. The victim reported she then kicked the man in his groin area and ran away coming directly to the Police Department to report the incident. An immediate Police radio broadcast was made to other area police officers describing the tractor trailer as well as the suspect. At approximately 4:55am an Auburn Police Officer located a tractor trailer on N. Division St. near Allen Street matching the truck description given by the female. Further investigation revealed the operator of the truck is a naturalized US Citizen originally from Romania who spoke with a thick accent. The driver was identified as Hristu Sacu and he stated he was in Auburn, NY making a delivery in the N. Division Street area. Further investigation into the incident resulted in Sacu being arrested on numerous charges which included one count of attempted kidnapping in the 2 nd degree. See page 2 for defendant and charge information. Sacu will be arraigned in Auburn City Court at approximately 3:00 pm.
