This year’s Canton Friendship Festival is fast-approaching, and by

Saturday, Sept. 14th, it would be WONDERFUL to share in the

parade’s theme “Power of Friendship” by wearing our NEW Wesley

T-Shirts! If you’d like a chance to order one, the order form is still

available in the Main Office and T-Shirts are $25. The last day to

order is Sunday, August 18 to ensure we all have our Wesley Gear in

are in the church office and can be picked up Mon-Thurs. 9-4 and

Wesley Church Outreach Committee wants to remind our church family

that we are here to serve in any way we can. We are also excited to

hear of any potential service or outreach projects in Canton or any

Prayer Requests

UMC Men will continue our summer break until August. We are

planning a fish fry. Please contact Josh DeWees or Jim Gage if you are

planning to be there. Time/Date/Place to be announced.

WUMC Men’s Group

The Permanent Endowment Committee wishes to advise the

scholarship availability for awarding in 2019.

1. Wm. Largent Memorial Scholarship - A $200 award is

available. Multiple awards may be made depending on the

number of applicants.

2. Lindquist - This award is available for the pursuit of a Christian

endeavor or purpose. Depending on the circumstances, it may be

available for licensing or certification required for employment in a

service field. It also may be available to help reduce an

indebtedness that still exists for past Christian studies. Inquiries

are welcomed by the Committee. If a qualified applicant is

available, the committee will determine the award amount based

on fund restrictions.

3. Wilbur & Alice McLouth Scholarship Fund - No award is

available in 2019.

4. Memorial Fund - This fund was made available for those who are

not recent high school graduates, that are seeking education to

enable them to improve their employment opportunities, job

advancement or a possible vocational change.

Applications for these awards are available in the church office and

need to be returned no later than August 1, 2019 to the church office.

Wednesdays? Remember no experience necessary! This could be a great

opportunity for your small group to volunteer and help serve with. The program is

in need of a couple individuals to monitor the hall area outside Wesley Hall during

the dinner hour. If you are willing and able to volunteer for The Big Easy starting in

the fall please sign up in the church office or call Ren`ee @ 647-1015 ext.210.

Welcome Ministry Team Opportunity

The Communion table flowers are in memory of Lorraine Farr’s Birthday.

The baby rose on the organ is in celebration of the birth of Callahan “Cal” Michael

Eaker! Cal was born to Chadd & Katie Eaker on July 15, 2019. Congratulations to

proud Grandparents Mike & Peggy Eaker and Christy & Eric Rude.

African Children’s Choir -

Sunday, September 15 @ 7:00 pm

We are in need of Host families that are willing to share their home and

love with these amazing individuals from Uganda. They will need

lodging on Sunday night, Monday night and Tuesday night. They will

be leaving Canton on Wednesday morning from the church. You will

be asked to provide them with breakfast and a light snack before bed

each day. Transportation to and from the church if possible or we can

arrange to send the mini-bus out to make its rounds for pick up. We

will be eating lunch and dinner at WUMC and invite our host families to

WUMC GERMANY & AUSTRIA

(Check out the change of the ITINERARY)

WUMC along with EO Travels is headed to Oberammergau Germany for the

Passion Play and to Austria for the Music Tour. July 7th- July 15

th 2020. This trip

was originally set to tour the walk of Martin Luther but has changed to tour Austria

by request. We are planning a quick and brief meeting on Wednesday, July 31st

@ 6:00pm in the Library. Please see Ren`ee with questions.

Think of the difference between walking into a room unnoticed or being welcomed warmly. Every week at Wesley, we all have the opportunity to welcome someone in the love of Christ. And for those who feel a deeper calling to serve, you can go a step further with our Welcome Ministry Team. This team provides a friendly atmosphere for our Wesley family and guests as well as assisting in worship. You can choose to serve once a month at either of the 8:30 or 10:45 worship services or be available to substitute as needed. Would you be interested in joining us as we love God with all our hearts and love the world as Jesus does? Simply write Welcome Ministry by your name in the red book or contact the church office.
