Have a Picnic!

Think about: • Where will you have your picnic?• When will you have it?• What time will it start?• What will you eat?• What will drink? • What else do you need to bring?• What will you sit on?• What will you eat from?• Will there be a theme for your

picnic? What will it be?• Who will you invite?

Delyth is taking a picnic to eat at the circus. She is going with three of her friends.

• Delyth would like to take some apples. How many apples should Delyth take so that everyone can have one?

• Delyth also brings eight sweets. How many can everyone have so that they all have the same number?

Obstacle Course

What you need: • Different shaped equipment,

such as hoops, benches, blocks, footballs, cubes, etc.

• An open space.

Teacher Instructions

• Set up the obstacles so that they are in two lines.

• Ask pupils to count how many different obstacles there are.

• Ask pupils to name the shapes of the obstacles. What other shapes do they know?

• Spilt the class into two teams.• Teams should compete against

each other to complete the obstacle course in the quickest time.

• Ask pupils how to measure the times teams take. What units do we use for time?

• Individual times for pupils completing the course could be recorded. Pupils could put these into a simple chart to review.
