ART CLASSES AT THE CENTREMAGIC MUD (kids 6-12 years old)Mondays: 3:30 to 5:00pm (6 sessions)October 17 to November 21, 2016 Dive into the world of clay, and discover the magic! Can you believe that a soft lump of clay can become a frog, a cup, or a castle? With your imagination, it can become anything! Come explore the magic of clay and see it transform into a multitude of wonderful things. Suitable for beginners and children with previous clay experience.Cost: $115

THEATRE PEEPS (kid 6-12 years old)Mondays: 4:00 to 5:30pmOctober 17 to December 5 2016 (7 sessions)Playing with costumes, hats, and props, role playing, and improv games…this class provides the perfect way for young actors to dive right into the joy of acting!

WATERCOLOUR BY NIGHT (adult)Mondays: 6:30 to 8:30pm October 17 to November 21, 2016 (6 Sessions)Evening watercolour classes find their way back to the Centre! This watercolour course is a relaxed, casual, interactive learning atmosphere for intermediate and advanced students. Learn about updated pigment and colour choice to simplify thinking and colour mixing, and simplified basics in state-of-the-art colour mixing & theory. Access your creative side and step further into the watercolour world!

ANIME IN ACTION (kids 8-12 years old)Thursday: 4:30 to 5:30pm October 20 to November 24, 2016 (6 Sessions)Take your first steps into learning this increasingly popular style of illustration! The basics of anime are introduced, then progress into full-colour illustrations. Learn how to use simple shapes and guidelines to create an expressive character. Explore inspiring options for hair, eye and costume design as well as how to render various facial expressions. Bring your characters to life with bold inking, vibrant markers and expert tips from our instructor.

CABOCHON 2 - WRAPPING PENDANTS (adult)Saturday: 1:00pm to 4:00pm October 22, 2016Take your cabochons and learn how to wrap them using square or half-round wire. Beginners and wire pros alike will be able to come away with new skills! Pick and choose your focus! Glass and wire come together in a new set of workshops. COLD PROCESSED SOAP (adults )Monday: 5:30pm to 8:30pm October 24, 2016Learn the process of making cold-processed soap, the ingredients and tools used before joining Patti around the soap pot to make a batch of soap. Take home at least two bars of colourful handmade soap, and a guide to help you with your soap adventures at home!

This Fringe favorite follows the stories of millions of sperm embarking upon a high stakes suicide mission to battle a dangerous and mysterious enemy. Meanwhile in the ovaries, the eggs are forced to say goodbye to one of their own as the time for their monthly sacrifice to the uterus looms on the horizon. Sperm Wars takes place in a brutal, futuristic, utterly absurd universe. ROMANCE The Chilliwack Metropolitan Orchestra will be opening it’s 2016/17 concert season with a wonderful Romantic Opera Sampler. Soprano Melanie Krueger will be joining the orchestra to perform wonderful favourites from the opera repertoire and the orchestra will be adding famous Intermezzos, Preludes and Overtures. Melanie has performed with the Vancouver Opera and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra as well as in Europe. Her soaring high notes will soar over the audience.

BALLET ROCKSFrom Vivaldi to the Eagles, Ballet Rocks is an innovative, vibrant, athletic, entertaining, quirky, and beautiful program to the music of The Eagles, and an eclectic selection of pop rock music. Then following the intermission Ballet Victoria delights audiences with a new narrative work based on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and the first nation mythology of the raven through these seasons. Each season opens with a poem written by Canadian poet Linda Rogers read by Chilliwack’s very own Steven Point, past Lieutenant Governor of BC.

COLOURING OUTSIDE THE LINES Artist Vincent Mikuska

Local Abstract Artist Vincent Mikuska has used hints and suggestions of landscape elements in his work to try and create an essence or experience of the landscape. There is a willingness to create associations between different elements of a visual experience. A world where line has poetic rhythm, colour a musical tone. Space can be hinted or defined. “ I try and find new patterns without concentrating on recreating the details of what I see” The effect is to be a cumulative effect of looking, not a single stare but what happens as you visually interact with your surroundings over a given time. Trying to get to the essence without the details.
