Dear CSI Families, The High Holidays are a time of reflection. We look back at the past year and contemplate our choices for the next year. We recommit to our Jewish lives.

There is no better way to do this than to attend one of our programs or take one of our classes. CSI offers many programs and classes for families, seniors and teenagers.

Would you like to be involved with the Organic Farm? Do you want to join the Women’s Torah Study Group? Are you wondering who our speakers will be this year? Perhaps you’re interested in supporting The Rabbi’s Circle at CSI?

There is so much to choose from. We look forward to seeing you at these wonderful programs!

Rabbi Steven C. Kane

New Adult Learning Center Planned at CSI

The need for a place for adults to study together in comfort has long been a need at CSI. The rooms we use are often too small, to large or acoustically problematic. We are pleased to announce that this year we will be making a new area for classes, discussions and media presentations. This area, to be constructed in the space that currently con-tains the stage and one of the custodial store rooms, will contain comfortable seating for 40-50 people, its own HVAC system and state of the art technology for films and other media presentations. It will be handicap accessible and most importantly, will provide a wonderful place for our community to gather. We look forward to seeing this vision come to fruition in the coming year.

Caring Community

Our CSI Caring Community is a committee whose sole purpose is to help our members who need some TLC. After you let the shul office know what is going on in your life, they can set the wheels in motion. You will hear from Judy Boehr if you are sick or are celebrating something that deserves a Mazal Tov. Merrie Daitch makes our bereavement calls. We offer Shabbat dinners or bereavement bags for our mourners. If you need food because of illness or catastrophe, Susan Hodara will give you a call. If you have a baby, Resa Mestel will send you a special gift. Susan Grotenstein delivers holiday gifts to our members who are home/facility bound. (Please let us know about congregants whose situation has changed and now fall into this category.) Many of our over 30 members help with Shabbat deliveries, visit our members who are sick and cook when called upon. We thank them all! Join us at our next meeting on Tuesday, September 4, at 6:45. If you would like to be added to our email list, please contact our chair, Merrie Daitch, at [email protected]

GREETING COMMITTEE

Welcome guests and members of our Congregation on Bar/Bat Mitzvah Shabbat mornings. Consider becoming part of our “scene.” You choose the Shabbat that is convenient. You arrive around 9:10am to hand out programs and kippot; tell the guests where the bathrooms are and ,in Winter, direct them to the coat closet. We also remind everyone to turn off their cell phones. We greet for about 1 1/2 hours. It is fun to re-meet old friends from the Congregation and smooth the way for the guests; taking the edge off the parents of the B’nai Mitzvah.! Contact Ellen Weiser ([email protected]) if this Committee strikes your fancy.

THE SOCIAL COMMITTEE...ANOTHER FUN YEAR!

The CSI Social Committee is looking forward to sharing some new and exciting events with you during the coming year.
