CONFERENCE PURPOSE
The Small Farmers Conference 2009 will continue in its ob-
jective to be a part of the educational outreach efforts to the
citizens of Mississippi. This year the conference convenes in
Mississippis historic capitol city, Jackson. The Regency Ho-
tel and Conference Center will house our guests and partici-
pants as we launch our 18h year session. The exciting
Theme: Agriculture: Sustaining A Legacy For Life fully
exemplifies the direction the conference takes this
year. There are several exciting learning sites and continuing
education tracks that will be both informational and fun for
the participants. This statewide conference will focus on as-
sisting participants in creatively starting new enterprises on
their farms and gaining a wealth of knowledge through new
marketing strategies and business opportunities. We encour-
age farmers, cooperatives, and women in business to attend
this conference. Educational professionals, non-profit devel-
opment specialists, federal and state agriculture and busi-
ness development staff and others that provide rural busi-
ness development assistance are also asked to attend.
Goals and Objectives1. To redirect the cooperatives message as a means to achieve
financial success and educate participants on how to createwealth thru asset building
2. To provide networking, marketing opportunities and introducenew technology
3. To provide demonstrations through educational learning sitesand to make changes based upon research based data
4. To expose participants to funding opportunities available for a
variety of farm practices by introducing new and innovative farming enterprise
5. To encourage participants to participate in programs available toassist their farm enterprises
6. To promote certification programs that will enhance farm business and personal growth
