    Fellowships and Teaching and Research Assistantships

    The university offers a number of different fellowships and assistantships to full-time graduate students. Students must apply fthe teaching and research assistantships; awards are made upon the recommendation of the applicants discipline. Awards that acompetitive outside a specific degree program are initiated by student self-nomination and are determined by the administratioStipends vary according to the amount of work required and the experience of the student. No assistantship or combination assistantships for a given student may exceed 20 hours of duties per week. Tuition scholarship awards of up to nine credit houremission of tuition per semester will be based on academic achievement.

    Students awarded financial assistance must be enrolled in at least nine but not more than 12 credit hours of graduate woduring a regular semester (fall and spring). Special permission is required to deviate from these hours except for two sequentiregular semesters in a masters program or four sequential regular semesters in a doctoral program when the student was enrolled at least nine hours per semester for the prior two sequential regular semesters. Students must also maintain a 3.0 grade poiaverage, be in good academic standing, and be on-track with their degree programs. Students on probation are not eligible fconsideration.

    Teaching/Research/Administrative Office Assistantships.Open to students pursuing masters or doctoral degrees. Stipend:least $12,766 or two semesters and remission of tuition for nine credit hours per semester for a baccalaureate graduate pursuingmasters degree program within the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business Administration and the College Engineering and Natural Sciences; at least $13,236 for two semesters and remission of tuition for nine credit hours per semester fa masters degree graduate pursuing a doctoral degree program within the College of Arts and Sciences and the College Engineering and Natural Sciences. Workload: Teaching two courses or equivalent in research activities or administrative offiactivities for approximately 20 hours per week.

    Ben Henneke Research Fellowships.This award honors the universitys first Trustees Professor of Humanities and PresideEmeritus, Ben Graf Henneke. The applicant must be a citizen of the United States and either be seeking full-time enrollment or b

    enrolled full-time in a masters degree program within the Arts and Humanities (anthropology, art, education, English language anliterature, history, or psychology). For 2013-2014, the award carried a 9-month stipend of $13,000 and nine credit hours of tuitiofor each of the fall and spring semesters, as well as six credits of summer tuition when appropriate. Application deadline is Janua15; applications are available from the Graduate School Office.

    Foster Brooks Parriott Graduate Scholarships.This scholarship, established in memory of Foster Brooks Parriott by tParriott family, is awarded annually on the basis of scholastic achievement and need. The scholarship includes up to 24 credit houof tuition for the year. Application deadline is January 15; applications are available from the Graduate School Office.

    Wilfred Woobank Graduate Assistantships.The applicant must be a citizen of the United States and either be seeking futime enrollment or be enrolled full-time in a graduate degree program within the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences. Tawards may be designated for one year or may be awarded for up to three years of study for the masters or four years for th

    doctoral degree. For 2013-2014, the stipends ranged from $1,667 per month for either 9 or 12 months and includes 18 or 19 credhours of tuition scholarship. There is a 10-hour per week service component to the Wilfred Woobank Assistantship, intended

    foster interaction between the scholar and the department. Application deadline is January 15; applications are available from thGraduate School Office.

    John S. Zink Fellowship for Students with Physical Disabilities. This endowed fellowship is available to aid TU studenwith physical disabilities, and is given to students in any graduate program. Fellowship amounts are variable and awarded on th

    basis of need. To qualify, you must be admitted to The University of Tulsa, be in good academic standing, qualify for servicprovided by The Center for Student Academic Support, and be registered to receive those services. Application deadline is Janua15; application forms are available from the Graduate School Office.
