Part A : Task 3: Individual Reflect ion
Reflection
Based on this course and the task I have done, there are many things and new
knowledge that I gained and learnt in order to improve and enhance myself to be a goo
teacher towards the new era of education. Firstly, through this course and the task given, I
have learnt about many theories that can be apply during the teaching and learning process
or in my own daily life activities. The theories are Democratic Teaching by Rudolf Dreikurf,
Theories of Instructional Management by Jacob Kounin, Theories of Congruent
Communication by HaimGinott, Building the Foundation by Skinner, William Glasser, Grodon
and Theories of Assertive Tactics by Lee and Marlene Canter. By learningabout all these
theories, I have learnt on how to manage the classroom effectively in order to promote a
conducive classroom environment that deal for the teaching and learning process to occur.
Besides, I also realized that the roles of the teachers nowadays become more
challenging. It is not talking about the teachers roles in the classroom but also to produce
the young generations of the country to become more responsibility and to mould the
individuals with good values. Meanwhile, finishing the task in this course teach me,how
difficult for me to complete the task together with other commitments and I learnt that
teaching also is not an easy task. There are a lots of distractions and challenges that waiting
for me in the future as a new era teacher.
In addition, through this course, I learnt many difference approaches and strategies
in managing the classroom and how teacher can handle the misbehavior pupils in the
classroom. For example, based on the Theory of Instructional Management by Jacob
Kounin, I have learnt that many difference strategies such as withitness, ripple effect,group
focus, satiation, overlapping and effective transitions. These approaches and strategies can
be applied during my own teaching and learning activities. Furthermore, the theory itself
highlights more on teachers roles and responsibilities.
Through this course, I also realized that I have learnt so many types of
misbehaviours that can or ever occur in my previous lesson. As a teacher, I need to be well-
prepared by knowing my pupils backgrounds and also their interest. It can be done by giving
them appropriate solutions to correct their misbehaviours. Moreover, I also learnt the skill on
how to control the situations by looking into the main causes and effects of their
misbehaviours. I have learnt that in promoting a good classroom management for teaching
and learning to take place, as a teacher, I need to consider the physical and socioemotional
aspects in the classroom. Teacher should take pupils individual differences as each pupil

are differs from one another. Teacher need to fulfill all their needs in the classroom. Thus,the
teaching and learning session can take place smoothly and meaningful.
And for that I would like to suggest some ideas to improve this course. The first that
glance through my mind is to conduct peer-teaching session among the teacher in theschool just to share some ideas from other teacher on how they apply the theories into their
teaching and learning session. Hence, the teacher can understand how each of the
strategies and the approaches works in their own lesson.
Besides, teacher also can conduct a trip to other nearby school to observe the school
environment and how the teachers handle and manage their classroom with the difference
strategies used. This will helps the teacher to see beyond their circle about the new ideas of
teaching the new generation of her pupils and how the theories are applied in real life
situation. Moreover, it helps the teacher to be more prepared in any situation occur.
As a conclusion, there are many new knowledge and experiences that I have learnt
and gained through this course. It is very beneficial for me as the teacher and I will practices
the theories and knowledge learnt during my teaching in the future. I believe that by creating
a cohesive, respectful and positive learning environment for the pupils, teacher will be able
to better prepare her or his pupils for life after primary, secondary schooling and after
graduated from university.
