TASK

What Is A Preliminary Task?

• For the preliminary task you have to produce a short 30 second clip in our groups. The purpose of the clip is to display our understanding of three media techniques, which are the following:

• 1) The 180 degree rule, is a basic guideline that states

that two characters in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other.

• 2) Shot/ reverse shot is when one character is shown

looking at another character, and the other character is shown looking back at the first character.

• 3) Match on action is when an action that begins in

one shot is continued or completed into the next scene.

• I would rate this preliminary task video a

Level: 3 Mark: 42This is mostly due to:- The wide range of shot distances used.- The creative techniques used to reveal

both characters at one time.- Proficient attention to mise-en-scene

(setting and furniture)- Good use of effects-blurry image.

What Level Would I Rate This Video?

• I would rate this preliminary task video a Level: 1–Minimal Mark: 20• This is mostly due to:- The extremely poor picture quality.- Limited variety of shot distances.- Poor camera control.- Titles aren't appropriate for the

video/scene. - Poor attention to framing.

What I Have Learnt...

• I have learnt:- It is important to include a wide range of

camera angles and shot distances.- Make sure that the picture quality of the video

is clear and understandable.- Have controlled use of the camera at

appropriate times and only move around for effect.

- It is important to consider all aspects of editing. - Pay close attention to the framing of the scene.
