Assignment 9: Initial Magazine Cover Research

1st Magazines Cover -

A barcode is provided with a web address so that it can promote the magazine to achieve more audience through their official website and get more information.

The central image is a one main star(actress) – Photograph was taken in a Mid-Long shot (direct address)

Exclamation marks used to make the text stand out.

Huge header – Making it dark on a lighter background will stand out more make it bolder.

2nd Magazine Cover - Red

The logo- is mostly on the top of the page. And this also creates the brand image, this makes it instantly recognisable to the audience.

Body language shows direct address to the audience

Barcode - with the issue number.

Big bold tag lines to advertise the article.

3rd Magazine Cover – Vogue

Main cover line

A variety of fonts, looks different and stylish because the colour fit together and so do their positions of the text.

Advertising another Vogue issue.

Some magazines do not include a slogan because they do not need advertising as they already have a large audience which is mostly targeted at the upper class.

Main logo – most at the top and the largest font.

Advertising another trademark in terms of fashion.

4th Magazine Cover – Soul Spirit Catchy words such as ‘Exclusive’. These words may look different to the whole sentence EG: Capital letters, italics, bold etc.

Other text are matched with the colour of the main heading.

The main image that takes up the whole cover page.

Buzz word!‘Win’ has a larger and different font to catch attention from audience.

It is also placed in a light colour with a darker background which also makes it stand out

5th Magazine Cover – Prima

The word ‘FREE’ in capitals to stand out and catch attention. Pictures to increase

appetite and show evidence not just text.

Direct address towards the audience shown by the pose and camera angle.

Again, There is a variety of different fonts
