STAGE TWO
Research of Channel Adverts
Channel 4
Channel 4
How are their Adverts laid out?
• One whole image covers the whole poster
• The title is at the top left corner in a white box
• The time and commentary on the bottom left corner also in a white box
• Then have the four symbol in the middle right
What is the Content of the Text?
• Text is very minimal, though, what they say is shot and snappy.
• Text is only the title, with the occasional rhetorical question
• The last thing written is always the date of the documentary
• The time is not always shown as they’re always shown at either 8pm or 9pm – which would be known by channel 4 documentary fans.
Style of Fonts?
They’re font is either white or black depending on the white or black box background colour.
They front is always a smooth formal font, to suit any topic as the type of font is dedicated to everything on channel 4 –
it’s their trademark font so it is recognisable.
Style of Graphics
In any channel 4 advert commonly they have the white screen while the
clip shown before forms into the channel 4 logo accompanied by blue date and time with the black colour
title. Also the recognisable trade mark font is always used.
Photo Manipulation
Channel 4 posters usually add a grey tinge to create a certain atmosphere which
will make the audience just a little more excited, as it almost amplifies its wait
for the programme
In this certain advert they blurred the people walking past while
making it seem as though the child is sinking to emphasise being lost and forgotten. This sort of photo
manipulation was done by channel 4 to get sympathy for more viewers
Organisation of Information
The channel 4 logo, is always on every poster on the middle right floating in white – or sometimes black
The title is always above the commentary and date, though sometimes has its own box at the top left corner
The date and commentary is always in a white or black box on the bottom left corner
