QATAR TO BECOME A SELF-SUFFICIENT NATION BY 2020

Single Window System Management also release the ‘Own your Factory in Qatar in 72 Hours’ project, government initiative aimed at fast-tracking the building of more manufacturing companies and factories in Qatar. This attracted 9,349 applications from local and international companies representing major industrial sectors this way local supplies will be available and can create more jobs and easy access to raw materials in lesser price.

Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi predicts that by 2020 Qatar will be 100% self-sufficient. “The market was not affected at all by the blockade and it has created an internal market which is why farmers and livestock breeder are very enthusiastic to produce more, improve the quality and try to gain new markets”.

Local farmers and livestock owners are getting full support from the government and encourage them to build farms and produce locally available crops and farm animals to augment the demands of the market and the nation,

Tell us how you started your career and what is your role in Al Sraiya Holding Group?

I started my career in 1978 upon my graduation from the American University of Beirut (AUB) where I worked as (Accountant / Sr accountant / Account specialist) for 9 years with Saudi Arabian Bechtel Equipment Company; joined Al-Turki Group of companies in KSA as Group Financial Controller (1987 to 1995) .While with Al Turki Group, I obtained my Masters Degree in Finance from KFUPM / School of Industrial Management; Joined Bin Laden Group as Group Finance Director ( 1996 to 2005); Joined Azadea Kuwait Manager ( 2006 to 2009) for 3 years and relocated to Hilton Resort in Kuwait / Ras Al Salmiya as Group Finance Director; Joined Al Sraiya Holding Group as Group CFO in 2011 to-date.

I joined Al Sraiya Holding Group in 2011, as Group CFO

I handled Financial business activities such as, budgeting and strategic planning, financial reporting, cost accounting and cost management, treasury functions and cash flow management and risk management. For group business expansion I handled long term and short term investment decisions whereas I conduct feasibility studies and acquisitions, communication with BOD, creditors, owners, investors, credit rating agencies and financial institutions, even legal aspects such as compliance (tax, legal & regulatory) and above all the performance evaluations of the group.

With the recent National Crisis, as Group CFO how do you manage the stability of the group in the market?

Al Sraiya Holding Group is a diversified Group with an international portfolio and a solid foundation; The owners have taken preemptive steps prior to the crisis

to cushion against similar situations. Management of the group finances presents challenges which are addressed with an adaptive approach to the market. The reputation of the group in the international arena is solid giving the group a clear edge in managing the day to day challenges, be it economical or geopolitical.

Where do you see Al Sraiya Holding and specifically the Hospitality Group in the next five years?

As stated earlier, the group sits on solid structure and has diversified into the hospitality field in Qatar & abroad. The group is also investing in the F & B sector and has currently a number of local & international financial investments. The group will continue the development of the hospitality sector diversifying its portfolio into different countries where not yet present to double its asset portfolio in five years time.

Do you have any future plan in acquiring more investments inside or outside Qatar?

The group has numerous investments in various fields such as Education, Hospitality, Real Estate, F & B, Trading, Services, Manufacturing to name a few and I don’t think we will stop to develop and grow the business.

What makes a strong leader in amidst of national crisis?

Albert Einstein once quoted “A strong leader will always strive to be of value rather than to be a success”, and as Financial Leader of the group, I honor this. I possess Intelligence, Ownership and Pride. I maintain my work ethics, lead the group by team work and consistency, above all, I put passion, transparency, responsiveness & adaptability to be efficient in performing my duties and responsibilities for the group.

Lokma Restoran Îsletmelerî and Al Sraiya Holding group signed a franchise agreement on August 9 2017 to open branches in Qatar and Kuwait, Covering F&B service activities within the framework of terms and conditions and granting rights of the brand and the products.

Macro will act as the managing agent for facilities services, supporting the Ministry in creating and maintaining an environment that is safe and secure through the introduction of best-in-class facilities management and service delivery practices and modern technology for the effective and efficient management of school assets, services and information.

The main objective of the contract is to prepare the Ministry’s in-house facilities management team to self-deliver the management functions at end of the contract.

The contract also includes a consultancy period followed by the management of facilities management services and minor project management for all independent schools. The consultancy period includes more than 39 deliverables forming a set of facilities management documentation, processes, procedures and management plans.
