The Diversity Search Advisor (DSA) Program is part of the Penn Action Plan for Faculty Diversity and Excellence
Creation of the Lead Diversity Search Advisor (Lead DSA) role after early program evaluation
Lead DSAs will share oversight with specific Department DSAs in consulting and advising faculty search committees in a distributed model
Lead DSAs will meet with Department DSAs and Chairs and Division Chiefs to be available as resources for faculty searches

Faculty Affairs & Professional Development (FAPD) and Office of Diversity & Inclusion (OID) collaborate on DSA Program for faculty searches
Goal of faculty search process is to “generate the broadest and strongest possible candidate pool” and to assure that every applicant is given equal effort and consideration

Diversity Search Advisor must review and approve faculty search documentation before the recommendation of a faculty appointment is submitted to the PSOM COAP and Provost’s Staff Conference (PSC)

Diversity Search Advisor (DSA) & Search Committee Chair throughout the faculty search process
DSA is a resource for the search process Faculty Coordinator submits faculty position
description in Interfolio Faculty Search to DSA for approval; may consult with DSA on position text
Faculty Coordinator may consult with DSA to ensure diversity of Search Committee

Committee and to provide Unconscious Bias presentation Faculty Coordinator coordinates/attends initial Search
Committee meeting with DSA Faculty Coordinator may distribute approved faculty position
to all faculty in department or division for outreach Faculty Coordinator works with DSA to ensure proactive
outreach of search committee to diverse applicant pool, including women and minorities
Faculty Coordinator collaborates with DSA to provide opportunity for minority/women candidates to meet with minority/women faculty at Penn
