Learn to Swim
• Essential for our region
• Reduce the numbers unable to swim by the end of Key Stage 2 to 5%
• Ensure teachers have the necessary skills to be able to deliver
78% now achieving KS2 standards
3115 children can now Swim 25m following
involvement in the Top Up Programme

Lifelong Participation
• All can take part in swimming: there are no age barriers
• We must cater for everyone
• Increase participation
Swim Active Projects aimed at increasing participation
implemented in Devon, Somerset and Gloucestershire.

Work ongoing with all County Sports Partnerships to secure
Swimming Development Officers and development
programme in each County

every County50 accredited Swim 21 clubs. 46 improvement planning
with 27 in regular contact with RDO. All clubs
supported through workshops within their County
Clubs offered discounts on numerous workshops
across the region

As a teacher / coach
Skills Active funding secured to run discounted courses
to volunteers. From 2008 this will be 66% of coursecost.
Workforce audit completed to identify and address
teaching and coaching needs across the region
Regional coaches conference held in association with
BSCTA – 46 coaches attended
