3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

• In some way Monophobia can be distributed independently, but mainstream institutes can also distribute it.

• Both I Am Legend and 28 Days Later are very well distributed, as they are mainstream films. Avatar cost 500 million dollars to make, and then a further 500 dollars to distribute. This shows how important distribution can be. Seeing as they had so much money to spend, they could do this. On the other hand independent movies can’t do this and try to distribute their film without spending any money.

• Monophobia will come under the category of a category A British film. Category A means that it is a film made with British money, personnel and resources.

in Lost that inspired us and also I Am Legend in whole as a movie.

• As in both 'Lost’ and ‘I Am Legend' we are introduced to a character whom seems to be alone. However, it seems normal for them to be alone in both. Comparing this to Monophobia is very similar, because we have introduced our character in this exact way.

• This can bring enigma into our film, making the audience ask questions which is done in real media products. e.g. We establish enigma in our film when the gun is purr into the bag with no clues to the audience, however enigma carries on throughout the whole of our opening sequence.

• Our opening titles are very simple and bold which is very typical for films in a similar genre as our film. Use

• Comparing to other films, we didn't break the 30 degree rule, nor the 180 degree rule. We also used match on action in our opening sequence. All of this camera work uses forms and conventions of real media products.

Develop.• An idea of ours was to have a morning routine which seems to

come across as a regular routine to the audience, this always compares to real media products.

• Mise-en-scene gives an idea to the audience of where we are, what is happening and what situation we are in. For example, in our film we have our character in combat trousers and boots, refer to I am Legend.

Challenge.• Not much of our opening sequence challenges real media products. However, in some ways it does. This is

how:

• Another way Monophobia challenges the forms and conventions of of real media products is that we are using a young teenager as the leading role, as a lonely character who lives with no on around him. Usually young teenagers are scared of being alone. On the the other hand, our character is very brave and goes searching for people around the world. We are challenging the conventions with mise-en-scene because we used a modern home, it doesn’t look like a post-apocalyptic film.

• Not many teenage boys live in a lovely, large modern home. Our character lives alone in a modern home and makes him seem even more isolated from anything in the world. It is also unusual for a teenage boy to have own a gun, by our character having his gun, enigma is made.

• Although the music is very similar in the opening sequence of Lost, the music we used for our montage is very different to the situation our character is in. This makes everything seem a lot calmer than things actually are

• When filming the preliminary task we wanted to get it done very quickly so that we could then focus on our main task and main part of the coursework.

• This meant we didn’t arrange any outfits, hair and make up or costume for characters and we rushed it meaning the mise-en-scene wasn’t as important.

• However for our main task we thought deeply into specific outfits for the character, we also considered the location and setting, props to show how the character was living alone and had been for sometime. For example, we used lots of old newspapers piled up to show how he was reading papers over and over again to keep him company, as he is alone.

Camera.

• The camera we used for our preliminary task was a photo camera, which was able to be used to video.

• This meant the quality wasn’t very good. From this we learnt that for our main task we needed a better camera. For our main task we used a DSLR camera which had 1080p video recording.

• We also explored various shot sizes more in our final task. For example, we have a lot more close ups in our final task. Close ups are very good at establishing a character and helps the audience identify with that character.

• In our preliminary task there was lots of unwanted ambient sound, we are improving our main task by learning to be specific with our sound effects and sound track. We exaggerated some sound effects, for example, the sounds of brushing teeth, the alarm clock and the porridge coming out of the box.

• We did this by editing the EQ settings and adding reverb in Soundtrack Pro. Where as, in the preliminary task we didn’t use any of this, although we had dialogue it wasn’t so clear and our sound was more considered in our main task.

• With the main task, Sound Track Pro was used for sound effects and the placing of our soundtrack. We also used a song for our montage, which started diegetic and then turned into being non-diegetic.

Open Source Software and transferrable skills.

• We found it extremely easy to download open source software of the internet. For example, we downloaded Celtx off the internet for free.

• We transferred our skills from more amateur softwares to advanced software's that were new to us. We adapted very well to the different softwares that we hadn’t yet used before. For example, we went from using iMovie to using Final Cut Pro for our main task. It didn’t take long to transfer our skills and to get used to the new software.
