Claude Monet
His Life As A Painter
Claude Monet was born on the 14th
of November 1840, in Paris, France and
died on the 5th of December 1926, Giverny. He was a French painter who was
the initiator, leader and unswerving advocate of the Impressionist style. In his
older works Monet advanced his method of producing and repeated studies of
the same decorative design in series, in this way by changing canvases,
(which is a piece of such cloth prepared for use as the surface for an oil
painting), with the light. These series were frequently exhibited in groups. For example; his images of haystacks in 1891 and the Rouen Cathedral 1894. At
his home in Giverny, Monet created the water lily pond that provided as
inspiration for his last series of paintings. All of his painting gave interest in the
second half of the 20th century.So people were interested in his paintings.
The color and light in the paintings he produced. W hen his works traveled
though out the world in museum exhibitions it attracted crowds as it was the
best achievement in the WORLD and was being held popular commercials by
featuring imagery from his art.
Childhood
When Claude, the eldest son of Adolphe Monet, a grocer was five years old,
the family moved to the coast of Normandy, near Le Havre, where his father
took over the management of his family's thriving ship chandelling and
grocery business.
First Impressionist paintingsWhen he was a teenager he studied drawing. In 1859, Monet had committed
himself to a career as an artist and began to spend as much ti me in Paris as
possible. In the 1860s he was associated with the preimpre ssionist painter
Eduard Monet and ambitious towards achieving something as the French
painters developed to form the impressionist school Camille Pissarro, Pierre
Auguste Renoir, and Alfred Sisley.

Later Impressionism
By the mid 1880s Monet generally watched as the leader of the impressionist
school. He had achieved significant recognition and financial security. In spite
of the boldness of his color and the extreme simplicity of his compositions. Hewas recognized as a master of showing great attention to de tail and
observation. In other words, an artist who sacrificed neither the true quality of
being verycomplicated of nature of his own feelings.
His Later Years
In 1890 he was able to purchase a property in the village of Giverny not that
far away from Paris. Claude Monet decided to construct, to make a huge
garden. In his garden there was and is still today a Lily pond with a Japanese
bridge and overhung Willows and bamboo trees. At the beginning of 1906 all
the paintings of the pond and the water lilies kept him busy for the rest of his
life. Throughout these years he also worked on his other celebrated "series"
of paintings, groups of works representing the same subject haystacks,
poplars, Rouen Cathedral, the river Seine seen in varying light, at different
times of the day or seasons of the year. In spite of failing eyesight. Monet
continued to paint almost up to the time of his death, on December 5, 1926, at
Giverny.

1860s, characterized by a concern with depicting the visual impression of the
moment, esp. in terms of the shifting effect of light and color.
