Press Release March 11, 2011  Army “Barangay Library” Handed Over Books: Delights Teachers, Pupils and Parents in Montevista, ComVal Camp Kalaw, Poblacion, Monkayo, Compostela Valley Province – Army’s “Barangay Library” through the 25 th Infantry Battalion handed over a total of 97 essential supplemental books, reading materials and other school references to the pupi ls, parents and teachers of Tapi a Elementary School at Barangay Tapi a Montevista, Compostela Valley Province on March 9, 2011, afternoon. As part of the unit’s mission to win the peace, Ltc. Col. Gilbert F Saret, Commander of 25 th IB, said that Insurgen cy can never be defea ted through military means alone. “Convergence of efforts among all stakeholders, giving emphasis on developmental approac h as the focal point, is the key to solve this conflict. In doing so, the military shall always be ready to act as a major proponent and a catalyst in winning the peace”, he added. Lt. Be nj ie A Jimenez, 25 th IB CMO off icer, hig hli ght ed the import ance of Educat ion as the ke y to success for the yout h, as they st rugg le and face the chall enge s of tomorrow. He likewis e encoura ged the pupil s to always take good care of the books, as he advised them to make use of these reading materials as their immediate tools for learning, towards a brighter future. The activity was part of the unit’s effort, dubbed as “Bara ngay Library Program,” in support to the intent of the Department of Education to achieve a ZERO non-reader pupi l in ever y pr imar y lev el , and to at tain a qual it y educat ion and excellence for their clientele. Those books mostly came from various benevolent Non-Government Organi zations and ins tit utio ns, suc h as; the Asi a Book Fou ndatio n (ABF), the Operation Blessing Foundation Inc. (OBFI) and the Books for the Barrios Inc. The said activity was attended by Vilma B. Sangian, Tapia Elementary School Principal, Orlando B. Tuyor, District Supervisor, Ruben Camosa, PTA president, parents and faculty staffs of the said school who expressed their gratitude and lauded the pioneering efforts of the 25 th IB to help alleviate the learning of their pupils. The 25 th IB, through the Research Team for Peace and Development, is at present, helping the Local Government of the Municipalities of Monkayo, Compostela and Montevista in the conduct of Rapid Need Assessment for projects that will alleviat e the living condition of the loc al populace and ultimately bring development in the area. -END-

Camp Kalaw, Poblacion, Monkayo, Compostela Valley Province – Army’s“Barangay Library” through the 25th Infantry Battalion handed over a total of 97essential supplemental books, reading materials and other school references to thepupils, parents and teachers of Tapia Elementary School at Barangay TapiaMontevista, Compostela Valley Province on March 9, 2011, afternoon.

As part of the unit’s mission to win the peace, Ltc. Col. Gilbert F Saret,Commander of 25th IB, said that Insurgency can never be defeated through militarymeans alone.

He likewise encouraged the pupils to always take goodcare of the books, as he advised them to make use of these reading materials astheir immediate tools for learning, towards a brighter future.
