Statement of Need: The increasing prevalence of cardiac disease in pregnancy has led to an increase in maternal and fetal-neonatal morbidity risk. The risk for the patient also extends past the postpartum period and into a lifelong risk. Careful cardiovascular clinical assessment remains the foundation of risk stratification of pregnant women, fetuses and neonates with heart disease. There is a need for optimal screening, treatment and care throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period and this conference will address this process. Didactic lectures and workshops will address more structured and explicitly designed guidelines to effectively discuss cardiac disease in the mother, fetus and newborn, and their implication to pregnancy, fetal and neonatal health.

Program Objectives: All Northwell Health CE activities are intended to improve patient care, safety and outcomes. At the conclusion of this conference participants should be able to:– Recognize the impact of congenital or acute cardiac disease in

pregnant women.– Review genetic disposition and imaging and how it relates to

fetal cardiology.– Employ management guidelines for neonates post cardiac

procedures.– Discuss the appropriate care related to cardiac disease after an

adverse pregnancy outcome.– Integrate appropriate navigation services and interdisciplinary

relationships for pregnant and postpartum women with heart disease.

– Devise a solid process for the long term care of babies with congenital heart disease.

Target Audience: Obstetrician-Gynecologists, Maternal-FetalMedicine Specialists, Neonatologists, Pediatricians, PhysicianAssistants, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Certified Nurse Midwives, Obstetrical, Neonatal and Pediatric Fellows and Residents

Joint Accreditation Statement: In support of improving patient care, Northwell Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
