Are you ready for the best weekend of your life? We’ve got a tremendous weekend planned for you! The next four days we’ll celebrate survivorship and bask in the glory of your accomplishments. If you’ve Gone LoCo with us before, you know we are all about celebrating life. It’s about the love we share, our hope for the future, and faith that if we continue to put one foot in front of the other we will reach all reach the finish line. Here is a play-by-play on what you can expect this weekend. DAILY THEMES As is tradition, Sunday is Survivor Day. On our last day, we honor those that we’ve lost, and celebrate those who have kicked cancer’s ass. Put on your best pink, or create a clever group costume with your posse. We encourage everyone to recognize the cancer warriors in your life by having their picture on your shirt, writing their name on your hat, or making an “honor belt.” At LoCo, there’s a lot going on. But we’re always asking ourselves: “What can we do to make this even more fabulous?” Costumes. Obviously. Friday is Island Day at Haig Point! Gilligan’s Island, Fantasy Island (we’ve just gotta have Mr Roark and Tattoo!), grass skirts and coconut bras. Or maybe you dress up as a palm tree, lighthouse, hammock, or tasty umbrella drink? Saturday is Flamingo Day at Callawassie! We unveil our Flocks of Love and (hopefully) #freefancy. Who will be our best bird? Or our most festive flock? How many Flamingos will we see that day!?

Are you ready for the best weekend of your life?

We’ve got a tremendous weekend planned for you! The next four days we’ll celebrate survivorship and bask in the glory of your accomplishments. If you’ve Gone LoCo with us before, you know we are all about celebrating life. It’s about the love we share, our hope for the future, and faith that if we continue to put one foot in front of the other we will reach all reach the finish line. Here is a play-by-play on what you can expect this weekend.

DAILY THEMES

As is tradition, Sunday is Survivor Day. On our last day, we honor those that we’ve lost, and celebrate those who have kicked cancer’s ass. Put on your best pink, or create a clever group costume with your posse. We encourage everyone to recognize the cancer warriors in your life by having their picture on your shirt, writing their name on your hat, or making an “honor belt.”

At LoCo, there’s a lot going on. But we’re always asking ourselves: “What can we do to make this even more fabulous?”

Costumes.

PACKET PICKUP

COURSE AMENITIES

RACE BIBSYou must be registered to participate in the event and wear your designated race bib. If you can’t make it to Thursday’s Packet Pickup Party at Poseidon, you can pick up your packet and race bib before each race. Day of packet pickup can be found:

Friday at Harbour Town (take our buses from Coligny Parking to Harbour Town and we’ll be there with your packets)

Saturday at the Callawassie Clubhouse

Sunday at the Holiday Inn Beach House

All team packets will be boxed together, so if you’ve registered as part of a team, designate one or two of your team members to pick up the box(es) for your group. This will speed things up at the party, so we can boogie!

Your LoCo Motion swag bag (packet) will include:

Bib(s)

LoCo 2016 T-Shirt

Bracelet for Poseidon Dinner (if purchased)

Bracelet for Guest Ferry Passes to Haig Point (if purchased)

Bracelet for Callawassie shuttle bus (if purchased)

Cheese!Dozens of professional photographers will be capturing our festivities all weekend long. We are talking thousands of top notch, high resolution Kodak moments—from selfie stations to droids to super fun photo shoots!

At the end of the event, you can buy access into all the professional shots by signing up for our Picture Pack—only $20!

Get your CHEESE button now so we know to keep the camera glued to you all weekend. Sign up at dothelocomotion.org/photobooth or stop by our Flamingo Table!

Three day participants have one bib for all three days. If you’re only participating in a day or two of the race, you will get a designated race bib for the days you’re racing. You must be wearing the appropriate bib to participate.

Pit StopsWe have plenty of pit stop stations along the route each day with water, sports drink, and snacks. Feel free to bring your own water bottle and refill at these stations.

Don’t worry — we have restrooms along the courses, too!

Bag DropYour race bibs include a tear-off that you can attach to your complimentary swag bag. Stuff your bag with keys, a clean shirt and your favorite koozy. Leave it with us at the start line each day and the LoCo fairies will make sure it’ll be waiting for you at the finish line.

One Bird = One MammogramYou’ve probably heard about Fancy. That she was kidnapped, and that we’re building a flock to raise money and greet her upon her return.

When you see those birds lined-up on the river, we want you to know that this goes way beyond the flamingo silliness. It’s a representation of the impact yall have made.

Each bird signifies one life-saving mammogram, given to a woman who needs it.

There’s still time to add a few birds more. To fund a few more mammograms, and save a few more lives.

Oh and to contribute to a Guinness World Record. And wear silly beads. And decorate your bird with your new (and old) friends at LoCo.

See our volunteers in flamingo boppers to adopt a flamingo — they’ll be passing out pink cigars with every donation.

We laugh until tears run down our legs and we have been known to snort wine out our noses at the endless LoCo shenanigans that take place over the weekend.

But we never forget why we are gathered. We all have our story, our motivation, our inspiration.

Our 2016 Honor Boards are a tribute to your THIS IS WHY WE WALK stories and we want to know, “what’s your why?”

DonateSilliness aside, we know you’ll find this weekend as inspiring as we do. Every year, we hear people leaving LoCo Motion saying, “I wish I could do more.”

By signing up to join us, you’re already doing something heroic. But if you have a few spare bucks, and want to make even more of a difference — feel free to leave us a donation or make one online: https://www.grouprev.com/loco2016.

Every penny goes straight to our nonprofit partners, and every dollar gets us one step closer to beating breast cancer.

The outdoor party is free and you can stay as long as you want. Our friends at Poseidon are hosting us once again, and their downstairs patio NautiBar will be open if you’d like to have a drink or order off their incredible menu.

For those of you that purchased tickets for the Lowcountry BBQ buffet at Poseidon’s gorgeous covered roof deck, your dinner bracelet will be in your packet (purple and red bracelets). Tickets to this private party are SOLD OUT, but there might be availability that night.

DAY ONEFriday, September 23rd Haig Point on Daufuskie IslandWhen: Shuttle buses run from 8am-8:35am

Where to Go: Park or walk to the Coligny Beach Parking Lot (across the street from the Holiday Inn/Beach House at the Coligny Circle on Pope Avenue).

Our three-day adventure starts with a 10-minute ferry ride from Harbour Town to Haig Point, where you will be welcomed with drinks, food, games, photo scavenger hunts, and live entertainment on the lawn at the Strachan Mansion.

So if you arrive on our early boats, we’ll keep you plenty entertained until our 10am start time!

If you are not able to get your packet on Thursday night, you may pick it up at Harbour Town.

Our after-party starts at noon and boogies down until 3-ish.

Bus & Ferry Logistics

Everyone must park at the Coligny Beach Parking Lot on Pope Avenue (parking is free). Please do NOT park in Sea Pines or Harbour Town!

Please carpool or walk to the parking lot.

Our volunteers will direct yall into the parking area where everyone will board buses on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The morning buses will run from 8am-8:35am. And the ferries to Haig Point will run between 8:45 and 9:20am. Harbour Town is our only debarkation to Daufuskie this year!

Please have your race bib on, as that’s your ticket to ride our buses and ferries. Our volunteers will be at the docks to direct passengers on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Ferries (and buses) are for paid registrants. If you have guests that purchased advanced tickets they must be wearing their wristband that is included in your race packet (the one with suns on it).

Our return ferries will run continuously between 1:30 and 3:30pm, and our shuttle buses from Harbour Town back to Coligny will transport everyone between 1:45 and 4pm.
