A call for Faith Promises call for Faith

What is Faith?Rom.4:18-21 “Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform.”

Get on the Boat!

To get on the boat would require:

Against hope believing in hope.

Considering not that it was impossible.

Being fully persuaded that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.

Gen.2:5-6 “And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the earth.”

A Failure to Get on the Boat

Getting on the Boat would require:

More than a belief in their heartIt would require belief + action.They had to act.They had to physically Get on the Boat.

True Faith leads people to act.

Faith that saves is Faith that obeys

Noah’s Faith :

Belief or Action?

Compelled him to action.Heb.11:7 “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark…”

Noah’s faith caused him to obey God.

Gen.6:22 “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”

How do we Get on the Boat?

Having Faith in ChristRom.3:25 “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood…”

Acts 13:38-39 “Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this Man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:And by Him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.”

Having Faith in Christ requires:Against hope believing in hope.Considering not that it is impossible.Being fully persuaded that what God has promised He is able also to perform.

Faith in Christ:Belief or Action?

Believing in our heartRom.10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Believing in our heart leads to obeying the gospel (action)Rom.1:5 “By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name;”

Rom.1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth…”

1Cor.15:1-4 “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures;”
