Ardlethan Central School Cross Country Results

On Friday 24th March we held our annual Cross Country Carnival at the Ardlethan Football Ground/Cat Valley. Our students displayed fantastic participation, endurance and sportsmanship in warm conditions.

Thank you to:

The ACS staff and students who helped with the preparation of the course, recording of results and assisting with the checkpoints.

The K/1 students who completed two laps of the football oval, and the primary and secondary stu-dents who competed in the 2km, 3km and 4km events.

A very big thank you to:

Our wonderful parents who assisted with the photography, in the canteen and at the finishing line. Your enthusiasm, encouragement and support was greatly appreciated by all staff and students!

Congratulations to all the students of Yithan and Warri, in particular the students of Warri who were the overall winners of the carnival by 19 points, 159 points to 130 points. Special congratulations to the fol-lowing students who were awarded Cross Country Age Champions and Runners Up. Caroline Stewart

RAP Lawn Bowls Team into NSW CHS

Knockout Regional Final

Pictured are Loclan Nau ACS, Thomas Madden APCS and Jayden Woodward ACS following their victory over Junee

High School on Tuesday 28 March at the Ardlethan Bowling Club.

Junee jumped out to an 11 to 3 lead after 5 ends and it looked like “how far?” for the RAP team.

The RAP team steadied and posted two scores of 6 in three ends and once they hit the lead forged ahead to win

27 to 12. The “mercy rule” was invoked with two ends to play.

After the first 5 ends Jayden lead superbly and was usually holding shot. Thomas, as the second, drew shots

seemingly at will and Loclan skipped the team beautifully, ably assisted in deciding tactics by Jayden.

There was a good crowd of local bowlers and players’ relatives as supportive spectators.

Thanks to Thomas’ mother for transporting him to Ardlethan.

A huge thank you to the Ardlethan Bowling Club for letting us use the greens and to Smiley for preparing the

greens.

Our next game will be early next term and our opponent is yet to be decided but could be a school from Albury to Balranald.

Thanks James Gordon

RAP Tennis Teams Perform Extremely Well in CHS Knockout

On Thursday 27th March our RAP Boys and Girls Tennis Teams travelled to Temora for the first three rounds of the CHS Tennis Knockout. Our boys’ team was represented by Norm Haeusler (BCS), David Fletcher (LCS), Jake Bourchier (BCS) and Riley Walker (APCS); and our girls team was represented by Amy Crighton (ACS), Paige Kenny (BCS), Lily Walker (APCS), and Chelsea Gordon (BCS).

Boys results

Our boys team advanced to the second round after having a bye in round one. Their second-round opponents were Murrumburrah High School. Our doubles combinations of Norm/David and Jake/Riley started this competition very well, with both teams easily winning their games, 6-0. The boy’s domination continued in their singles games with all boys Norm, David, Jake and Riley again winning comfortably, 6-0. These impressive results advanced our team into the third and final round.

Our third-round opponents were Wade High School. The Wade boys started well, winning both dou-bles games. Our boys fought hard in their singles games with Jake and Riley successful, winning 6-1 and 6-4 in their respective games. As a result of these wins, both teams were required to play their reverse doubles. We needed to win both sets 6-0 and our opponents needed to win 2 games to en-sure victory. Although our boys were unsuccessful in their reverse doubles games, they are to be commended on their level of tennis and reaching the third round of this competition for the second consecutive year.

Girls results Our girls were drawn to play against Griffith High School in their round one match. Our doubles combinations of Amy/Paige and Lily/Chelsea started very well, defeating their opponents 6-1 and 6-3 in both opening games. The girls then played their singles matches with Amy, Paige and Lily successful, respectively winning 7-5, 6-0 and 6-0 against their opponents. These wins advanced our team into round two of this competition.

Our round two opponents were Young High School. Although our girls won many rallies in their doubles games, their opponents narrowly won on the scoreboard, 7-5 and 7-6. Paige and Chelsea recorded impressive wins in their singles games, with Paige winning 6-1 and Chelsea winning 6-4. These wins ensured our team was to play their reverse doubles games. Amy and Paige were victorious in their doubles game, winning, 6-2. Our opponents won the other doubles game and went onto claim victory by two sets. Our girls team is to be congratulated on their level of tennis and improved results from 2016.

Our 2017 RAP Tennis Teams are to be congratulated on their skill, sportsmanship and outstanding behaviour. Thank you to Cathy Bourchier, Di Crighton, Carla Fletcher, Tina Haeusler, Julie Kenny and Wendy Walker for your fabulous support and assisting with the transport. Caroline Stewart

ANZAC DAY SONGS

God Save the Queen

God save our gracious Queen, Long live our noble Queen, God save our Queen. Send her victorious, Happy and glorious, Long to reign over us; God save the Queen. !

The Recessional

God of our fathers, known of old, Lord of our far flung battle line, Beneath whose awful hands we hold, Dominion over palm and pine, Lord God of hosts, be with us yet, Lest we forget, lest we forget. !

The tumult and the shouting dies, The Captains and the Kings depart, Still stands thine ancient sacrifice, And humble and a contrite heart, Lord God of hosts, be with us yet,

Lest we forget, lest we forget. !

Land of Mine

Land of freedom, land we cherish, Wearing beauty like a crown, Where in heaven brightly shining, All the stars of God look down, Like a vision they abide, Symbol of our hope and pride, Send our song to heav’n above, Land of mine! freedom’s shrine, God be with you dear land we love. ! One united band of brothers, Marching onward through the years, With a burning love within us, And a faith that casts out fears, Fair land, rare land, Beauty’s crown, Where the stars of God look down, Send our song to heav’n above, Land of mine! freedom’s shrine, God be with you dear land we love. !
