Material Origin Colour Technical

PINE Produced from pine species that is grown in sustainably managed forest plantations. It is classified as a soft wood timber, which is easy to drill, nail and glue. Density of Pine material can vary greatly.

Cream to light straw in colour with a fine but slightly uneven texture. Ideal for painting.

FJ Pine: Architrave and mouldings manufactured using Finger Jointed pine are for painting only. A finger joint is when an end joint has wedge shaped projections in one piece of timber, and fit matching recesses on the other piece of timber and is banded together by an adhesive.

MDF Medium Density Fibreboard is an engineered timber product formed by the breaking down of softwood and woodchips into wood fibres similar to cotton wool, combining it with a wax and resin binder. Panels are then formed by applying high temperature and pressure. The panels have smooth surfaces on both sides and have an even density profile throughout which makes an ideal substrate to router, groove and profile.

Yellow to brown in colour with a smooth texture. Ideal for painting.

Primed MDF: The MDF architrave is coated with a primer sealant to make painting easier and help achieve a smooth finish.

Raw pine (unprimed): Pine architrave and skirting boards without any coating or finish. Ideal for painting or staining.Primed Pine: Primed pine architrave and skirting boards are pre primed on the face making them ready to paint. Ideal for many applications including wet areas.

FJ pine: Architrave and mouldings manufactured using Finger Jointed pine are for painting only. A finger joint is when an end joint has wedge shaped projections in one piece of timber, and fit matching recesses on the other piece of timber and is banded together by an adhesive.

treated pine: This architrave is great for out door use. The pine has been treated with preservatives to increase longitivity in outdoor, above ground situations. Treated Pine is also a defence against termites. Usually bright pink in colour, suitable for painting only.

Maple/MeRanti This type of timber can be classified as hardwood and is referred to either Meranti or Maple. It is suitable for internal joinery applications and is perfect for staining. This timber mostly originates from South-East Asian regrowth plantation forests.

The colour of Meranti and Maple differs due to the natural variation of timber. The hues vary from light pinks to greys to yellow.

Meranti or Maple are the best selections when looking to achieve a stain finish. Can also be painted if required.

taSManian OaK Tasmanian Oak is classified as hardwood that is a dense and resilient timber that holds nails and screws easily. Usually a mixture of two or more species with similar appearance and features makes up the hardwood species called Tasmanian Oak or also often referred to as Victorian Ash.

Light in colour ranging from yellow straw to reddish browns with shades of cream and pink.

Stains very well allowing colour matching with other timber finishes.
