News From The Streets… Alone On The Streets

By Mary Martha Primerano While stopped under the bridge in China Town a women named Sandra (not her real name) greeted me with a cup of beer in her hand and a big hug. She told me that she had been raped the night before. We’ve been working the streets long enough not to react too surprised by such news. I stood there and listened to her story. Unfortunately this happens quite often when a women is alone on the streets. She then ex-plained that her baby’s father is now serving time. We then began to minister the Word of God to her. We shared how people change, they come and go, but the one who never changes is Jesus Christ. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. You can put your complete trust in Him. We could see that she was familiar with the things of God so I told her to tell that spirit of suicide to leave her. Her eyes got real big and red, and she began to pucker her lips together. She looked like she was ready to strike me, so I said to myself ok Lord here we go, you need to step in now, or I will need to de-fend myself. But instead she looked at me with a wild look in her eyes and asked “how did you know? who told you this?” I led her to repeat after me, and to take authority over the spirit of suicide, and tell it to leave in the name of Jesus, and she did exactly that. Juan 14, 23-29.- El Espíritu Santo os irá recordando todo lo que os he dicho Jesús le respondió: "Si alguno me ama, guardará mi Palabra, y mi Padre le amará, y vendremos a él, y haremos mo-rada en él. El que no me ama no guarda mis palabras.Y la pala-bra que escucháis no es mía, sino del Padre que me ha enviado. Os he dicho estas cosas estando entre vosotros. Pero el Parácli-to, el Espíritu Santo, que el Padre enviará en mi nombre, os lo enseñará todo y os recordará todo lo que yo os he dicho. Os dejo la paz, mi paz os doy; no os la doy como la da el mundo. No se turb e vuestro corazón ni se acobarde. Habéis oído que os he dicho: "Me voy y volveré a vosotros. "Si me amarais, os alegraríais de que me fuera al Padre, porque el Padre es más grande que yo. Y os lo digo ahora, antes de que suceda, para que cuando suceda creáis. Reflexión.- El hombre pascual, el hombre nuevo, que hemos de llegar a ser es un hombre muy unido y vinculado con Cristo, nuestro Señor resucitado. Tiene una fe auténtica y fuerte en Él, un amor profundo a Él. Y este amor, esta unión con Cristo debe manifestarse en la vida de cada uno. Es lo que nos recuerda el Evangelio de hoy: “El que me ama guardará mi palabra. Y el que no me ama no guardará mi palabra”. Si buscamos a Jesucristo en nuestra vida, Él se nos hace presen-te, principalmente, bajo tres formas, solía explicarnos el Padre José Kentenich, fundador del Movimiento de Schoenstatt: · Primero, Él es el Dios de la historia y de la vida: está presente y actuando en la historia de la humanidad, de los pueblos y de cada individuo. Y está presente en todas las cosas y en todos los acontecimientos de la vida concreta. · Además, Él es el Dios de los altares: está presente en cada tabernáculo, está actuando en los sacramentos. · Y, por último, Él es el Dios de los corazones humanos: está presente en nuestras almas y en las almas de los cristianos. Esta presencia de Dios en nuestros corazones la promete Jesús en el Evangelio de hoy: “El que me ama guardará mi palabra y mi Padre lo amará, y vendremos a él y haremos morada en él.” De modo que mi alma es un templo de Dios. Cristo mismo quiere ser el Rey, el Señor de mi corazón. Por eso, tengo que echar afuera cualquier otro dueño, p.ej. el egoísmo, el dinero, el poder, el placer... Porque Cristo quiere tomar en sus manos, definitivamente, el destino de mi vida. Es como si mi vida fuese parte de la suya. Tal como Cristo piensa y siente, tal como vive, sufre y se alegra, así he de vivir yo que soy templo vivo de Él. Es el camino de asemejarme cada día un poco más a Él, de de-jarme transformar en Él. Así podré alcanzar, algún día, la pleni-tud del hombre divinizado, tal como San Pablo cuando decía: “No soy yo quien vivo, sino es Cristo quien vive en mi” (Gal 2 20) Será la victoria de lo divino sobre mi naturaleza humana. Los Padres de la Iglesia decían que cada cristiano debe ser otro

“QUE TE ALABEN, SEÑOR, TODOS LOS PUEBLOS. ALELUYA”

Cristo, es decir, Cristo continuado. Por nuestra vida debemos manifestar, cómo Él habría vivido en nuestro tiempo. Por nues-tra vida debemos prolongar y continuar la vida de Jesús. Él no vivió más que una sola vida humana, una vida breve de 33 años. Después de su Ascensión, Él ya no tiene otra aparición posible que la nuestra. El único rostro que Él puede mostrar a nuestros contemporáneos, es el nuestro, el de los cristianos auténticos. El mundo actual no se convertirá nunca a Dios, si no encuentra en nosotros, en nuestra vida cristiana, un signo y testimonio de la presencia del Señor. Algo semejante podemos decir en relación a la Virgen María. Todos nosotros y especialmente cada mujer ha de encarnar y hacer presente a la Sma. Virgen en el mundo de hoy. Como decía el Padre Kentenich: Cada mujer debe ser una pequeña María, debe ser su instrumento y reflejo, para que también nuestro tiempo pueda conocer y encontrarse de nuevo con Ella. La promesa de Cristo en el Evangelio de hoy trae además otra consecuencia importante para mi vida cristiana. Porque Él vive no solo en mi propio corazón, sino también cada cristiano es un templo vivo de Él. De modo que debo ver a Jesús en cada her-mano. Debo tratarlo como al señor mismo: con amor, cariño y, sobre todo, con mucho respeto. El amor encierra en sí, siempre un doble elemento: un donarse y un reservarse, un amarse y un respetarse. Hoy en día el respeto es más necesario aún que el amor. El respeto es el eje del mundo. A nosotros nos parece que nos rodean sólo hombres, hombres llenos de defectos y limita-ciones. Y en verdad es Cristo mismo quien está en cada uno de ellos, aunque no lo reconozcamos. ¿Qué mujer cree que va a encontrar a Dios en su marido? No es posible; lo conoce dema-siado bien, sabe lo que vale y la que no vale. ¿Y qué marido reconoce a Dios en su esposa? ¿Y qué padre, en sus hijos? ¿Y qué hijo, en sus padres? Sin embargo, el juicio final se basará en nuestra conducta para con los hermanos - de modo que Jesús se identificará completamente con ellos. Como indica el Evan-gelio de San Mateo, Él va a decir a los elegidos: “En verdad os digo que cuando lo hicisteis con uno de estos mis hermanos, conmigo lo hicisteis”. Y a los condenados va a decir: “En verdad os digo que cuando no lo hicisteis con uno de estos mis hermanos, tampoco conmigo lo hicisteis” (25,40). La morada más preciosa y perfecta de Dios es la Sma. Virgen María. Ella nos revela el mismo rostro de su Hijo Jesús. Junto con Él es el prototipo del hombre pascual que todos hemos de llegar a ser. Queridos hermanos, pidámosle por eso a María, que nos eduque para que seamos más y más semejantes a Ella: verdaderos templos de Dios, testigos y portadores de Cristo para nuestro tiempo. ¡Qué así sea! En el nombre del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo. Amén.
