This 2week field course provides an immersion learning opportunity to gain handson experience in archaeological site surveying while earning 3 college credits staying at the Raystown Field Station. Participants will learn to: 1) identify prehistoric artifacts; 2) use laser survey instruments to collect threedimensional spatial data; 3) create GIS base maps; 4) Identify and describe soils; and 5) excavate shovel test pits. Whether you plan to pursue a graduate degree in anthropology, work in cultural resource management, or are just interested in archaeology, this is a great chance to become versed in the field methods and equipment used by professional archaeologists.
