Dear readers and respected volunteers,

Welcome to the April edition of our VOIC-ES magazine. For this edition we have also prepared for you interesting articles, so we know that you will enjoy reading them. This month, we warmly welcomed Paul Angles, EVS volunteer from France. Paul will be volunteering on the VOICES maga-zine and in the Daily Center for 12 months, so we wish him good luck!From this edition on, in the part for edito-rial I have decided to include quotes from some of my favorite authors, starting with George Gordon Byron this time… I hope you will enjoy this part of the magazine also:

Far away from any settlement somewhere deeply into the Latvian forest , participants from different European countries came to-gether to discover themselves and to work

more on personal success in their life. Putting ques-tions to themselves, they are trying to learn marvel-ous skills that can lead to growth of their future. From the secrets of public speech to writing stories, train-ing course gives opportunity for gaining knowledge through working with professionals, wonderful thing that has а great advantage. Despite personal build-ing of ourselves, all participants will try to share the gained experience with other people in their coun-tries. Especially interesting was the second day of the training course, when there was workshop with one of the most known Latvian actresses. Practi-cal advices from Zana were precious thing, because they gave answers to some problems of individuals from the group, giving opportunity for resolving the difficulties that are part of their everyday working activities. The third day of the training course in La-cites opened the question of learning skills than can help to everyone how to become storyteller. As a tool for personal growth of the individuals, storytelling gives opportunity for active participation in making stories from the hole group of participants, who are transformed from passive listeners to active creators of stories. If in this modern tool we put the point of reaching personal growth, then the result from the previous days is more than positive. Personal growth is nice way of changing things in our community.

Larg nga çdo vend i banuar, diku larg në pyjet e gjëra të Letonisë, individë nga vende të ndryshme europiane u mblodhën në një vend për të zbuluar veten e tyre dhe të pu-

nojnë në suksesin e tyre personal në jetë. Duke shqyrtuar veten, mësojnë aftësi të shquara të cilat mund t’i dërgojnë në sukses në jetët e tyre. Nga njohja e sekreteve të të folurit para publikut deri te shkrimi i historive dhe arti i të treguarit të tyre, nëpërmjet punës me profesionistë me për-vojë, ata fitojnë njohuri që kanë dhe një avantazh tjetër të rëndësishëm. Përveç ndërtimit personal, secili person në vendin e tij do ta përcjellë përvo-jën më tutje edhe tek persona tjerë. Veçanërisht interesant ishte dita e dytë e trajnim kursit, kur si e ftuar u paraqit njëra nga aktoret më të njohura në Letoni. Këshillat praktike të Zanës dhanë përgjigje adekuate për problemet e secilit individ të grupës, duke ju dhënë mundësi për zgjidhje të vështirësive që janë pjesë të aktiviteteve të përditëshme të pu-nës. Dita e tretë e trajnim kursit në Lacites e hapi pyetjen për mësim të aftësive të cilat mund t’i ndih-mojnë secilit se si të bëhet tregimtar. Të treguarit si mjet për zhvillim të individit e hap mundësinë për angazhim të të gjithë pjesëmarrësve, të cilët u transformuan nga dëgjues pasiv në krijues aktiv të tregimeve. Nëse këtij mjeti modern ia shtojmë edhe pikën e arritjes së rritjes personale, atëherë rezultati i ditëve të para të trajnim kursit është më shumë se pozitiv. Zhvillimi personal është mënyrë e bukur për ndryshim të gjërave në shoqëritë tona.

Далеку од кое било населено место, некаде далеку во пространите шуми на Латвија, индивидуи од различни европски земји се собраа на едно место за да се

осознаат себеси и да поработат на својот личен успех во животот. Преиспитувајќи се себеси, учат извонредни вештини што може да доведат до успех во нивните животи. Од осознавањето на тајните на говорот пред јавноста до пишувањето приказни и уметноста на нивното раскажување, преку работата со искусни професионалци се стекнуваат со знаење што има и друга важна предност. Освен лична изградба, секоја личност во својата земја ќе го пренесе искуството понатаму и на други лица. Особено занимлив беше вториот ден од тренинг курсот, кога како гостин се појави една од најпознатите актерки во Латвија. Практичните совети на Зана дадоа адекватни одговори на проблемите на секоја индивидуа од групата, давајќи можност за решавање на потешкотиите што се дел од секојдневните работни активности. Третиот ден од тренинг курсот во Лацитес го отвори прашањето за изучување на вештините што можат да му помогнат на секому како да постане раскажувач. Раскажувањето како алатка за личен развој на поединецот ја отвора можноста за ангажирање на целата група учесници, кои се трансформираат од пасивните слушатели во активни креатори на приказните. Ако на оваа модерна алатка ја додадеме и поентата за постигнување на личен раст, тогаш резултатот од првите денови од тренинг курсот е повеќе од позитивен. Личниот развој е убав начин за менување на нештата во нашите заедници.

When I finished my EVS in the Volunteers Centre Sko-pje in June 2013 I knew that this is not the end. I knew I am going to come again very soon. And here I am 9 months later but this time as a train-

er on a trainer course “NFE: Let the Young People Learn” - par-ticipants almost from 20 countries came to Struga to learn about non-formal education (NFE). We spend the first 2 days break-ing the ice and uniting the group with different activities. There are so many different cultures that it was interesting to meet so many cultures at the same place and learn about each other.So now we know each other but what is the non-formal education? Through different activities and discussions I think we got the point, we shared our experience with this type of education through our lifetime and we wrote down 15 advices how to make a good NFE. The participants got excited about whole the idea and few of them wanted to try it and share their knowledge with us in a non-formal way. That leads me to the next day which I would call an open space day. The participants and trainers made workshops on their favor-ite topics like social media, personal branding, education technolo-gy and online learning, creative writing, nutrition etc. I have never seen a project where people were so active to share their knowl-edge and all of them presented it in a very nice and interactive way.

After finishing my Masters’ Degree in Biochemical Engineer-

ing, I felt urged to get involved in something radically differ-

ent compared to what I had experienced before. This was

the main reason I decided to participate in my first training

course implemented in the framework of Youth in Action Pro-

gramme. The diverse cultural background of the participants

and the colorful activities during the learning process lead me

to a point where I came to the decision to train myself through

NFE for some time. The most appealing for me was the out-of-

the-box way of thinking of the surrounding people – they en-

hanced my creativity and inspired me a lot. About half a year

has passed since the moment I made that crucial decision

and I am right about to begin a short-term EVS in Bulgaria.

Enough of theory, here comes the practical part! Participants were split to groups and they had half of the day to find out a new name game, energizer or ice-breaking activity. They started to brainstorm first. It was a nice sunny day so it was a good environment for good ideas. After lunch they tried their activities in practice and till dinner they had time to improve the flaws and show us the result. There came out some nice activities which can be used in other project but I think the main knowledge learnt was that it really takes time to find out a new good idea.For me the most interesting was the day when we learnt more about discrimination. It all started with a simulation game when participants were supposed catch a plane but they had to go through

passport and border control which wasn’t so nice and discriminate them for any reason. At the beginning it was fun but after some time people were starting to get angry and couldn’t deal that they were discrimi-nated for no specific reason. We tried more games and activities but I think this simulation made us to understand this topic the most. The end is here and we are going to say the first goodbye to one of the participants in few hours. The project is finishing but I think that we will never forget the great time we spent in Struga with all the interesting lectures, en-ergizers, games, karaoke and quiz night and all the friends we made here from all around Europe. And the best thing about this project - even as a trainer I en-joyed the program and learnt many new things. That is showing the power of the non-formal education itself!

In my opinion, the NFE field in Romania is developing day by day, people are more and more in-

volved in this type of education, especially teenagers and students. I used to take part in several

NGO’s, some of them are doing a great job, they had a lot of activities which involves lot of stu-

dents, they are fight for students’ rights in Romania, for the environment, for our traditional val-

ues - to save from the tendency of globalization (not fighting against globalization). NFE is fac-

ing with the mentality of old people; they simply don’t understand the role of this education and

ask often:” What for NFE? We already have formal education and that’s enough.” I think that will

have to pass a time, until this mentality will be changed and all the Romanians will understand the

non-formal is not competing with formal education, they are working together for a better world.

Kur përfundova EVS-ën time në qendrën e vullnetarëve në Shkup, në qershor të 2013-tës, e dija që kjo nuk ishte fundi, dhe e dija që do kthehesha prap shumë shpejt. Dhe ja ku jam 9 muaj pas, por tani si trajnere në kurs trajnimi “NFE; Lejo të rinjët që të mësojnë” – me pjesë marrës afërsisht të 20 shteteve që erdhën në Strugë për të mësuar edukimin jo-formal (NFE). Kemi kaluar 2 ditë duke thyer akullin dhe bashkuar grupin me aktivitete të ndryshme. Ka aq shume kultura të ndryshme sa që ishte interesante për të takuar aq shumë kultura në të njëjtin vend dhe për të mësuar për njëri tjetrin. Dhe tani njohim

njëri tjetrin por qka është edukimi jo-formal? Përmes aktiviteteve të ndryshme dhe diskutimeve unë mendoj që ja kemi arritur qëllimit, kemi ndarë experiencat me këtë lloj edukimi gjatë karrierës sonë dhe kemi shënuar 15 këshilla se si të përmirësohet NFE. Pjesëmarrësit ishin të emocionuar për gjithë idenë dhe disa prej tyre dëshironin që të provonin dhe të ndanin përvojën e tyre me ne në mënyrën jo-formale. Kjo më udhëhoqi në ditën tjetër të cilën do ta quaja ditë e hapur nw hapësire. Pjesëmarrësit dhe trajnerët bënin punëtori në temat e tyre të preferuara si psh. mediat sociale, brandingu personal, teknologjinë edukative, mësimi online, shkrimi kreativ, ushqimi etj. Nuk kam parë asnjëherë projekt ku njerëzit ishin aq aktivë për të ndarë njohuritë e tyre, dhe për të prezentuar në atë mënyrë interaktive.Mjaft për teorinë, tani vjen pjesa e praktikës! Pjesëmarrësit ishin ndarë në grupe dhe kishin kohë gjysëm dite për të zbuluar një lojë të re, energjike apo akull thyes aktivitete. Ata fillimisht filluan me ide. Ishte një ditë e mire me diell andaj ishte një ambient I mirë për ide të mira. Pas dreke provuan aktivitetet e tyre në praktikë dhe deri në darkë kishin kohë për të dëshmuar rrjedhojën dhe për të na treguar rezultatet. Dulën disa aktivitete të cilat mund që të përdoreshin në projekte tjera por unë mendoj që njohuria kryesore ishte se mund që të merr kohë për të mësuar një ide të mirë.Për mua pjesa më interesante ishte dita kur në mësuam për diskriminim. Gjithqka filloi më një lojë stimuluese ku pjesëmarrësit duhej që të arrinin në fluturim po ju duhej që të kalonin kufirin dhe kontrollimin e pasaportave, e cila nuk ishte edhe aq e këndshme dhe diskriminuese në qdo mënyrë. Në fillim ishte gazmore, por pas një kohe disa prej tyre filluan që të irritoheshin dhe nuk mund që të përballonin diskriminimin që ju bëhej pa asnjë arsye specifike. Provuam më shumë lojëra por unë mendoj që ky stimulim na bëri që këtë temë të kuptojmë më shumë. Fundi është këtu dhe na duhet që të përshëndetemi me njërin nga pjesëmarrësit për pak kohë. Projekti është në përfundim por unë asnjëherë nuk do ta harroj kohën e mrekullueshme që kaluam në Strugë me të gjitha ligjeratat interesante, energjinë, lojërat, karaoke, natën e kuizit dhe të gjithë atë shoqëri që arritem këtu prej anë e kënd Europës. Dhe pjesa më e mirë e këtij projekti – edhe si trajnere jam kënaqur me programin dhe mësuar shumë gjëra. Kjo tregon fuqinë e edukimit jo-formal!

Në mendimin tim, NFE fusha në Ru-

mani është duke u zhvilluar dita ditës,

njerëzit janë gjithnjë e më shumë duke u

involvuar në edukime të këtij lloji, veqa-

nërisht adoleshentët dhe studentët.

Kam marrë pjesë në disa OJQ, disa prej

tyre bëjnë punë të shkeqlyer, kanë ak-

tivitete të shumta që involvon shumë

student, ato janë lufto për të drejtat e

studentëve, për ambientin, për vlerat

tona tradicionale – për të na kursyer

nga tendencat e globalizimit ( jo për të

luftuar kundër globalizimit). NFE është

duke u ballafaquar me mentalitetin e

njerëzve të moshuar; ata thjesht nuk e

kuptojn rolin e ketij edukimi dhe shpesh

pyesin; “ Cka për NFE? ne veq se kemi

edukimin formal dhe ajo mjafton.” Unë

mendoj që do të kalojë kohë, deri sa ky

mentalitet I tillë do të ndërrojë dhe Ru-

manianët do të kuptojnë që jo-formalja

nuk do të konkurrojë me edukimin for-

mal, ato janë duke punuar së bashku për

një botë më të mirë.

Kur përfundova EVS-ën time në qendrën e vullnetarëve në Shkup, në qershor të 2013-tës, e dija që kjo nuk ishte fundi, dhe e dija që do kthehesha prap shumë shpejt. Dhe ja ku jam 9 muaj pas, por tani si trajnere në kurs trajnimi “NFE; Lejo të rinjët që të mësojnë” – me pjesë marrës afërsisht të 20 shteteve që erdhën në Strugë për të mësuar edukimin jo-formal (NFE). Nuk kam parë asnjëherë projekt ku njerëzit ishin aq aktivë për të ndarë njohuritë e tyre, dhe për të prezentuar në atë mënyrë interaktive.Mjaft për teorinë, tani vjen pjesa e praktikës! Pjesëmarrësit ishin ndarë në grupe dhe kishin kohë gjysëm dite për të zbuluar një lojë të re, energjike apo akull thyes aktivitete. Ata fillimisht filluan me ide. Ishte një ditë e mire me diell andaj ishte një ambient I mirë për ide të mira. Pas dreke provuan aktivitetet e tyre në praktikë dhe deri në darkë kishin kohë për të dëshmuar rrjedhojën dhe për të na treguar rezultatet. Dulën disa aktivitete të cilat mund që të përdoreshin në projekte tjera por unë mendoj që njohuria kryesore ishte se mund që të merr kohë për të mësuar një ide të mirë.Për mua pjesa më interesante ishte dita kur në mësuam për diskriminim. Gjithqka filloi më një lojë stimuluese ku pjesëmarrësit duhej që të arrinin në fluturim po ju duhej që të kalonin kufirin dhe kontrollimin e pasaportave, e cila nuk ishte edhe aq e këndshme dhe diskriminuese në qdo mënyrë. Në fillim ishte gazmore, por pas një kohe disa prej tyre filluan që të irritoheshin dhe nuk mund që të përballonin diskriminimin që ju bëhej pa asnjë arsye specifike. Provuam më shumë lojëra por unë mendoj që ky stimulim na bëri që këtë temë të kuptojmë më shumë. Fundi është këtu dhe na duhet që të përshëndetemi me njërin nga pjesëmarrësit për pak kohë. Projekti është në përfundim por unë asnjëherë nuk do ta harroj kohën e mrekullueshme që kaluam në Strugë me të gjitha ligjeratat interesante, energjinë, lojërat, karaoke, natën e kuizit dhe të gjithë atë shoqëri që arritem këtu prej anë e kënd Europës. Dhe pjesa më e mirë e këtij projekti – edhe si trajnere jam kënaqur me programin dhe mësuar shumë gjëra. Kjo tregon fuqinë e edukimit jo-formal!

Pasi përfundova diplomimin Master në inxhinierinë Biokemikale, ndjeva që të prfshihëm në diqka radikalisht më ndry-she nga se që isha mësuar përpara. Kjo është arsyeja kryesore që vendosa te marrë pjesë ne kursin tim të parë tra-jnues , të zbatuar në programin Të Rinjët në Veprim.Sfondi I ndryshëm I pjesëmar-rësve dhe aktivitetet e larmishme gjate procesit të mësimit, më sollën në atë pikë ku unë erdha në përfundim për të vendosur që të trajnoja vehten përmes NFE për disa kohë. Më tërheqëse për mua ishtë mendimi jashtë-kutisë I njerëzve që më rrethonin, të cilët zgje-ruan kreativitetin tim dhe më inspiruan jashtë mase. Ka kalur gjysëm viti prej momentit që morra vendimin e rëndë-sishëm dhe tani jam në fillim për të nisur një EVS afat-shkurtër në Bullgari.

We were both part of a TC in Bar, Montenegro and this is a short reflection of our expectations, goals and personal achieve-ments. No doubt it was quite inspirational and we hope we managed to transfer our positive experience through these

following chapters.

It is really wonderful how sometimes, when we least expect it, we get so much more than we bargained for out of some situation! When, for example, we are expecting to get

a ‘seven’ at some exam, and you get an ‘eight’, or when you meet a new person, and end up being best friends with them, or when you submit your application for an internship, but get a job offer! Does any such situation come to mind to you at this moment? For me, it was the training course in Bar, the one I just came back from. I was a complete novice in the world of training courses. I thought that the essence of training courses was merely to acquire more knowledge, to develop new skills, to expand one’s knowledge. That is why, when I was pack-ing to go to this training, I packed a big bunch of notebooks, pens, colourful highlighters and bookmarks... I was prepared for a 10-day inten-sive study trip. Everyone who has ever been to a training course are probably laughing at me by now, but I really got so interested in the topic of the training, that I was reading articles on sexual health taboos, wanting to be ready for the train-ing! And then I arrived at the hotel in Bar, where the rest of the participants had already arrived

before me. It took me no longer than the first breakfast to realise how delusional I had been! I found myself in a room full of friendly faces, cheerful smiles, people willing to talk and hang out, and ready to party. The first session was unforgettable, fraught with games, fun, laugh-ter, jokes, and so were the remaining 9 days. Every aspect of this training course was perfect. The organisation was impeccable, the trainer – inspiring, the topic – hot and steamy, the discussion – fervent, and the company was über-fun, both during sessions, and during par-ties. However, for me, the best part of the course were the new friendships. I strongly be-lieve that long-lasting friendships are formed during such a training, because when you spend 24 hours a day for 10 days with someone, you just have to get to know them very well. You learn their opinions during sessions, you share your meals with them, you party hard togeth-er, you hang out during spare time, you get comfortable around them, and so impercepti-bly you become great friends. At the end, you just want to put them in your luggage and take them home! And sometimes, you actually can!

Навистина е прекрасно како понекогаш во неочекувани ситуации добиваме многу повеќе отколку сме очекувале! Кога, на пример, очекуваме седмица,

а добиваме осмица на испит, или кога се запознаваме со нова личност, и стануваме најдобри пријатели, или праќаме апликација за стажирање, а добиваме понуда за работа! Се сеќавате ли на некоја таква ситуација во моментов? За мене тоа беше обуката во Црна Гора од која штотуку се вратив. Бев целосен новак во светот на меѓународните обуки. Мислев дека суштината на обуките е едноставно да се научи нешто, да се развијат нови вештини, да се прошири знаењето. Затоа, кога се пакував за да одам во Бар на обука, спакував тетратки, пенкалца, шарени фломастерчиња, шарени обележувачи... Се спремив за 10-дневно интензивно учење. Сите оние кои веќе биле на ваква обука сега веројатно ми се смеат, но јас навистина се заинтересирав толку многу за темата на обуката, што дома се спремав, читајќи статии за табуата на сексуалното здравје! И тогаш стигнав во хотелот во Бар, каде што веќе беа пристигнати сите останати

учесници. Уште на првиот појадок сфатив колку сум била во заблуда! Се најдов во просторија полна со пријателски лица, весели насмевки, луѓе расположени за разговор и дружење, и подготвени за забава. Првата сесија беше незаборавна, преполна со игри, забава, смеа, шеги, а така поминаа и останатите 9 дена. Секој аспект од оваа обука беше совршен. Организацијата – беспрекорна, тренерот – инспиративен, темата – жешка, дискусијата – жестока, а друштвото супер забавно, како во текот на сесиите, така и за време на забавите. Сепак, за мене, најдобриот дел од обуката беа новите пријателства. Навистина верувам дека за време на ваква обука се создаваат долготрајни пријателства, бидејќи кога поминуваш 24 часа на ден, 10 дена со некого, го запознаваш многу добро. Ги запознаваш неговите ставови за време на сесиите, ги делиш своите оброци со него, навечер се журкате заедно, се дружите за време на слободното време, ти станува пријатно со него, и така незабележително станувате супер-пријатели. На крајот, сакаш само да го спакуваш во куферот и да си го однесеш дома! А понекогаш, навистина и можеш!

Every journy is another self ac-knowledgement at the same time, over and over again we discover new parts of our be-

ing together with with our fellow trav-elers and the ones we meet along the way. I always have expectations when it comes to seminars and training cours-es that include participants from more countries, this time 15 and that fact add-ed pressure on me. How is it going to be with 30 participants with 15 different cultural background, like the subject wasn’t sensitive enough “ With knowledge against sexual taboos”. I put my expectations on hold at that moment and obviously excited I let myself into another adventure, to meet, learn and have fun with it. After 10 hours train ride which is a story by itself I arrived in Podgorica from where later that evening the rest of the group gathered and all together we went to Bar. This was the beginning of 10 days of flawless productivity and fun.We had a trainer who was very professional but non the less friendly and committed to his job and there is nothing better than doing your job with love and that energy spreads around so easily that makes an invisible perfect circle ( a term that is widely used on TC’s) between all people included. The subject of the TC and the methodology were not new to me but I was positively surprised by the approach and I easily fit into the scheme of this course. You know how it is when you are at a TC where every energizer or get to know each other game is followed by eyes rolling and whining? – Well, that was not the case here. Besides the sea and breathtaking view of the snowy mountains on one side and sea horizon on the other side, it was impossible not to have everything done from the agenda ev-ery day. A lot of things left unsaid because of lack of time so the debates would continue even on so much anticipated coffee breaks. Honestly of all the seminars I’ve been too and they’re all different in organizational advantages and disadvantages, at the end of the day most im-portant was my own satisfaction with what I’ve done and then follows the good company that makes the good working and fun atmosphere. That’s the recipe for successful TC, when you can see the productivity in the tired eyes of participants and yet willing and full of energy for hanging out all willing to get to know each other. The goal is reached plus 30 content, active, creative and hard working young people. When you get back home you can’t stop sharing all the jokes and anecdotes and experiences to your friends and that’s how they be-come interested in the subject and here’s every TC follow up activity “spread the word” and the circle keeps on spreading and you know you’ve made the good choice of taking part in it.

нови делови од себе заедно со сопатниците и оние што ги сретнуваме по пат. Секогаш имам очекувања кога се работи за семинар каде има учесници од повеќе земји, овој пат петнаесет и тоа ми создаде уште поголем притисок. Како ли ќе биде со 30 учесници со 15 различни културни позадини, како темата да не е

доволно сензибилна и без тоа “Со знаење против сексуалните табуа”. Очекувњата во тој момент ги ставив на холд и видно возбудена се впуштив во уште една авантура, да запознаам, да научам и да се забавувам. После 10 часовното патување со воз кое секогаш е приказна само по себе пристигнав во Подгорица од каде вечерта се собра поголемиот дел од групата на автобуската станица и заедно отпатувавме во Бар. Почетокот на десет дена беспрекорна продуктивност и дружба. Имавме тренер кој беше крајно професионален но не и помалку дружељубив и посветен на својата работа а нема подобро од тоа кога некој со љубов работи и таа енергија се шири и пренесува така лесно што прави невидлив совршен круг меѓу сите вклучени. Темата а ни методологијата не ми е непознати и нови но пристапот ме изненади позитивно и лесно се вклопив во шемата на овој курс. Знаете како е кога сте на некој тренинг курс каде секоја игра за загревање и запознавање е проследена со превртување на очите и лелекања? – Е, тоа не беше случај тука. Покрај морето и прекрасниот поглед со сеуште снежните планински врвови и свежиот воздух секое утро беше невозможно да не биде секој ден одработен од прва до последна точка на агендата и многу пати некои работи остануваа недокажани заради недостаток на време па и на паузите продолжуваа дебатите. Искрено, од сите тренинзи кои сум ги посетила и семинари секој е посебен на свој начин со сите недостатоци и предности во организацијата, на крајот од денот ми било најважно колку сум задоволна од себе и од сработеното, а потоа дали имам добро друштво кое ќе направи подеднакво добра работна и забавна атмосфера. Тоа е рецепт за успешен тренинг курс според мене, кога продуктивноста се гледа на дело и во очи а сепак имате доволно енергија за дружба. Целите се исполнети и на крај имате 30 задоволни, активни, креативни и вредни млади. На крај кога ќе се вратите назад во секојдневието не можете да престанете да раскажувате анегдоти и искуства од последниот семинар и така се буди интересот во вашите пријатели па ја споделувате темата со нив и отварате нови прашања и кругот се шири.

In last December, a group of students, unsatisfied from the current living conditions in the dormito-ries in Skopje, formed an initiative called «Opera-tion Student Dorm». After years complaining one

by one without any result, this group composed of around fifty students decided their story to go online to be really heard.

On March 9th, they published on their facebook page a series of 24 photos, showing the bad living conditions in Goce Delcev. Mold on the walls, very dirty and broken toilets, water on the floor in the hallways, not appetizing food... Those pictures draw the attention of thousands of people who shared their story on other social networks.

cially as we have more food”, noticed an agriculture student, seated on a bench in front of block A. «Now we have much more food and they clean more often, confirm another student of economy. So it’s a good beginning, but it’s nothing compared to what we need.»

The activities of the group draw the attention of the government also. On March 15th, during an inter-view at the national television, the Prime Minister, Ni-kola Gruevski, promised to make very soon a project of renovation of the dormitory. He hopes «that it is going to start this summer’’.

“We will work on improving conditions in this dormitory immediately after the [April] elections. We plan to use the summer for that because of the smal-ler frequency of students during that period,” added Spiro Ristovski, current minister of education to the newspaper BalkanInsight, on 13th of March.

As an ironical reply, the students of Operation Student Dorm shared on their Facebook page a link

When Goce Delcev photos go around the world

facebook page, and a countless number of times from other

pages. Few days later, Goce Delcev story

had gone around the world.

Several foreign jour-nalists told about the

living conditions of Macedonian students.

the Republic of Mace-donia” wrote for ins-

tance the British daily The Independent.

tried to contact the State Student Center.

to an article with the list off all the non-kept promises about this reconstruction from 2011 to nowadays. “Every year they say they will renovate it but it never happened, deplores the law student, in the corridor of the block G. And even now I doubt they will do it because renovation would cost a lot of money and it’s not their priority.”

To live of friendship and fresh air

This need of renovation pushed some of them to move, like this girl living in the block G: “It’s my first year in this dormitory. I didn’t know how bad the living conditions before to come here. If I had knew, I would have tried to find somewhere else. Most of the times we don’t have warm water, and many other things are annoying. That’s why I’ve decided to go to Stiv, another dormitory, next year.”

But those who move are exceptions. The big majority of youth with parents from small cities request to live in Goce Delcev. There is even waiting list. “Before my room was a restroom, explain a law student. They transformed it last year to have always more rooms to rent. They also transformed a closet behind the lift into a room. It’s crazy!”

So, what keep them motivated to sleep there? “The good ambiance!” reply all of them. 1200 students all together, like a young city inside the city. “Goce Delcev is really the worst dormitory of Skopje, affirm the same boy, living in block G. I stay only because all my friends also live there.” Parties are often organized, as well as disco or aerobic evenings in the last floors of each building.

But the good ambiance wouldn’t be motivating enough if the price of the rent wasn’t also very attractive. Nowadays, the student have to pay 56€ per mon-th, including (officially but they are often lacking) water, electricity and internet. So two or three times cheaper than any collocation in a private flat.

Violent like at the end of the clip of “The Wall” of Pink Floyd or peaceful, pointless or the beginning of wider social changes like the student protests of “May 68” in France, the future of «Operation Student Dorm» is still uncertain.

Во декември минатата година група на студенти незадоволни од моменталните услови за живеење во студентските домови во Скопје, формираа иницијатива

наречена ‘’Операција Студентски Дом’’. После години поминати во безуспешни барања за промена на ситуацијата, оваа група составена од 50-тина студенти одлучи нивната приказна да ја објават на Интернет со цел навистина и конечно да биде слушната.

На 9-ти Март, на својата facebook страна неколку пати објавија 24 фотографии, кои ја покажуваат лошата ситуација во Гоце Делчев. Влага на ѕидовите, многу нечистотија и нефункционални тоалети и тушеви, вода на подовите во ходниците, лоша храна.. Овие фотографии го предизвикаа вниманието на илјадници луѓе кои понатаму ја споделија нивната приказна на други социјални мрежи.

здружение на студенти кое се залага за подобрување на условите и стандардот во кои живеат студентите во студентските домови.’’, може да прочитаме во нивниот Статут, објавен на Интернет неколку дена подоцна. Тие планираат да се борат се додека нивните 17 барања не бидат исполнети, како ‘’бр.1 : подобрување на хигиената во тоалетите и домовите воопшто’’, ‘’бр.5 заменa и реновирање на искршениот мебел’’, или ‘’бр. 6 да има вода постојано и топла вода за туширање’’.

Мнозинството од студените ја подржуваат ‘’Операција Студентски Дом’’ , како студентката по економија, која живее во Гоце Делчев: ‘’ Ги поддржувам луѓето кои ги објавија јавно условите во домот. Домот навистина треба да биде реновиран’’. Но, неколку млади луѓе се повеќе песимистични. ‘’Не верувам дека иницијативата на facebook ќе ги промени нештата. Добро е спроведена иницијативата но сепак тоа ќе трае кратко. После неколку недели, луѓето ќе заборават. За сериозно да се влијае на ситуацијата, студентите треба да организираат протести’’, го потврдува тоа студент по право од блок Г.

Ветување за реновирање на лето, повторно

Помалку од еден месец подоцна, иницијативата донесе некои подобрувања. ‘’Веќе можам да видам мали трансформации, посебно тоа што имаме повеќе храна’’, забележува студент на Земјоделскиот Факултет, седејќи на клупата пред блокот А.’’ Сега имаме повеќе храна и чистат исто така почесто’’, го потврдува тоа и студент по економија. ‘’Toa е добар почеток, но сепак не е ништо во споредба со тоа што ни треба.

Активностите на групата го привлекоа и вниманието на владата исто така. На 15 март , за време на интервју на една од националните телевизии , премиерот Никола Груевски, вети дека многу скоро ќе направи проект за реновирање на домот. Тој се надева дека ‘’реновацијата ќе почне на лето’’.

‘’Ние ќе работиме на подобрување на условите во домот веднаш по изборите во Април. Планираме да го направиме тоа на лето бидејќи тогаш нема толку студенти во домот’’ додава Спиро Ристовски, актуелниот министер за образование за весникот Balka-nInSigh на 13 Март.

Како ироничен одговор на овие изјави студентите од Операција Студентски Дом, на нивната facebook страна, споделија линк од статија со листа на сите неисполнети ветувања од 2011 па до денес. ‘’Секоја година

Работата се завршила седум години подоцна, и првите студенти се вселиле таму во 1977

тие ветуваат дека ќе го реновираат домот, меѓутоа тоа никогаш не се случува’’, вели студент по право, во коридорот на блокот Г. ‘’И сега исто така се сомневам дека ќе се случи нешто бидејќи реновирањето ќе чини многу пари а исто така тоа и не им е приоритет’’.

Живот од пријателство и воздух

Оваа потреба од реновирање ги тера студентите да бараат друго место за живеење, како студентката од блокот Г: ‘’Ова е мојата прва година овде. Пред да дојдам, не знаев дека се толку лоши условите тука. Ако знаев, ќе се обидев да најдам некое друго место. Поголем период од времето немаме топла вода, и многу други работи се вознемирувачки. Затоа следната година, се одлучив да одам во Стив, друг студентски дом’’.

Meѓутоа тие што се преселуваат се исклучоци. Поголемиот дел од студентите кои доаѓаат од другите градови во Скопје сакаат да живеат во Гоце Делчев. Има дури и листа на чекање. ‘’ Претходно мојата соба беше тоалет, објаснува студентот по право. Тие ја трансформираа минатата година, за да можат да издаваат повеќе соби. Исто така го приспособија во соба и просторот позади лифтот. Тоа е лудо!’’

Па и покрај сето ова што ги тера студентите да спијат во вакви простории? ‘’ Добрата атмосфера! - одговараат сите 1200 студенти, кои се како еден млад град во внатрешноста на градот. ‘’Гоце Делчев е навистина најлошиот студенстки дом во Скопје’’, потврдува истиот студент од блок Г. ‘’Седам овде само поради тоа што сите мои другари ми се овде’’. Забави често се организираат , како и диско и аеробик на последниот кат од секоја зграда.

Меѓутоа добрата атмосфера сепак немаше да биде толку мотивирачка ако цената за кирија не беше толку ниска. Студентите овде плаќаат 56 € месечно, вклучувајќи ги и трошоците за вода, електрична енергија и интернет (кои често ги немаат). Тоа е два или три пати поефтино од изнајмување приватен стан.

Како ли ќе заврши оваа иницијатива на студените од Гоце Делчев ? Насилно како крајот на видео клипот за ‘’The Wall’’ од Pink Floyd или мирно, безначајно или пак како почеток на пошироки социјални промени како студентските протести од ‘’Maj 68’’ во Франција, иднината на ‘’Операција Студенстки Дом’’ e сеуште неизвесна.

Штом светот ги виде фотографиите од Гоце Делчев Само неколку часа откако Операција Студентски Дом ги објави првите фотографии од домот, започна магијата на социјалните мрежи : објавениот материјал се сподели 234 пати од нивната facebook страна, и уште безброј многу пати од други страници. Неколку дена подоцна, приказната за Гоце Делчев се виде насекаде во светот. Неколку странски новинари известуваа за животните услови на македонските студенти. ‘’ Иако студентите во Обединетото Кралство се жалат […], неправдите во студентскиот систем за сместување во ОК не се споредуваат со оние на овие студенти од Република Македонија’’ напиша на пример британскиот дневен весник The Inde-pendent. ‘’ Фотографиите ни зборуваат сами за себеси’’ потврдува американскиот Business Insider. Францускиот ТВ канал France24, дури и интервјуираа неколку студенти и се обидоа да го контактираат Државниот Студентски Центар.

Most of you have probably participated in an international event, but have you ever thought about the people thanks to who foreigners can participate? Yes, we are tal-king about the interpreters, those sometimes even unnoticeable but very important

people, who, stuck in airless booths, try to translate as fast and as good as they can, so that everyone could follow the discussion, no matter the language.

Joana Dimovska is one of them. This young and aspiring professional interpreter works as an interpreter several times per month since she got her master’s degree in foreign

languages, business and international commerce.

Do Macedonians know what interpre-tation is as a profession?Not everyone is familiar enough with what the profession of interpretation means. Often, people don’t make a difference between interpreting and the written translating. But those who know at least a bit, are unanimous that it is an exceptional-ly hard profession that demands serious commit-ment and owning a big number of skills and tech-niques that differ from those of the translator.

Is interpreting valued enough in Mace-donia, compared to abroad? Unfortunately, the conditions in Macedonia are not on the same as abroad, but considering the general situation in Macedonia, we can say that interpretation has a lot of potential and possibili-ties for professional progress if you have the right contacts.

What are your predictions on the fu-ture of interpretation in Macedonia? How much would the possible entry in the EU change the situation for inter-

preters?Interpretation is a profession with a lot of po-tential, especially if Macedonia joins the Euro-pean Union. There would be a need of trai-ned and experienced interpreters who would contribute to facilitate the communication, but it would also be an amazing opportunity for the young interpreters to demonstrate the lan-guage skills, techniques and the competences they got, as well as to promote themselves as interpreters.

What does a high quality interpreter need to have?An interpreter should have several abilities at the same time. First, come the language skills that are particularly significant, excellent knowledge of the mother language above all. To this, I would add the analytical approach and the abi-lity for synthesis, the excellent concentration and memory, then the ability to speak fluently and precisely, solid encyclopedic knowledge, skillful adaptation, great diction, pleasant voice, coping well with stress, an excellent knowledge of the topic in which you intervene, big intuition

and anticipation of the speech. To know how to cope with stage fright and publicly speak in front of a wider auditorium, to simultaneously listen and speak, something that would look a bit unnatural in a normal situation.

As an interpreter, you are hired by clients who can ask you to interpret on many topics. What is the most dif-ficult for you? The clients expect that the task is done profes-sionally, but they don’t always understand that providing some materials, if provided before-hand, could be very helpful for the interpreter in the process of preparation, doing research and getting familiar with the technical terms. It can become very stressful, because in a very short period of time, you could be obliged to do researches in different domains, which include technical terms. An additional stress would be the speakers who talk fast, or facing subjects you hadn’t expected. But for me, the stress works as a stimulator and it is what makes me give my best during the process of interpreting.

Helping by interpreting!

Community interpreting is another type of interpretation,

present in multiethnic societies. It allows access to services to

minorities who have difficulties with language barriers. These

interpreters are mostly nee-ded in situations that involve

health, education, justice, social protection. Because of the sen-sibility of these situations, the

interpreters have to go through special courses. This kind of

courses still do not exist in Macedonia, even if the need is

obvious.

But you still love what you do…I’m a curious as a person and this profes-sion offers the possibility of discovering various topics on a daily basis. I’d also mention the communication with a lot of people and the possibility for travelling. It’s a profession filled with many challenges, everything happens quickly and dynami-cally, every day is different and represents a chance for personal and professional up-grading. It really is an intellectual exercise. The personal satisfaction is the greatest when both sides manage to successfully communicate thanks to your intervention, when the speaker and the interpreter act as one, actually. Doing this job, you always tending to the others and you are there to make all language barriers disappear.

Often, laymen and amateurs agree to work as interpreters. Is this maybe due to a deficit of in-terpreters on the labor market?Interpretation is a particular profession, that requires a lot of knowledge and skills that you can’t acquire if you’re self-edu-cated. The fact that sometimes amateurs work as interpreters is not due to a defi-cit on the market, because we do have trained and experienced interpreters who work and make a living fairly and honestly. I would say that this is due to the ama-teurs’ lack of self-criticism and insufficient awareness about the responsibility of the profession. Amateurs don’t have the same abilities as interpreters that were trained to do the job.

Повеќето од вас најверојатно веќе учествувале на некој меѓународен

настан, или барем знаат што претставува повеќејазична дискусија од каков било вид. Но, дали некогаш сте помислиле

на луѓето без кои празно би гледале во учесниците чии јазици не ги разбирате, а камоли нивните говори на темата? Да,

зборуваме за толкувачите, оние понекогаш незабележливи, а сепак многу важни луѓе,

кои, затворени во скоро безвоздушни кабини, се обидуваат да преведат колку што

можат побрзо и подобро, за сите да можат да ја следат дискусијата, без разлика на

јазикот.

Јоана Димовска е една од нив. Таа е млада и надежна професионална толкувачка, која работи како толкувач неколку пати месечно откако се стекнала со магистерска диплома по јазици, бизнис и меѓународна трговија.

Дали знаевте?

Па добро, сите знаеме кој бил Алберт Ајнштајн, но она што не го знаеме, се последните зборови кои ги изговорил на смртната постела! Починал на 18ти април 1955 во болницата Принстон во САД, но пред да почине од внатрешно крварење, изговорил неколку зборови на германски, неговиот мајчин јазик. За жал, медицинската сестра, која се гржела за него, не зборувала германски, па така никогаш не сме ги дознале неговите последни зборови. Ова покажува како човештвото може да пропушти и важно откритие, поради непознавање на странски јазици.

Дали македонците знаат што значи да се биде толкувач?

Можеби не се сите доволно запознаени со она што навистина значи професијата-толкувач, честопати луѓето и не прават разлика помеѓу толкувањето и писмениот превод, но оние кои барем малку се запознаени се едногласни дека станува збор за исклучително тешка професија која бара сериозна ангажираност и поседување на голем број вештини и техники кои се разликуваат од оние на преведувачот.

Дали толкувањето доволно

се вреднува во Македонија, во споредба со странство?

За жал условите за работа во Македонија не се на исто ниво со условите за работа во странство. Но сепак за наши услови може да се каже дека има голем потенцијал во толкувачката професија, доколку ги имате вистинските контакти и нуди огромни можности за професоинален напредок.

Кои се Вашите предвидувања за иднината на толкувањето во Македонија? Колку евентуалниот влез во Европската Унија, би ја променил ситуацијата на толкувачите?

Во оваа професија лежи огромен потенцијал, особено доколку Македонија во иднина се приклучи кон Унијата. Во тој случај ќе има потреба од обучени и искусни кадри кои би придонеле за полесно одвивање на комуникацијата, но исто така и ќе биде голема можност за младите толкувачи да ги покажат јазичните вештини, техники и умеења што ги поседуваат, како и да се докажат во оваа професија.

Што сè треба да поседува еден квалитетен толкувач?

Еден толкувач треба да поседува повеќе способности истовремено. На прво место се јазичните вештини кои се особено важни, пред се одличното владеење на мајчиниот јазик. На ова би ги надоврзала аналитичкиот пристап и вештината на синтетизирање, одличната концентрација и меморија, потоа способноста за течно и прецизно говорење, солидна општа култура, вештина на адаптација, одлична дикција, пријатен глас, добро владеење со стресот, одлично познавање на доменот во кој интервенирате, голема интуиција и антиципирање на кажаното. Да знаете како да ја надминете тремата и јавно да говорите пред поголем аудиториум, да слушате и истовремено да говорите, нешто што во нормална ситуација би ви изгледало неприродно.

Помагање преку толкување!

Толкувањето во социјална средина е уште еден вид на толкување, присутно во мултиетничките општества. Им дозволува пристап до услугите

на малцинствата кои имаат потешкотии заради јазичните бариери. Овие толкувачи најмногу се

потребни во ситуации од областа на здравството, образованието, правдата, социјалната заштита.

Поради чувствителноста на овие ситуации, толкувачите поминуваат низ специјални обуки. Вакви обуки сè уште не постојат во Македонија,

иако потребата е очигледна.

Како толкувач, клиентите од вас може да побараат да толкувате на различни теми. Што е најтешко за Вас?

Клиентите очекуваат задачата да биде професионално завршена но не секогаш се свесни дека на пример одредени материјали би му биле од огромна помош на толкувачот при процесот на подготовка, истражување и усвојување на стручната терминолгија, доколку претходно му се обезбедат. Може да биде навистина стресно поради тоа што ќе се најдете во ситуација, во исклучително краток период да истражувате во различни домени кои вклучуваат технички термини. Дополнителен стрес би претставувале брзите говорници, соочување со теми кои не сте ги очекувале. Но за мене стресот делува стимулирачки и тоа е она што ме поттикнува да дадам сè од себе при самото толкување.

Но, сепак го сакате она што го работите...

Со оглед на тоа дека сум љубопитна личност, оваа професија нуди можност за секојдневно откривање на разновидни теми. Би го споменала и остварувањето контакти со многу луѓе и можноста за патување. Станува збор за професија исполнета со многу предизвици, сè се одвива брзо и динамично, секој ден е различен и преставува множност за лично и професионално надоградување. Се работи за огромна интелектуална вежба. Личната сатисфакција е најголема

кога двете страни успешно комуницираат благодарение на вашето интервенирање, односно кога говорникот и толкувачот дејствуваат како едно. Вршејќи ја оваа професија секогаш дејствувате во служба на другиот и тука сте за да направите сите јазични бариери да исчезнат.

Честопати, лаици или аматери се нафаќаат да работат како толкувачи. Дали можеби тоа се должи на дефицит од кадар на пазарот?

Професијата толкувач е посебна професија која бара мноштво на умеења и знаења кои не можат да се стекнат доколку сте самоук. Фактот што аматери прифаќаат ангажман не се должи на дефицит на кадар на пазарот, бидејќи кај нас има доста обучени и искусни кадри кои чесно работат и заработуваат. Би рекла дека повеќе се должи на недостаток на самокритичност од страна на аматерите и недоволна свесност за тоа какви одговорности носи оваа професија. Толкувачите-аматери не ги поседуваат истите компетенции и техники како стручно обучените толкувачи.

YOUTH IN ACTION

EU YOUTH CONFERENCE

In the period between 10th and 12th of March 2014, I was representing Volunteers Centre Sko-pje and the Coalition of youth organizations SEGA as youth representative from Macedonia, on the

“EU Youth Conference” in Thessaloniki, Greece, hosted and organized by the Hellenic Presidency of the Council and the European Youth Forum (EYF). This conference, a real milestone of the structured dialogue process, was underlining the main focus of the Hellenic Presidency on youth issues: social inclusion of all young people with a clear emphasis on youth entrepreneurship.

The EU Youth Conference brought together around 250 participants from all the EU Member States and can-didate countries, both representatives of young people and of Ministries responsible for Youth Affairs, as well as from international NGOs, the European Commission and the European Youth Forum. For three days, we all toge-ther jointly discussed various aspects of social inclusion, such as quality education, quality jobs, active inclusion, inter-generational solidarity and youth entrepreneurship, based on the results of consultations and discussions between young people and policy-makers conducted in the 28 Member States of the European Union, as well as the reports submitted by several international NGOs ac-tive in the field of social inclusion of young people.

The conference in Thessaloniki, which followed those of the Irish and Lithuanian presidencies, was the last in this Trio Presidency, which have all focused on so-cial inclusion of young people. For me this was the second Conference of the Trio Presidency, after my first confe-rence last year in Dublin, Ireland. Although Macedonia is still not a member of the EU, the presents of youth repre-sentatives as well as representatives from the national youth authorities from our country on this kind of events, is giving us opportunity to discuss very important topics and subjects, which are concerning the young people, with other youth and state representatives from all around Europe, on equal level. I hope that we will conti-nue to attend the next EU Youth Conferences, organized by the next Trio Presidency (Italy, Latvia and Luxem-bourg), on which other important topic will be open for discussion and suggestions.

на младински организации СЕГА како младински претставник од Македонија, на “Младинската Конференција на ЕУ” во Солун, Грција, организиран од страна на Хеленското Претседателство на Советот и Европскиот Младински Форум (EYF). Оваа конференција, која е една од основните столбови на процесот на структурен дијалог, уште еднаш го потенцираше главниот фокус на Хеленското претседателство во сферата на младинските работи: социјална инсклузија на сите млади луѓе со посебен нагласок на младинското претприемништво.Младинската конференција на ЕУ донесе на исто место околу 250 учесници од сите ЕУ земји членки и од земјите кандидати за членство, учесници кои беа претставници на младите, претсавници на министерства и национални тела одговорни за младински политики, претставници на меѓународни НВО-а и претставници на Европската Комисија и Европскиот Младински Форум (EYF). KONFERENCA RINORE E BE-SË

Në periudhën ndërmjet 10 dhe 12 Mars 2014, unë i përfaqësova Qendrën e Vullnetarëve Shkup dhe Koalicionin e organizatave ri-nore SEGA si përfaqësues rinor nga Maqe-

donia në “Konferencën Rinore të BE-së” në Selanik,Greqi, organizuar nga ana e Presidencës Helene të Këshillit dhe Forumit Rinor Europian (EYF). Kjo konferencë, e cila ësh-të një nga shtyllat bazë të procesit të dialogut struktural, edhe një herë potencoi fokusin kryesor të Presidencës Helene në sferat e punëve rinore: përfshirje sociale të gji-thë të rinjve me theks të veçantë në sipërmarrjen rinore.

Konferenca Rinore e BE-së solli në vend të njëjtë rreth 250 pjesëmarrës nga gjithë vendet anëtare të BE-së dhe nga vendet kandidate për anëtarësim, pjesëmarrës të cilët ishin përfaqësues të të rinjve, përfaqësues të minis-trive dhe trupa kombëtar përgjegjës për politika rinore, përfaqësues të OJQ ndërkombëtare dhe përfaqësues nga Komisioni Europian dhe Forumi Rinor Europian (EYF). Të gjithë ne, plot tre ditë, bashkarisht diskutuam në aspekte të ndryshme në temën e përfshirjes sociale, siç janë: ar-sim cilësor, punësim cilësor, përfshirje aktive, solidaritet ndërmjet gjeneratave dhe sipërmarrje rinore, diskutime të bazuara në rezultatet e konsultimeve mes të rinjve dhe autoriteteve në gjitha 28 vendet anëtare të BE-së, si dhe të bazuara në raportet e disa OJQ ndërkombëtare të cilat janë aktive në fushën e përfshirjes sociale të të rinjve.

Konferenca e mbajtur në Selanik, të cilës i paraprinë konferencat në kohën e Presidencës Irlandeze dhe Leto-neze, ishte e fundit e të ashtuquajturës Presidenca Trio, ku në të tre konferencat u diskutua në temën e përfshir-jes sociale të të rinjve. Për mua kjo ishte konferenca e dytë në kuadër të Presidencës Trio, pas konferencës time të parë në Dublin vitin e kaluar. Edhepse Maqedonia nuk është anëtare e BE-së, prezenca e përfaqësuesve rinor dhe institucional nga vendi ynë në ngjarje të tilla, na jep mundësi të diskutojmë në nivel të njëjtë për shumë tema të rëndësishme të cilat i brengosin të rinjtë, me shumë përfaqësues rinor dhe institucional nga gjithë Europa. Unë shpresoj se ky trend do të vazhdoj edhe më tutje dhe se do të marrim pjesë edhe në konferencat rinore që do të organizohen nga ana e Presidencës Trio të ardhshme, e përbëre nga Italia, Letonia dhe Luksemburgu, ku në dis-kutim dhe sugjerim do të vendosen tema tjera të rëndë-sishme.

Претседателско Трио, каде што на сите три конференции се дискутираше на темата на социјална инклузија на младите луѓе. За мене ова беше втора конференција во рамките на ова Претседателско Трио, после мојата прва конференција во Даблин минатата година. Иако Македонија не е член на ЕУ, присуството на младински и институционални претставници од нашата земја на ваков вид на настани, ни дава можност да дискутираме на еднакво ниво за многу важни теми кои ги засегаат младите луѓе, со други младински и институционални претставници од цела Европа. Јас се надевам дека овој тренд и понатаму ќе продолжи и дека ќе присуствуваме и на младинските конференции кои ќе бидат организирани од страна на следното Претседателско Трио, составено од Италија, Латвија и Луксембург, каде што на дискусија и сугестија ќе бидат ставени други важни теми.

KALINA MALESKA:

Writer of novels, short stories and essays published in Macedonian and international magazines, professor of English literature at the Faculty of Philology of Skopje and a translator. Kalina Maleska has had many occupations but kept through the years the same love of literature. At the occasion of the publication of her newest novel, Appa-ritions with Silver Threads, she tells more about its creation and the writing process.

The novel “Apparitions with Silver Threads” has an interest-ing structure which is based on the format of a story within a story, but executed in a way that till the end of the story remains the question of which is actually the basic and which is the framed story, or are they two narrative lines that take place in parallel. The plot takes place in present time wherein one of the narrative lines follows the life of a girl graduated from the Faculty of Philology, who is unable to find work and temporarily lives with her brother who is a writer and his wife. Being constantly at home, the girl starts writing a novel that contains the second thread of the story. The novel she writes is about a thirty-five year old girl architect that finds work in Dubai and her younger brother, a student at the Faculty of Philology. In Dubai, the sister buys a book with lo-cal legends, which are a reflection of the mythological in this novel, and the characters within are later haunting her in real life. At the same time, her brother during a school assignment finds a manuscript of an unknown author, and slowly starts to unveil the secretive tale about it.

Kalina Maleska has published two col-lections of short stories: “Misunder-

standings”(1998) and “The Naming of the Insect” (2008), the novel “Bruno and the Col-ors”(2006) and the play “An Event among Many”(2010). Her short stories are pub-lished in several magazines in Macedonia and abroad. She is engaged in translating as well. Some of the works that she translated are: Concise Oxford Dictionary of Politics, transla-tion of the Macedonian novel “Она што беше небо”, trans-lation of Lawrence Stern’s novel Tristram Shandy, Tani-zaki Jun’ichiro’s The Makioka Sisters and the translation of Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn. Her short stories have won over the readers in Croatia, where she recently received the acknowledgment for a short story of the week.

По повод издавањето на нејзиниот нов роман „Призраци со срмени нишки“, ни раскажува нешто повеќе за неговото создавање и процесот на пишување.

КАЛИНА МАЛЕСКА: НЕСВЕСНАПРИВЛЕЧНОСТ КОН ПРИКАЗНИТЕИ ПЕСНИТЕИнтервју на Сања Најдовска и Иван Милошевски

Романот „Призраци со срмени нишки” има интересна структура, која се заснова на форматот приказна-во-приказна, но изведена е на таков начин што намерно до крајот се остава отворено прашањето која, всушност, е основната, а која врамената приказна, или се тоа можеби две наративни линии што се одвиваат паралелно. Дејството се одвива во денешно време, при што едната наративна линија го следи животот на девојка која завршила Филолошки факултет, но не може да најде работа, па привремено живее кај својот брат, кој е писател, и неговата сопруга. Бидејќи е постојано дома сама, сестрата почнува да пишува роман, што и ја сочинува нишката на втората приказна. Во неа станува збор за една триесет и петгодишна архитектка која наоѓа работа во Дубаи и нејзиниот помлад брат кој студира на Филолошкиот факултет во Скопје. Во Дубаи сестрата купува една книга со локални легенди, кои одразуваат едно впечатливо митотворештво во овој роман, по што ликовите почнуваат да ја прогонуваат во нејзиниот реален живот. Истовремено, братот, по задачата што ја добива на еден од часовите, наоѓа ракопис од непознат поет и полека почнува да ја разоткрива таинствената приказна за него.

Калина Малеска има издадено две збирки раскази:

„Недоразбирања“(1998) и „Именување на инсектот“(2008), романот „Бруно и боите“(2006) и драмата „Случка меѓу настани“(2010). Нејзини раскази се објавени и во неколку списанија во Македонија и во странство. Се занимава и со преведувачка дејност. Некои од делата што ги превела се: Концизен оксфордски речник на политиката, Она што беше небо на Владо Малески, Тристрам Шенди на Лоренс Стерн, Сестрите Макиока на Џуничиро Танизаки, Хаклбери Фин на Марк Твен. Нејзинините раскази ја освоија и публиката во Хрватска каде неодамна се здоби со признанието за расказ на неделата.

Како професорка и писателка вашата кариера е во тесна врска со книжевноста. Дали стануваше збор за наклоност?

Уште од дете ја сакав книжевноста и тогаш не стануваше збор за некоја свесна одлука да се посветам на неа. Едноставно, за мене постоеше некоја несвесна привлечност кон приказните и песните. Сега можам да кажам дека една од свесните причини што ја сакам книжевноста е тоа што таа овозможува да се погледне светот и од друга гледна точка.Исто така, во литературните дела некогаш се среќаваме со мисли и сфаќања што се слични на нашите а се кажани на некој поубав, условно речено, начин, и мислам дека тоа се делата што најмногу и ги паметиме. Но, сè уште делумно постои и онаа таинствена привлечност кон книжевноста за која не може лесно да се најде објаснување преточено во зборови.

Која работа ве исполнува повеќе?

И двете. Додека пишувам, знам дека тоа е она што сакам да го правам, навистина уживам во самиот процес на пишување. Дури и кога правам други работи, некогаш ми доаѓаат слики и настани што сакам да ги запишам, па одвај чекам да добијам прилика да го сторам тоа. Често си правам и различни јазични конструкции за истата содржина и размислувам што би било најефективно за да се искаже нешто, така што пишувањето навистина ме исполнува. И професорската работа исто така ми претставува голема радост. Бидејќи го предавам тоа што го сакам – книжевност, што ми овозможува да ги истражувам дадените литературни теми, одвај чекам тоа да го споделам со студентите. Во моментите додека сум на часови, не сакам да бидам на ниту едно друго место.

Што мислите дали читателите знаат да ги вреднуваат македонските автори?

Некако во последно време имам впечаток дека читателите ги вреднуваат и македонските автори. Не можам да кажам со сигурност, но ми се чини дека го нема веќе оној став што, барем според моето искуство, беше доминантен додека бев во средно училиште

As a professor and a writer you are tightly connected with literature. Was it a vocation?

I’ve loved literature since I was a child and even then it was not about a conscious decision to dedicate myself to it. Simply, in me there was an existence of an unaware attraction towards stories and poems. One of the reasons I can offer is because it gives the opportunity to look at the world from other points of view. Also in the works of literature sometimes we encoun-ter thoughts and understandings that are similar to ours, but written in a more beautiful manner and those are the works that people remember most. And then there is the partial existence of a secretive attraction towards lit-erature for which there is no easy explanation put in words.

Which one do you find more fulfilling?

Both of them. While I am writing, I know that is what I want to do because I enjoy the entire writing process. Even when I am doing some-thing else I get these images and events that I cannot wait to get the opportunity to put them on paper. Writing completes me, and I often make different linguistic constructions for the same content, thinking about what would be the most effective way to express something. Teaching also brings a great deal of joy to me because I teach what I love – literature. Being a professor enables me to research specific literature topics which afterwards I am eager to share them with my students. While I am in the classroom, there is no other place I would rather be.

Do you think that the readers value Macedonian authors?

Lately, I have the impression that the readers value the Macedonian authors as well. I can-not say with certainty, but it seems to me that the old attitude that foreign authors are just better is long gone. In my opinion, my genera-tion only read the assigned literature with few exceptions. During the course of our studies,

– дека странските автори се подобри, додека од македонската книжевност мислам дека мојата генерација ги читаше главно само лектирите со многу ретки исклучоци. Мислам дека кај мојата генерација се разви свест за вредноста на македонската книжевност некаде во годините додека студиравме, а и денес забележувам дека многумина со кои разговарам се

поинформирани за македонските писатели отколку што беше случај порано.

Kако писател, од каде ја црпите најголемата инспирација за пишување?

Инспирација црпам буквално насекаде околу себе. Има периоди кога сум позаинтересирана за некои историски настани, и тогаш многу истражувам за одреден период, па она што го пишувам го сместувам во некое минато време. Многу ја сакам астрономијата, па таму ја најдов, на пример, инспирацијата за романот ,,Бруно и боите” и драмата ,,Случка меѓу настани”. Знам да се инспирирам и од книга, па тогаш се провлекува референца од некое прочитано дело.

Што беше инспирацијата за вашиот втор роман „Призраци со срмени нишки“, издадена во март месец годинава?

As a writer, where do you find your big-gest inspiration?

The inspiration comes from everything around me. There are periods when I am more interest-ed in certain historical events which results in a lot of research about that period and placing my writing in some past time. I love astronomy, and that is where I found the inspiration for the novel “Bruno and the Colors” and the play “An Event among Many”. Sometimes I find myself inspired by a book and then a certain reference slips through.

And for your second novel “Apparitions with Silver Threads”, released in March this year?

For this one, the inspiration came from the ev-eryday life. For example, there are some values that are widely promoted which I don’t appreci-ate, that were one of the things that inspired me. The more direct approach of the novel which symbolizes one thread deals with the everyday life problems, while the other thread

од секојдневниот живот. Постојат, на пример, некои вредности што на широко се промовираат, а кои јас не ги споделувам, па тоа беше една од работите што ме инспирираше. Но и други секојдневни проблеми со кои се среќаваме се разработени во романот – во едната наративна нишка подиректно, додека во другата нишка на романот се разработуваат исто така секојдневни судири, но на посимболичен начин.

Како „Призраци со срмени нишки“ го доби својот наслов?

Обично насловот ми доаѓа некако спонтано уште штом почнам да пишувам. Во овој случај не беше така. Романот долго време немаше наслов, а дури кога бев при крај со приказната, размислувајќи за она што дотогаш го имав напишано, наеднаш сфатив дека призраците, односно привиденијата, се заеднички за сите ликови и дека тие се врзуваат со ликовите со силни но и привлечни нишки, па оттаму насловот. Привиденијата имаат многу различна функција за сите ликови – во еден случај станува збор за призраци што му се причинуваат на еден од ликовите, но во другите случаи се многу посимболични и може да значат врска со сопствената инспирација, неоткажување од навидум бесполезно истражување или нешто трето. Не знам дали можеби вака кажано ова звучи нејасно, но се надевам дека во романот е сосема јасно на кој начин поимот „призраци“ е поврзан со овие други работи што ги спомнав.

Некој совет до младите и надежни писатели?

Јас воопшто не сакав кога ми даваа совети како помлада, но тоа не значи дека советите не се генерално добри. Затоа имам само еден совет – да пишуваат. Другите поконкретни совети ќе дојдат од луѓето коишто ќе ги читаат нивните дела и, се надевам, младите автори ќе ги сфатат тие совети добронамерно.

Why did you titled the novel “Appa-ritions with Silver Threads”?

When I start writing usually the title comes to my mind spontaneously. With this title it was not the same case. The novel was not titled for a long time and when I was finishing it up I started to contemplate about what I wrote, suddenly realizing that ghosts or apparitions are mutual for all the characters and are connecting them with strong and appealing threads that gave me the title. The apparitions have different function for all the characters. On the one hand it is about apparitions that envision one of the characters and on the other hand they are more symbolical having the meaning of a connection with one’s inspiration, not giving up on osten-sibly useless research or something else. Expressed in this way, maybe it seems a bit unclear, but I hope that it will be clear in the novel how the term “apparitions” is connected to all these other things that I mentioned.

What would you advice young and inspiring writers?

When I was younger I didn’t like people giving me advice, but that doesn’t mean that they are not a good thing. I have only one advice for them- write. The readers are the ones that will give them more con-crete pieces of advice and I hope that the writers will receive them as intended.

W hen I was 6, I started the elemen-tary school at my village. First of all, in Hungary the Roma people face a great discrimination. The

Hungarian people, most of them say that the Roma people don’t work, because they are lazy and just waiting for the benefit, and have babies for bigger benefits. When I started pri-mary school, I didn’t have any contact with Roma people, but in first class I had 3 Roma childer in my class. They were dirty and they got bad grades at school. At first, I didn’t know why they were always dirty and don’t like to study, and sometimes fell asleep during class-es. My classmates told me not to speak to them as they are bad and would just get me into trouble. I listened to them because they were my friends. The first half year was like this, nobody spoke to them, but after wanted to understand the background, why they were like this. I asked a girl, she was really surprised that I want to speak to her. And she told me her story, that her family is really big, she has 6 brothers and 2 sisters. They had a really small house and her mom can’t work because she

is ill, and her father can’t work because he is Roma. They have money only from the gov-ernment – and it is not so much. So they are really poor and that is the reason why she is always dirty and smelly, because at the end of the month they don’t have money to pay for the bills, and everything is turned off (water, lights, electricity). She told me that she has to take care of her younger siblings, and work a lot in the house. It was the reason why she al-ways fell asleep during class. I was really sur-prised, but I didn’t know anything about it be-fore, and I felt so bad that I just listened to the others’ opinion and not to the opinions of both sides. After I listened to the story, I told it to my friends and everybody got ‘schooled’. We gathered toys, clothes and food to give them, and we decided to help them with the study, and one of my friends gave her father a job too. After one year, the same family was get-ting on well, the girl got good grades at school and had a lot of friends in class, and we are still good friends. It’s my story about how to break the stereotypes and change your mind about discrimination.
