Dear All,

It is a great pleasure to see the first edition of YIND news, and more than an honor to send this first message to all of you.

As you perhaps are aware, YASKAWA’s activity in India has been started in July 2005 at a room of 9th building in Galleria Market in Gurgaon with only 3 members, Imamura-san, Tarun-san and Vikas-san.

And during last 9 years, there were a lot of changes and events for all the world and we have been a company with more than 170 people and 200 Crore INR as sales volume.

However there are a lot of points which we should consider changing or create in order to step up as a team and to do so the most important and basic issue is communication.

As you know, our team was already distributed for 4 locations and number of staff will be increased constantly, so it may be difficult to know each other personally.

Before a member of enterprise, we are a human and should try to understand each other as a human to work as a team with good etiquette.

If you read and utilize YIND news for such purpose, all related staff about this will be more than happy and they are willing to have any feedback from all of you.

Sincerely yours,

Akinori UrakawaPresident and C.E.O.

Ken Imamura Dear All,

It gives me a great pleasure to write a foreword for this first edition of YIND newsletter.

FY2013-14, I was involved in Sales activity in South Region. Ajay Gurjar-san came on board as a General Manager (Sales) from July-2013 and he developed a Strong Sales & Application Engineering Team in South Region (Bangalore & Chennai). Sales team in South showed significant results under Ajay’s leadership. My first objective of developing a team in Bangalore completed with this.

From April 2014 onwards I am moving from Bangalore office to Gurgaon office in system engineering division of Robotics.

Cross- Divisional Leadership Training Program @ Bangalore (Jan 30th & 31st, 2014)

It may become necessary for an individual to be the breadwinner of the family, even from the very young age. It may so happen that loved ones get what all they want (from gadgets to cars and finest education) when they earn. This constant “giving” continues throughout life.

And occasions may arise that the loved ones leave the breadwinner to go abroad or different directions and at some point of time the individual realizes that he may have ‘less work’ and ‘more time’ at his disposal. Now, he has to invest time in everything and everyone, though such of those could take care of themselves.

Majority of us do not have priority over others and do not consider ourselves as the ‘first’. We invest in latest gadgets, appliances and complicate our lives, hopeful business ventures and other people’s dreams! We dress according to trends and styles; and, in doing so, do we do what we love to do? Or, do we indulge in whims of the world?

ARE WE TRULY FREE? Or is our freedom entirely dependent on the impression of others? Answer all the questions, as below:

• When was the last time we did something which we loved?

• What have we done to better ourselves in the past months?

• To whom do we listen?

Now, you will understand ‘how’ energy is consumed based on your answers. If you feel, you deserve more care ‘for self’, put into practice the following:

• Discover your true needs (needs against wants)

• Raise your self-esteem (confidence in ability and value)

• Take perfect care of yourself adopting healthy habits and grow each day, mentally, emotionally and physically

• Do what you love to do• Weigh your options (You have the right

to ‘choose’ people and things you want in your life.)

Summary The beauty of sacrifice is that you will not always be able to reckon yourself as the first. But by increasing awareness of what you deserve you can strike a balance between how much you do for others and how much you do for yourself.

You are your single great investment, you should feel energized for your well-being; likewise for the well-being of others who depend on you.

“We are not only supplying industrial robots to the Indian market, but also provide quality service and robotics turnkey solutions. Various big companies have their in-house support system but small companies need service solutions, we provide support to such companies,” says Ken Imamura, President,(Robotic Division) YASKAWA India Pvt Ltd.

What is the market size of industrial robot in India?

Indian market is very promising and has a long way to go to match the fast developing country. According to IFR report, there should be approximately 3,000 robots by 2015-2016 in India.

What are the latest trends and demands in the Indian industry?

We see good demand for industrial robots in India, companies are gradually adopting latest and automated robotics technologies. Awareness level for industrial robots is low in India, but it’s catching up. Also, considering the fact that major automotive and other engineering companies have made India their manufacturing base, it will further drive the demand for such technologies. Apart from this, there are areas where it’s hazardous as well as tedious for humans to work. For example few beverage companies have to manufacture more number of bottles during the summer seasons and it’s a very tedious job if done without the use of robot.

The automotive industry is not in such a great shape at present. How

much has it affected YASKAWA’s business in India?

Honestly speaking we have almost reached our set target, but yes we could have done better if all was well with the automotive industry. If you see our business, we deal mainly in both 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler segments. Given the fact that we have a huge customer base in the 2-wheelers segment in India and it’s still doing good, there has been no significant affect of downturn on us.

Indian market still has a timid response toward automation. How do manage to survive the challenge?

We are not only supplying industrial robots to the Indian market, but also provide quality service and robotic solutions. Various big companies have their in-house engineering team to support system but small companies need complete solutions, we provide support to such companies. In this way we are trying to capture the market for automation in India.

There are various companies who provide industrial robots in India. What is your strategy to stay ahead in the competition?

We deal in industrial robots and its periphery equipments in India. Every year there are technological changes happening in this segment, for example, we just introduced few new robots & controller model DX200 which has advance technologies. Robots are of mechatronics domain which is related to mechanical and electronics. Mechanical and electronics are sectors where upgradation and changes happen continuously and it can be seen in robots. Our company has a very strong R&D base backed by excellent service team. YASKAWA has a strong arc welding technology which is good for metal sheet welding. Our agenda is not just selling our product, but providing a complete robotic solution to our customers. And we are continuously innovating and up grading our Industrial robots.

What percent of your total sales is dedicated to R&D activities? And what is the volume of production in a year?

We invest almost 10% of our overall sale for R&D activities in YASKAWA Japan. Our robot production capability is 2,500 per month. So, it’s around 30,000 robots in a year that we are producing. We have production facilities in Japan as well as in China. In the year 2015 we are completing our 100th year in Japan. So, we are engaged in modifying are production line-up in which robots will produce robots.

How soon can one expect Return on Investment (ROI) of this product?

ROI is different for different products & applications and also depends on how it is being operated or how much it is being used. It also depends on who is using it, skilled or unskilled workers and how look after robots. But if someone is using is in full throttle they will get the ROI very soon.

How do you see the awareness level in India especially among the SME’s for automation technology?

There is great response from the SMEs. It can be observed from the fact that earlier there were only a few companies to provide industrial robots in India, but now there are many companies. Also, SME’s in India are adopting automation in place of increasing manpower cost and to get higher productivity.

Don’t you think you entered the Indian market late?

Yes, many other industrial robot providers entered the Indian market before us. We entered India in 2005 and as per our data we have the maximum number of robots in India. With 30% market share in India, we are still expanding.
