The Borgian

I n this Sunday’s first reading and Gospel we see Peter and the other disci-ples in action after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. On trial,

they refused to stop teaching in Jesus’ name, and they rejoiced at the oppor-tunity to suffer for their beliefs. On the lake and its shore, face to face with the Risen Lord, they obeyed his directions and recognized him as he once again ate a meal with them. There are so many human and almost homey touches in these readings! The high priest in the first scene sounds as if he is scolding naughty students. There is an order to stop speaking in Jesus’ name, but it is evident everyone knows they will disobey again. And on the lake shore, we can imagine Peter’s excitement as he strides out of the water and is greeted by Jesus, who grins and says, “Come, have breakfast.” The second reading, on the other hand, is anything but homey. In this passage from Revelation, John describes a scene in which the same Lord who fed his friends breakfast here receives honor and glory from everything in the universe. Copyright © J. S. Respect Life On receiving the Nobel Prize for Peace, Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta had the courage to say to the leaders of political communities: ‘If we let a mother kill the fruit of her womb, what is left to us? It is the principle of abortion that endangers peace in the world’. It is true! There can be no true peace without respect for life, especially if it is innocent and defenseless as is that of the unborn child. Elementary coherence requires those who seek peace to safeguard life. No pro-peace activity can be effective unless attacks on life at all its stages, from conception until natural death, are as energetically opposed.” (Pope John Paul II To The Members Of The Italian Pro-Life Movement, 22 May 2003)

From the Pastor’s Desk… Sometimes we may feel that what we are experiencing had already happened in the past – a feeling of déjà vu. We may not be able to explicitly state the precise time and place, but we know that the occurrences had already taken place earlier in our lives. The apostles experienced these emotions following the Resurrection of Christ. At one time, when they were with Him, they had asked Him many questions and demanded answers. Following the resurrection these things appeared clear and obvious. The Lord was again with them. Have we already met the Risen Lord? Is He present in our hearts and does the great joy from Easter still with us? Have we already expressed our love for Christ as Peter did in this weekend’s gospel? We must remember that our response to love cannot be mere words, but we must respond with all of our hearts and with our lives. In this spirit of love I would like to invite all of you to the memorial mass for the repose of the Soul of Franciszek Bulinski, Fr. Marcin’s father, that will be celebrated at St. Francis Borgia Church on Tuesday, May 7 at 7:00pm. During this Mass we will also pray for Fr. Marcin and his family who are in sorrow. I and all who had the privilege to meet Fr. Marcin’s father feel very blessed, because he was a man of faith and a good heart. He will be remembered here as an honorary parishioner of St. Francis Borgia forever.

From the Associate Pastor… Dear Parishioners, I would like to take the opportunity to thank Fr. Richard Milek, the pastor and Fr. Joe Mulcrone, all the staff members, School principle and teachers and also all the school children, Religious Education Director, Catechists and the Religious Education children, the organists, the maintenance crew, the cook, all I have talked to and prayed with. I greatly appreciate your support during this time as I mourn my dad’s passing. Your prayers, cards and words of encouragement mean a world to me. This is an expression of true love for which I will always be grateful. Thank you very much and may God bless you all.

Fr. Marcin Bulinski

Life is but a stopping place, A pause in what's to be, A resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, Different paths along the way,

We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay... Our destination is a place, Far greater than we know. For some the journey's quicker,

For some the journey's slow. And when the journey finally ends, We'll claim a great reward, And find an everlasting peace, Together with the lord –Author unknown

Z Biurka Ks. Proboszcza… Marcina, ktora bedzie odprawiona w naszym kosciele we wtorek 7 maja o godz. 7 wieczorem. Franciszka Borgia.
