Against
the Odds The Risa Ranch near Opheim
was blessed with a rare se
of triplets Wednesday nigh
as their calving season is
just getting started. And
we say “blessed” as Bryce
Risa, who sent us the photo
explained that he had jus
lost a calf and the momma
cow of the dead calf adopted
one of the triplets, which arearound 50-60 pounds each
two bull calves and one
heifer calf. What’s udderly
amazing is that calf triplets
being born is quite a rare
event. While the likelihood
of beef cattle having twins is
somewhere between 1 and
7%, the chances of triple
births in beef cattle are just
one in 105,000 , according to
Charles T. Estill, associateprofessor of rural veterinary
practice at the Oregon
State University Veterinary
School. To put that into
perspective, the chances
of nding a four-leaf clove
on the rst try are about 1 in
10,000. Bryce had maybe
get to the Mint Bar and ge
himself a lottery ticket.

Te Scotty sofball team started the high schoospring sports season off with a bang in Glendive with a4-1 victory over the Red Devils on Tursday. What makes the win even sweeter is the act thatthey were missing three o their usual starters who werenot eligible to play because they didn’t have the numbero required practices in.
yra Johnson picked up the win rom the moundwith Ziggy Chamberlain in charge o the catchingduties. yra recorded six strike-outs, gave up two walksand six hits.
One o the highlights o the contest was yanaJohnson showing some early-season power with a homerun. Rachel Boese, stepping up rom the JV ranks, hadan impressive day with her bat, going 2-3 at the plate
and Kennedy Schmidt went 2-4. “Being our first game and missing three startersI was happy with the way our girls played,” said GiJohnson, who is the new head coach, replacing longtimecoach Mark Falcon. Next up or our Scotty varsity girls will be a make-up game in Lewistown on Tursday, April 7th — andthey’ll have their ull line-up.

MONDAY
When I was born the doctor came out to
the waiting room and said to my father“I’m very sorry. We did everything we
could, but he pulled through.”
I remember the time I was kidnapped
and they sent a piece of my nger tomy father. He said he wanted more
proof.
I could tell that my parents hated me. My bath toys were a
toaster and a radio.
I come from a stupid family. During the civil war my great
uncle fought for the west!
My uncle’s dying wish was to have me sitting on his lap. Hewas in the electric chair.
When I was a kid I got no respect. My mother breast fed me
through a straw.
Oh, when I was a kid, I was poor. Christmas, I got nopresents. Well, there was one Christmas, on our front lawn- Prancer and Dancer - they dropped off a little something.
Well with girls I don’t get no respect. I had a blind date. Iwaited two hours on the corner. A girl walked by. I said “Are
you Louise?” She said, “Are you Rodney?” I said, “Yeah.”She said, “I’m not Louise.”

Final Four underway
on Saturday afternoon As March Madness spills intoApril, it’s going to be an excitingFinal 4. Afer first round wins in the
NCAA Men’s Sweet Sixteen, threeo #1 seeds made an early exit.Only #1 North Carolina made it tothe Final Four. #1 and overall top seedKansas... gone. #1 Oregon... gone. And #1 Virginia... gone.
In the Glasgow Distributors/Hi-Line Ford Sweet Sixteenbracket, that wiped out a wholelotta olks vying or some nice
prizes, particularly those whopicked Kansas because there wasan overwhelming pile o them(about 80%) who went with theJayhawks. Oregon cost quite a ewbracketeers, as did Virginia. But there is another shortpile o them here that have thear Heels picked to run the table.Tey are: Sarah Law, Julie Page,Kevin aylor, Ken Jansa, Arlie
McMichael, Don Rath, WadeBrockmier (a huge sports an,March Madness was one o hisavorite times o the year), Buckets,Arleen Archambeault, Mandy Lin,Johnny Lin, Fanny Lin, KevinSchindler, and Kent Schindler. I Villanova should pull itoff, Jim Koessl and Kirsten Bensecould be looking at a tie-breaker. Wayne Linder and ara
Strommen saw something inOklahoma. No one in the GlasgowDistriburs/Hi-Line Ford contestpicked 10th seeded Syracuse towin it all.
But we’ll see how it plays out— should the men in Orange winit all, it’s going to be a disaster to gothrough all these brackets to findour eventual winners!
