  • Core Applications

    Extended Applications

In virtually all instances the initial processing and analysis tools bundled with the system provide for best-of-class data handling whose output is carriedthrough to the end-deliverable. In other cases, pointcloud data is imported to a multitude of third-partyapplication software. These offer specific tools andworkflow outputs/deliverables not readily obtained fromthe point cloud tools included with the ILRIS-3D. Thistends to be specific and distinct within markets, applications and customers.

There are multitudes of process-specific applications towhich ILRIS-3D-generated data can be applied. Optechdevelops customized formats to ensure maximum functionality with specific best-of-class software.

ILRIS-3D point cloud data is easily imported into manythird-party application packages, including:

    • INOVx• 3D Plant LINx• RealityLINx• CAD LINx

    • AutoCAD®• Gemcom• Surpac• I-Site• Bentley/MicroStation® GEOPAK® suite• 3D Studio Max®• TerraModel®• TerraScan®• 3DVeritas

    • Reconstructor• Surveyor

Core applications involve the field collection of data, aswell as initial processing and analysis. Aside fromScanner Control (via Palm PDA), data processing at thetime of field collection is not required and can be carried

out in a controlled environment elsewhere. The standardPolyWorks bundle provides best-of-class software toolsrequired for virtually all point cloud operations, andallows data to be complete.

ILRIS-3D offers quick conversion of scan data to CADplan/elevation take-offs, facilitating rapid planning. All features such as utility location, road centreline and curb extents are accurately and completely located.Collateral data is also utilized, in determining vegetationtype, tree caliper size (and in some cases species),canopy volume, and more.

    Mine Planning

    Urban Planning

Unleash the complete range of mine planning tools inthird-party application software on the most feature-richpoint cloud data imaginable. Applications include: complete blast analysis; volumetrics; dilution control;grade stability; blast hole location for open pit operations; and various additional applications for mine and mill.

Perform complete point cloud analysis of bridge deflection loading with ILRIS-3D. Millimetricdifferential analysis on different scans is performed inseconds across many millions of points and across theentire width of structure. More accurate and completethan conventional tape gauge methods, and no shutdownof traffic below the span is required. Other DOTapplications cross allphases of developmentfrom initial right-of-way planning to surface and structure rehab.

Continuously monitor hundreds of control points on any engineered structure. ILRIS-3D has proven to befaster than, and as accurate as, traditional survey methods. Reports automatically export to Microsoft Word or Excel.

  • Lidar point cloud scan data form the cornerstone forplant physical documentation. ILRIS-3D data is utilized directly within a number of dedicated plant-as-built software applications, to facilitate criticalclash detection between pipe and steel, to ensure accurate nozzle placement for vessel retrofits, and for a host of other applications.

Plant-as-built: Process unit plant, showing direct scanner data and asolid model. Solid model imagesgenerated using INOVx, 3D Plant LINx software.

A wealth of information on historical edifices can nowbe directly digitized, where range and accuracy limitations previously made this impossible or impractical. Millimetrically accurate polygonal modelsare rendered and exported in a variety of formats.
