About our Juror: Sarah Eichhorn
Sarah is a fiber artist and sustainable living advocate based in Milwaukee, WI. She received her BFA in Fashion Design from the International Academy of Design and Technology in Chicago and her MFA in Costume Design from Florida State University.
Sarah is drawn to creating pieces of art that utilize natural colors and fibers while pushing herself towards zero waste with her materials. She has led various workshops on natu-ral dye and eco-printing techniques, as well as facilitated lectures on sustainable fashion. Through her personal practice, Sarah hopes to inspire others to consider where their coloring comes from and how we can collectively become more invested in the clothes we wear. Workshop: Naturally Dyed Silk Scarf & Bundle Dyed Flour Sack Towel January 10, 10 am - 1 pm
In this 3 hour workshop, fiber artist Sarah Eichhorn will teach us how to natural dye with plants and kitchen scraps, and how they can also be used to create unique prints with bundle dyeing. We’ll cover how to set the dye on your fabric, recipes for natural dyes, and the different types of dye stuff you can use from your kitchen and garden. You’ll walk away with a
beautiful naturally dyed silk scarf, a bundle dyed flour sack towel, and some natural dyed samples to use as inspiration. Perfect for showcasing the ways you can create sustainable color from the earth. Workshop is beginner level.
