Target Groups, Promotion Vehicles, Rationale & Use Target group Vehicle Rationale & Use
Dental offices Packages: letter, mouse pads, CINOT postcards, WDG brochures
CINOT mouse pads were disseminated to dental offices prior with positive feedback. They are intended for the receptionists who answer calls and provide information about CINOT to patients.
Hygienists in the region generally only meet once/year, while very few dentists come together for networking purposes; therefore mailing packages to their offices is the most feasible approach.
School Guidance Counselors & CYCs
CINOT posters, posters, WDG brochures, bags
To post and/or hand out to students, including dental bags (pencil cases specifically)
1 presentation at an annual CYC meeting
To increase our visibility, improve stakeholder relations, provide more detailed information to CYCs of the Upper Grand District School Board.
Youth Service Provider Network
CINOT posters & posters, WDG brochures
For service providers to post and make available in their lobbies.
Mugs For agencies to add to their lunchroom supplies so the mug and CINOT information circulates through the agency.
2 presentations To increase our visibility, improve stakeholder relations, provide more detailed information, and disseminate materials.
Guelph CHC, clinical team
1 presentation Guelph CHC is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team who work with higher-risk populations.
Emergency departments
CINOT posters & postcards, WDG brochures
Consultation recommended sending information to Emergency Department Nursing Managers and Lead Nurses rather than doctors.
Public Health Staff meetings To provide the information to school nurses (Healthy Living and Young Adult Clinical teams), answer questions, and inform of materials available.
Email To inform all staff that the CINOT program has been expanded.
Youth Dental bags: toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, toothbrush travel cap, CINOT postcard, and WDG brochure
Toiletry bags & pencil cases.
Serves two purposes – to raise awareness of free dental care at Public Health and to support dental hygiene.
If the postcard is thrown away, then the youth will have the contact information on the bag and toothbrush.
To be disseminated by service providers who work with at-risk youth (e.g. shelters and schools CYCs).
Parents Elementary school newsletter
To get the information to parents directly. Monthly newsletters are sent home to parents of both boards.
Messaging could coincide with Oral Health month (in April).
High school report To get the information to parents directly. School

Podcast Two separate video clips will be filmed (CINOT and Preventive Dental Clinic), which can be used together or separately. These clips will raise awareness of the dental services at Public Health through a medium that is more appealing and accessible than print.
The clips will be put on Public Health’s website and/or link to You Tube (like Boston Public Health), TV’s playing in reception areas, and burn a copy to a CD for delivering presentations. It can also be provided to stakeholders for self-initiated purposes, for example, physician offices for reception areas, or stakeholder meetings or events (parent-teacher, school council).
Facebook page
Provides updates to Facebook users who have become a “fan” of our page. Wyndham House has 120 users on their page.
For our agency, a fan base of 1,000 people would be considered a success; however, it could take several months to recruit as many fans.
Orangeville Bus ads
To raise awareness with parents, youth, and the broader public.
Parents Twitter Provides updates (“tweets”) to subscribers from our Twitter page. Alternatively, non-subscribers can visit our page to read the posts. Note: It’s harder to measure the impact of this vehicle due to the unknown number of non-subscribers.
CINOT posters in community organizations, workplaces & businesses
To post in public areas such as food banks and community centres.
To put in workplace lunchrooms, bathrooms, or other meeting areas for staff. Note: we do not have a suitable employer database at this time.
To post in select businesses such as discount grocery store, Laundromats, and cash stores.

CINOT Press Release Release Date: April 26, 2010
An expansion of the Children in Need of Treatment (CINOT) program means more children in Wellington and Dufferin counties will be able to get free urgent dental care. The CINOT program provides services and treatment for children whose parents/caregivers have no dental coverage and cannot afford the cost of urgent dental care. Now, eligible youth aged 17 and under can take advantage of the program. Previously, services were only available to children aged 0 to 13. “The expansion of the CINOT program addresses an important need in our community,” says Dr. Robert Hawkins, Dental Health Program Manager at WDG Public Health. “Aside from the pain they may experience, youth in need of dental care but unable to afford the cost of treatment are often self conscious about their teeth--and these are permanent adult teeth. The CINOT program provides the care these kids need to improve their dental health and improve their self-esteem.” Urgent dental care includes tooth or mouth pain, infection, large cavities, bleeding gums, and mouth injuries. The CINOT program can provide fillings, x-rays, teeth removal, and some root canal treatments. For more information about the CINOT program and other dental services, call WDG Public Health at 1-800-265-7293 or visit www.wdghu.org. -30- Contact: Dr. Robert Hawkins Program Manager, Dental Health 519-846-2715 ext 2628 1-800-265-7293 [email protected]
