Gaudi’s work.

Guell Palace
Guell Palace was built between 1886 and
1888. The Guell family paid Gaudi to build this as a town house. They also wanted it to be a museum to show their antiques and a perfect
place for social and cultural events.

An aerial view of Guell Palace.
Can you see Gaudi’s chimneys?
![Page 8: Antonio Gaudi - winslow.bucks.sch.uk](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051319/627b40ceca782b09867acea1/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Why do you think the doors are so
large?
![Page 9: Antonio Gaudi - winslow.bucks.sch.uk](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051319/627b40ceca782b09867acea1/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Guell’s chimneys
Do you know what these spires covered in tiles are for?
They’re chimneys and ventilation ducts.

Sagrada Familia
Sagrada familia, means Holy Family in Spanish.
The construction work began in 1882 and still continues today. When Gaudi died in 1926, his plans were left behind for others to follow. It is planned to be finished in 2025.
![Page 11: Antonio Gaudi - winslow.bucks.sch.uk](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051319/627b40ceca782b09867acea1/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Still under construction….

It will be a massive church, room
for:
1500 singers
700 children
7 organs

Although the towers
taper towards the top,
they have nothing in
common with
traditional sharply-
pointed spires.
Instead, Gaudi
developed his own
design.
