• The Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) is an internal protocol of the Internet Protocol (IP) suite. It manages multicast traffic by using switches, routers, and hosts that support IGMP. Enabling IGMP allows the ports to detect IGMP queries and report packets and manage IP multicast traffic through the switch.

VLAN - IEEE 802.1Q Standard
Virtual Local Area Network – The grouping of devices on one or more LANs that are configured (using management software) so that they can communicate as if they were attached to the same wire, when in fact they are located on a number of different LAN segments.

How does PoE control power output?
Step1. Detection: – PSE asserts a voltage pulse (2.7-10V) and detects if there is a correct current
response from the PD
Step2. Classification:– The current response from PD conveys one of four power classes to PSE
Step3 Classification for PoE+ (2- Event)– PoE+ PSE will assert a voltage pulse again to detect if the PD is compliant with PoE+

LEDDrivers
• CC, CV and CC+CV– “MW constant current LED power supply possesses both “C.V.
+ C.C.” characteristics. During startup it will operate in “C.V. mode”, which is suitable for LED driver IC and series resistor applications. Once output current requirement exceeds rated current of the power supply and reaches the constant current region, the unit will remain in the constant current mode which is suitable for direct drive of LEDs. C.V.+ C.C. characteristics can be used in all types of LED setup making system design more flexible.”
Adjustable Drivers
• DC side is adjusted• Current
– Down to 50% of output current
• Voltage– typically +/- 10% of output
voltage
• Note ELN has internal potentiometers
Class II
• UL1310 Class2 the US regulation for limited power source.• The basic requirements are: output power <100 VA, output
current <=5A, and leakage current<0.5~0.75mA• UL1310 can only be used for: commercial voltage of up to 240Vac
commercial voltage. If 277V is required, must apply UL 1012 instead
• In conjunction with UL1310: users may also ask for compliance to UL 879and be SAM Listed because then the lighting system does not have to resubmit for approval and can be sold directly
Inverter
• Modified sine wave A301/302-100~2500– Cannot be used for audio/video application
• True sine wave TS-200~3000– Used in HD TV no noise interference
• Solar inverter TN-1500/3000– Independent sub power station
• Stand-alone Solar Inverter ISI-500
Power Factor Correction
• PFC models are within the range 0.9-0.95 on the power factor correction scale.
• The active PFC will auto adjust for US or European AC
• Energy Star projects dictate a minimal PFC of 0.9
• Common models– SP,NEL, SPV, USP, HRP, MSP, HRPG
PoE Tidbits
• How much power will the device consume. – IEEE 802.3af dictates that a device will not draw more than
15.4 watts (44V @ 350mA). » Note only 12.95 watts are assured to be available
– IEEE 802.3at (PoE +, PoE plus) can provide up to 30 watts per PoE port.
– Heaters, infrared, PTZ
• 8 port af device consumes 120 watts• 8 port at device consumes 240 watts
AGH Switches
• Antaira has high power PoE switches– These require a input voltage of 50-57VDC
• MDR,DR and DRP – Adjustable up to 56VDC via potentiometer
