Gather information
for your search
Gather as much information about the standard
as possible:
Title of standard – gives possible keywords to
search
Designation (aka Standard Number) – best
indication if it is an ANSI or other standard
Developer or publisher – helps find other
avenues to searching for the standard
From the e-Library
homepage, try a search
“Search for…” provides access to THE MOST CURRENT records of
print ANSI Standards in the university library, and can be found
under the Books, DVDs, etc. link.
Place your search terms in the “Search for” box
(like any other search) and click “SEARCH”

You need this entry to find the
standard in our collection!
Found it in the database!
Now What?
• Go to the Standards Center, Room 161
(first floor, past the restrooms on the right)ANSI standards are in filing cabinets on the left as you walk in the
room; other print standards are on the right
Found it in the database!
Now What?
• ANSI Standards are filed alphabetically by
designation:ANSI/A10.3
ANSI/AIAA G - 003
ANSI/ASQ Q10006
ANSI/BHMA A156.3
ANSI/BIFMA X5.1
ANSI/C12.7
ANSI/DASMA 102
Room 161
Look at the labels on the filing cabinets to the place where an ANSI
designation would reside.
For example, if we were looking for API 510:
• Find the cabinet that would have API standards in them
• Find the API 510 range (in this case, between ANSLG and
API 613)
• Open the drawer and look for 510
Inside the drawer
Standards are placed in reverse
chronological order with the designation
written on the spine:
LATEST (2008) IN FRONT
OF ALL
ANSI/ASME A112.19.3
editions
EARLIER EDITION
ANSI/ASME A112.19.3-2000
When you are done…
Just set the standard on top of the cabinets.
We will put them away!
Other popular
standards
ISO Standards
Most ISO standards are here with oversized
ANSI standards
Find them to the LEFT when you enter the
room beside the ANSI standards
Other popular
Standards

Large set of BLUE volumes on shelves
Find them to the RIGHT when you enter the
room with “Other print standard”
