Annual School Calendar of Activities
2021-2022
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Pipersand- Lucknow
Mission Statement Navodaya Vidyalaya System is a unique experiment unparalleled in the annals of school education in India and elsewhere. Its significance lies in the selection of
talented rural children as the target group and the attempt to provide them with quality education comparable to the best in a residential school system. Such children
are found in all sections of society, and in all areas including the most backward.
COVID MANAGEMENT PLAN OF JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA PIPERSAND LUCKNOW
Ref: NVS RO Letter Number: F.No.6-19(COVID-19)/NVS-20/LR/SA Dated-24/11/2020
Introduction:
The JNVs are closed from 21st March 2020 due to COVID-19 Pandemic engulfing not only the Country but the Whole World. This disease is very dangerous which
may result in loss of valuable life if the COVID PROTOCOLS are not followed. Thus, apart from teaching and learning which is going on online somehow, the other
aspects particularly the safety and security of students has to be looked into if the physical presence of the students is desired in these Vidyalayas which are
residential in nature. Thus, there is a dire need of an SOP to be strictly followed by the stakeholders of the school in order to ensure that no untoward incident
happens in the school once the students are allowed to reside in the school hostels.
The detailed SOP is as under:
1. Calling students to School: It has been decided by the school that students of class X, XII (Own Students) and Dakshana Students (Class XII) only may be
allowed to reside in the school campus subject to the consent of their Parents as asked for. On arrival their body temperature will be checked at the
entrance by the team of house master/ teachers lead by Staff Nurse and its record be maintained by staff nurse in a register duly signed by Parents.
The students and their parents will be asked to attend a meeting wherein the arrangements made for the stay of the students in the dormitories, their
meals in the dining hall, the arrangement made for their studies in the academic block and the medical support provided to them will be explained in
detail.
After this exercise, they will be allowed to stay in the dorms allotted to them.
Regarding Dakshana students it has been decided that firstly the local students that is the students belonging to Lucknow District will be called as per
above. They will be observed for a fortnight. If the results are found to be satisfactory only then the remaining students belonging to different states will
be called.
The students will be subjected to RTPCR test for COVID-19 at the earliest by a team sent by CMO of the District Hospital whom a request to this effect
shall be made by the Vidyalaya intimating the dates of arrival of the students. Only the students with a negative report be allowed to stay in the
Vidyalaya.
2. Residential Component: The total number of students on rolls of class X and XII including Dakshana Scholars are: Boys 125 (Class-X 53, Class-XII 27,
Class-XII D -45) and Girls 76 (Class -X 27, Class-XII-14, Class-XII D -35). The Vidyalaya students are divided into Senior and Junior Houses. In case of boys
we have 8 dormitories with 24 students each for Seniors and Similarly for juniors. The Dormitories of Junior Houses can be used to accommodate Senior
Students. Thus, in case we accommodate 12 students per dormitory in alternate beds we can accommodate 125 boys in 11 dormitories. 5 dormitories
are vacant. Out of these 5 dormitories 2 dormitories can be used to make isolation dormitories of 12 beds each. The remaining 3 dormitories may be
used as per need. Regarding accommodation of Girls we have 4 dormitories with 24 students each. Similarly, for juniors. In case we accommodate 12
students per dormitory in alternate beds we may accommodate 76 girls in 7 dormitories. The remaining 1 dormitory may be used as isolation dormitory
of 12 beds. The CMO of the District hospital may be requested to provide one Doctor/Nurse for at least 8 hours duty both in Boys and Girls Isolation
Dormitories.
3. Mess Management: There should be separate arrangement for boys and girls in the mess for dining as per earlier practice. The Girls can be
accommodated in 12 dining tables in three rows (4 tables per row). Each table will have two benches in which three girls may be seated (two in extreme
corners and one in the middle). In the next table three girls can be accommodated alternately. This way 12 girls can be seated in 4 tables in one row.
Thus 36 girls can be seated in three rows maintaining the COVID-19 Protocol. Similarly, for boys. 72 boys can dine in one go. Thus, we propose that the
lunch and the dinner should be held in two shifts with probable timings 1.30 PM to 2.00 PM and 2.15 PM to 2.45 PM for lunch and 7.30 PM to 8.00 PM
and 8.15 PM to 8.45 PM for dinner. We also propose that counter system be followed with Social Distancing to avoid wastage of food and ensuring
quick service. Regarding breakfast, we propose that the students may be allowed to take the breakfast in their dormitories instead of taking it in the
mess to avoid violation of COVID-19 protocols. Cleanliness and sanitization of the tables may be ensured after each meal. The general cleanliness of
the mess may be ensured daily, preferably between the finish of Lunch (2nd Shift) and the start of Dinner (1st Shift). Dry ration should be procured in
sealed packs were ever possible.
4. Academic Aspect: We have 14 rooms in academic block where teaching learning takes place. Each room will have 20 benches with seat. Students may
be accommodated one student per bench. This way we may accommodate 20 students per room. Thus 123 students of classes X and class XII can be
seated in 7 rooms. The 80 Dakshana students may undergo the teaching-learning process in a separate hall meant for them with similar seating
arrangement. Staggered time table will be prepared so that every student will have access to the teacher.
5. Medical Support; The CMO of the District hospital may be requested to;
• Send testing team to the Vidyalaya every fortnight for rapid test of all students and staff for COVID-19.
• Send testing teams for RTPCR test for COVID-19 every month for all students and staff.
• Depute doctors /nurses / lady doctors for duty/frequent visit in isolation dormitories.
The staff nurse may be asked to maintain relevant registers student wise for COVID-19 especially for those who have been put in the isolation
Dormitories.
The Vidyalaya should provide masks to every student per week. Provision in the budget be made accordingly.
