Source: Liturgical Publications, Inc.

Annual Report to the Parish July 2016 to June 2017

Our Community We are disciples of Jesus with unending mission of discovering God’s love through Worship, Prayer, Study and Good Works. Many MHT volunteers give their personal time and their talent for the good of our parish family and outreach to the community that surrounds us.

Parish Member and Involvement 2,232 active registered families 4,991 individuals on average attend Sunday mass consisting of

1,727 men, 2,438 women and 826 children under the age of 13 60 + ministries and organizations 870 + volunteers for liturgy, ministries, faith formation, outreach,

committees and organizations Very diverse multi-cultural community

Community Outreach Serving over 3,600 families per week with our food distribution

program in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul Sheltering and feeding over 10 homeless individuals during

winter months in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul Feeding 11,547 homeless individuals in partnership with St.

Vincent de Paul Giving $43,523 in special collections to St. Vincent the Paul to

support its Food and Meal distribution program Pledging over $214,000 for the Bishop’s Annual Diocesan

Appeal San Jose flood victims - $8,133 Catholic Charities Appeal - $10,545

Outreach Our parishioners generously contribute to the needs of our Community, Nation and World, over and above what they give to support the parish. Some of these include:

Jointly we made it possible for: 1,980+ Eucharistic liturgies to be celebrated 79 infants and children to receive the Sacrament of Baptism 192 individuals to receive their First Holy Communion 181 persons to celebrate their first Sacrament of Reconciliation 141 individuals to receive their Sacrament of Confirmation 58 adults go through the RCIA process 25 couples joined together in Holy Matrimony 79 bereaved families comforted in funeral Liturgy 15+ Ministers on average administered Communion visits to the

sick weekly 58 persons given spiritual strength through Anointing of the sick

National and Global Outreach Mission Cooperative -$17,488 Blanket Drive for Casa de Los Pobres in

Tijuana, Mexico - $24,553 Jesuit Relief Services for Haiti earthquake

victims - $8,133 U. S. Catholic Bishops collections ranging from

retirement fund for religious to catholic education - $9,565

Funding Our Mission Total revenues amounted to $1,748,243. This was $144,043 higher than budget mainly due to additional collections for the

Church HVAC Project, higher religious education fees, Measure A grant from Santa Clara County, and various gifts and donations.

Sunday and Holy Days collections of $1,023,625 was slightly better than budget of $1,010,000. The increase came mainly

from Christmas, New Year and Easter offertory collections. Total operating expenses (before depreciation) of $1,498,725 was lower than the budgeted amount of $1,512,660. The

budget savings resulted from lower spending in pastoral activities ($13,168), facilities maintenance ($8,332) and administration ($7,119) partly offset by higher religious education expenses, property insurance and MHT school subsidy.

Overall, the Parish’s Net Assets grew by $75,584. Cash in bank at the end of June 30, 2016

amounted to $754,310. Of this amount $537,889 was designated for Church HVAC project and $91,036 for parish organizations, leaving only $125,385 for general operating fund which is hardly enough to cover one month operating expenses of the parish.

As earlier communicated to the parish community, the Church HVAC project was discontinued due very high capital need. After consultations with Community Leaders, the Finance Council decided to give HVAC donors the option of getting their donations or reallocating it to Church maintenance and improvement fund for heating system replacement, carpet replacement or refurbishment of benches and chairs.

Long-term debt to the Diocese of San Jose on the

Trinity Center was reduced by $107,441 to $3,392,927. Total yearly amortization including interest amounts to $211,020 until maturity on June 30, 2039.

While the overall results for the year were good,

there is a need to increase the reserve for general operating fund which has been flat in the past three years. Thus, I am asking that you continue to share your goods so generously as members of the Most Holy Trinity Parish.
