OUR MISSION: SERVING OUR COUNTRY BYSTRENGTHENING MILITARYFAMILIES
ANNUAL REPORT
Dear Comfort Crew Supporters,
The Comfort Crew for Military Kids (CCMK) is a 501(c)(3) public charity established in 2007 to honor, celebrate, and support military children.
Our mission is to deliver proven resources to help military kids and their family connect and build resiliency in the face of extraordinary challenges. Tens of thousands of military families are faced with extraordinary circumstances every year.
The average 17-year- old of a military family: • has moved 6-9 times, leaving friends and attempting to making new ones • had one or both parent deploy 4-7 times resulting in years of separation • struggles with the process of reintegration each time the parent returns • is at higher risk for psychological and behavioral problems • is at higher risk for attempting suicide than nonmilitary youth
With the help of our stakeholders, last year we delivered resources to 27,000 military kids living in 37 different states as well as, Japan, Guam, Korea, Singapore,Spain and Italy.
Families and educators tell us our programs have a positive impact. Here are just a few from last year:
I think the big message students got was that they aren’t the only ones and that helped them to feel supported. They seemed to really enjoy the presentation. — Middle School Counselor
Thank you so much for sending us these resources! they have greatly helped my children cope with their dad being gone. and thank you for including an extraCuzzie for my daughter, she loves snuggling with it and carries it with her everywhere. —parent
I have seen every one of Mr. Trevor Romain’s videos with Jack and Skye. It was amazing to watch those videos and really learn life lessons from them even as akid. I received one of his journals when I was at Ft. Campbell and I was able to send that journal back and forth when my dad was deployed in Iraq. And I think thatreally helped us keep that connection. —2017 Midwest Military Youth of the Year
Our vision is to ensure all military children receive the support they need to thrive.
Respectfully,
Co-Founder and Executive Director
Letter from Co-Founder and Executive Director
28,000+ military kids received Comfort Crew resources
18,000+ military kids attended the WYATW! Tour
Provided 152 presentations at schools in HI, FL, NC, DC, TX, WA, & VA
"The DVD helped us to understand our feelings at this moment. It is fun and so creative! Cuzzie and
the dog tags gave my son something tangible that represents love and comfort. He sleeps with Cuzzie
everyday. Additionally, the journal is an awesome way to express and process his feelings and an
opportunity for us to talk about them." - Parent
